This paper presents a measurement system of mechanical property using dual servo system. There are many kinds of method to measure material properties such as tensile test, indention and bending test. It is highly required to measure the properties of nano-sized material and structure. However, It is need more accurate measurement system, more stable and frequency response than conventional test. In this paper, we designed the dual servo system for a measuring instrument The dual servo system consisting of a coarse stage and a fine motion stage with VCM and PZT is proposed. Mechanical mechanism is designed with the leaf spring type of flexure hinge joint. Lead compensator is applied to this control system, and is designed by PQ method.

We have developed a L1 band (1575.42 MHz), C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) code GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver for precise time comparison and evaluated the performance of the receiver. The GPS measurements have been carried out between cesium clocks onboard the GPS satellites and the master clock of Korea Standards Research Institute (KSRI) using the GPS receiver. An accuracy of time transfer better than 100ns was obtained.
UWB signal with high resolution capability can be used to estimate ranging and positioning in wireless personal area network. The node works on its local clock and the frequency differences of nodes have serious affects on ranging algorithms estimating locations of mobile nodes. The low rate UWB, IEEE802.15.4a, describes asynchronous two way ranging methods such as TWR and SDS-TWR working without any additional network synchronization, but the algorithms can not eliminate the effect of clock frequency differences. Therefore, the mechanisms to characterize the crystal difference is essential in typical UWB PHY implementations. In high rate UWB, characterizing of crystal offset with tracking loop is not required. But, detection of the clock frequency offset between the local clock and remote clock can be performed if there is little noise induced jitter. In this paper, we complete related ranging equations of high rate UWB based on TWR with relative frequency offset, and analyze a residual error in the ideal equations. We also evaluate the performance of the relative frequency offset algorithm by simulation and analyze the ranging errors according to the number of TWR to compensate coarse clock resolution. The results show that the relative frequency offset compensation and many times of TWR enhance the performance to converge to a limited ranging errors even with coarse clock resolutions.
In this paper, we propose an audience counting method in an auditorium based on pattern comparison. The previous counting methods based on object detection can't exactly count the audience in real time because auditorium has coarse illumination condition and so many audiences. Therefore, in this paper, we count the audience in an auditorium with fixed seats by the method which the pattern from each reference seat is compared to the pattern from each input seat. Especially, to overcome limitations based on either illumination or noise, two pattern comparison methods are efficiently employed and combined. One is based on the amplitude projection, and the other is based on Walsh-Hadamard Kernel. Walsh-Hadamard Kernel has the characteristic which complements amplitude projection. Therefore, we ran achieve the accurate counting in the presence of coarse illumination and noise. The experimental results show that our method performs well on sequences of images acquired in an auditorium. We also verify a realistic possibility for other applications applying our method to the parking positioning system.

In this paper, a compact 3-DOF mobile microrobot with sub-micron resolution is presented. It has many outstanding features : it is as small as a coin ; its precision is of sub-micrometer resolution on the plane ; it has an unlimited travel range ; and it has simple and compact mechanisms and structures which can be realized at low cost. With the impact actuating mechanism, this system enable both fast coarse motion and highly precise fine motion with a pulse wave input voltage controlled. The 1 -DOF impact actuating mechanism is modeled by taking into consideration the friction between the piezoelectric actuator and base. This modeling technique is extended to simulate the motion of the 3-DOF mobile robot. In addition, experiments are conducted to verify that the simulations accurately represent the real system. The modeling and simulation results will be used to design the model-based controller for the target system. The developed system can be used as a robotic positioning device in the micromanipulation system that determines the position of micro-sized components or particles in a small space, or assemble them in the meso-scale structure.

In this paper, a novel scheme with which to mitigate a repeat-back jamming effect is proposed for the GPS L1 coarse/acquisition signal. The proposed scheme estimates the code tracking bias caused by repeat-back jamming signals using a Combined Pseudo-random noise signal. It then mitigates the repeat-back jamming effect by subtracting the estimated code timing on a normal correlation channel from the estimated value. Through a Monte-Carlo simulation, the proposed scheme can diminish the running average of code tracking bias to less than 10% of the bias using the conventional scheme.

One of the most significant errors in the pseudo-range measurement performance of GNSSes (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) is their multipath error for high-precision applications. Several schemes to mitigate this error have been studied. Most of them, however, have been focused on the GPS (Global Positioning System) L1 C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) signal that was designed in the 1970s and is still being used for civil navigation. Recently, several modernized signals that were especially conceived to more significantly mitigate multipath errors have been introduced, such as Time Multiplexed and Composite Binary Offset Carrier (TMBOC and CBOC, respectively) signals. Despite this advantage, however, a problem remains with the use of TMBOC and CBOC modulations: the ambiguity of BOC (Binary Offset Carrier)-modulated signal tracking. In this paper, a novel unambiguous multipath error mitigation scheme for these modernized signals is proposed. The proposed scheme has the same complexity as HRCs (High Resolution Correlators) but with low ambiguity. The simulation results showed that the proposed scheme outperformed or performed at par with the HRC in terms of their multipath error envelopes and running averages in the static and statistical channel models. The ranging error derived by the mean multipath error of the proposed scheme was below 1.8 meters in an urban area in the statistical channel model.

In this paper, we derive the CRLB (Cramer-Rao Lower Bound) of effective carrier-to-noise power ratio ($C/N_0$) estimation for a GPS (Global Positioning System) L1 C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) signal under band-limited white noise jamming environments. The quality of a received GPS signal is commonly described in terms of its $C/N_0$, implying that the noise is white and thus can be described by scalar noise density. However, if some intentional interference is received to a victim GPS receiver, then the $C/N_0$ is no longer the efficacious performance indicator. The correct and straightforward measurement to analyze the receiving situation is the effective $C/N_0$. In this paper, we consider a band-limited white noise jamming whose bandwidth is 2MHz and is the same as one of the first null-to-null bandwidth of the GPS L1 C/A signal.

A computer vision technique of estimating the location of an unmanned ground vehicle is proposed. Identifying the location of the unmaned vehicle is very important task for automatic navigation of the vehicle. Conventional positioning sensors may fail to work properly in some real situations due to internal and external interferences. Given a DSM(Digital Surface Map), location of the vehicle can be estimated by the registration of the DSM and multiview range images obtained at the vehicle. Registration of the DSM and range images yields the 3D transformation from the coordinates of the range sensor to the reference coordinates of the DSM. To estimate the vehicle position, we first register a range image to the DSM coarsely and then refine the result. For coarse registration, we employ a fast random sample matching method. After the initial position is estimated and refined, all subsequent range images are registered by applying a pair-wise registration technique between range images. To reduce the accumulation error of pair-wise registration, we periodically refine the registration between range images and the DSM. Virtual environment is established to perform several experiments using a virtual vehicle. Range images are created based on the DSM by modeling a real 3D sensor. The vehicle moves along three different path while acquiring range images. Experimental results show that registration error is about under 1.3m in average.
