This paper presents a three-dimensional (3D) integrated numerical model where the wave-induced pore pressures in a porous seabed around breakwater heads were investigated. Unlike previous research, the Navier-Stokes equation is solved with internal wave generation for the flow model, while Biot's dynamic seabed behaviour is considered in the seabed model. With the present model, a parametric study was conducted to examine the effects of wave and soil characteristics and breakwater configuration on the wave-induced pore pressure around breakwater heads. Based on numerical examples, it was found that the wave-induced pore pressures at breakwater heads are greater than that beneath a breakwater. The wave-induced seabed response around breakwater heads become more important with: (i) a longer wave period; (ii) a seabed with higher permeability and degree of saturation; and (iii) larger angle between the incident waves and breakwater. Furthermore, the relative difference of wave-induced pore pressure between fully-dynamic and quasi-static solutions are larger at breakwater heads than that beneath a breakwater.

In this paper, an analytical solution for the wave-induced seabed response in a porous seabed is derived. Unlike previous investigations with quasi-static soil behaviour, dynamic soil behaviour is considered in the new solution. The basic one-dimensional framework proposed by Zienkiewicz et al (1980) is extended to two-dimensional cases. Based on the analytical solution derived, the effects of dynamic soil behaviour on the wave-induced seabed response are examined. The boundary of quasi-static soil behaviour and dynamic soil behaviour is clarified, and formulated for engineering practice.

Artificial reef often experiences a functional loss due to scour, even though serveral surveys of a seabed were performed prior to installation. Particularly in the east and west coasts in Korea, where the artificial reefs are installed, there are clear differences in the geotechnical characteristics of the seabed. Therefore, in this study, both field surveys and laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the scouring characteristics of artificial reefs installed on the east and west coasts of Korea. The laboratory experiments were performed with different velocities and soil types. The field survey results of artificial reef revealed that artificial reef-installed seabeds in the east and west coasts are more vulnerable to scour than settlement. Particularly in the west coast, the loss ratio caused by scour was found to exceed 50 % in most cases. The experimental results showed that scouring occurred faster and more severely on the west coast seabed, which has a smaller particle size compared to the east coast. Additionally when the scour depth exceeded approximately 10 % of the height of the artificial reef, the artificial reef tilted forward and further scouring was induced.

The variation and structure of the cold water mass around Ganjeol Point during the summer of 2011 were studied using data from CTD observations and temperature monitoring buoys deployed at 20 stations off the southeast coast of Korea. There was a $-12^{\circ}C$ surface temperature difference between the cold water mass and normal water during the monitoring period. Variations in the isothermal lines for surface temperature along the coast showed that the seabed topography at Ganjeol Point played an important part in the distribution of water temperature. Cold water appeared when the wind components running parallel to the coast had positive values. The upwelling -response for temperature fluctuations was very sensitive to changes in wind direction. Vertical turbulent mixing due to the seabed topography at Ganjeol Point can reinforce the upwelling of cold bottom water. From wavelet analysis, coherent periods found to be 2-8 days during frequent upwelling events and phase differences for a decrease in water temperature with a SSW wind were 12-36 hours.

We calculated using siltation model to know the influnce of the tidal current, the tidal level, the sediment transport of seabed around sea area due to the construction of the Song do New city. We calculated the tidal current and based on this we estimated scour, sedimentation using the advection-diffusion equation and accessed the sediment transport of seabed before and after the construction of the New city. Sedimentation was increased in the east coast of Young jong Do, and Scour was increased according to the direction from the front route of north harbor to Ho do. Tidal level was increased overall.
The coast is important area to set up policies in aspects of environmental, international and developing of resources. The researches have been conducted by many different organizations according to their own purposes. So the fundamental researches of Korean coastal area haven't been completed. For that reason, we can't use the datum to apply f3r different cases. In this paper, we studied about our current situations and the need of surveying. For a effective research methods, we suggest dividing research areas into zones and dividing them into smaller zones. And we divide priority of research and ranging of surveying classes by grading them depending on the importance.

Due to floating marine debris, seabed litters, dead shellfishes and polluted sediments, etc. , which are mainly caused by fishery activities in a large scale around the coastline, expansion of industrialized areas from economic development and drastic increase of free time by the improved standard of living, Korean coast is believed to be cast beyond the self purification of marine ecosystem. Seabed litters, if not remedied in a timely manner, will eventually lead to the overall disorder of benthic ecosystem. Thus, in order to prevent marine ecosystem from being thrown into confusion by seabed litters and to restore ocean environments, it is reasonable to investigate the current status of the seabed litters by carrying out an extensive examination on them and to equip ourselves for marine debris with an systemized tool that provides supports to the building process of an efficient methodology of litters disposal through managing related data appropriately. As an primary step to this goal, a systematic method of investigation is presented in this paper. With this methodology, the present state of the seabed titters is properly understood for the specified list of ports.
In this paper, an integrated model for the wave (current)-induced seabed response is presented. The present model consists of two parts: hydrodynamic model for wave-current interactions and poro-elastic seabed model for pore accumulations. In the wave-current model, based on the fifth-order wave theory, ocean waves were generated by adding a source function into the mass conservation equation. Then, currents were simulated through imposing a steady inlet velocity on one domain and pressure outlet on the other side. In addition, both of the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokers (RANS) Equations and $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model would be applied in the fluid field. Once the wave pressures on the seabed calculated through the wave-current interaction model, it would be applied to be boundary conditions on the seabed model. In the seabed model, the poro-elastic theory would be imposed to simulate the seabed soil response. After comparing with the experimental data, the effect of currents on the seabed response would be examined by emphasize on the residual mechanisms of the pore pressure inside the soil. The build-up of the pore water pressure and the resulted liquefaction phenomenon will be fully investigated. A parametric study will also be conducted to examine the effects of waves and currents as well as soil properties on the pore pressure accumulation.

Seabed deformation due to the fault failure have both a spatial variation and temporal history. When the faulting process initiates at a certain point beneath seabed, the failure spreads out to neighboring points, resulting in temporal changes of deformation. In particular, such a process induces tsunami waves from the vertical motion of seabed. The uprising speed of seabed affects the formation of initial surface profile, eventually altering the arrival time and runup of tsunamis at the coast. In this work, we developed a numerical model that can simulate the generation and propagation of tsunami waves by considering the horizontal and vertical changes of seabed in an active and dynamic manner. For the verification of the model, it was applied to the 2011 Tohoku-oki earthquake in Japan and the results confirmed that the accuracy was improved compared to the existing passive and static model.
