A Study on the Cobalt Blue Spinel Stains (코발트 청색 채색료에 대한 연구)

  • The cobalt blue spinel stains (main composition; CoO:$Al_2O_3$=1 : 1) in CoO-NiO-$Al_2O_$3 and $CoO-Al_2O_3-Cr_2O_3$ system were prepared by the calcination of each component oxides to be adequate for the factory. The color development, the change of the lattice constnat of the spinel and its application to colored glazes were studied. The results were summarized as follows. 1) In CoO-Al_2O_3$ spinel, the excess addition of each component hardly made any variation in lattice constantand alumina-rich spinel specimens caused the brilliant blue color fade. 2) An increase of $Ni^{2+}$ in $CoO-NiO-Al_2O_3$ system, made the lattice constnat of the $CoO-Al_2O_3$ spinel smaller, and an increase of $Cr^{3+}$ in $CoO-Al_2O_3-Cr_2O_3$, larger. 3) Glazed stains under lead glaze were colored nearly same dark blue color fade.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Magnetic and Electrical Properties of AlN Films with Co Particles

  • AlN thin films containing various amounts of Co, AlN-Co, and Al-Co alloy particles were prepared using a two-facing-target type dc reactive sputtering (TFTS) system. The as-deposited films exhibited the variable nature expected from an AlN-rich phase, and an amorphous-like phase, depending on the Co content in the films. Specific favorable microstructures were prepared by optimizing annealing conditions. Those microstructures and their magnetic properties and resistivity were investigated. As-deposited films showed very small saturation magnetization and an amorphous-like structure. However, when annealed, the as-deposited amorphous-like phase decomposes into phases of AlN, Co and Al-Co. These annealing induced changes in the microstructure improve the magnetization and resistivity of the films. Further improvement of soft magnetic properties could lead to the material being used for high density magnetic recording head material.

  • HVOF(High Velocity Oxygen Fuel)법을 사용한 MCrAlY(M=Ni, Co, Fe)계 열차폐 코팅(thermal barrier coating)은 열기관 내부의 극심한 환경 부하에 대해 구조물 표면에 열적, 화학적 장벽을 형성함으로써 구조물의 내구성을 향상시킨다 이와 동시에 열차폐 효과는 구조물의 온도상승 없이 내부 가동 온도를 높일 수 있게 함으로써 열효율을 상승시키고 연료 효율을 높여 가동비용 절감을 이룰 수 있는 동시에 고 연소를 통한 오염원의 배출을 감소시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 $H_2O$$_2$=5:1 분위기 하에서 HVOF법을 사용하여 Hastelloy-X 기판위에 125$\mu\textrm{m}$의 두께로 다음 5종류의 (Ni, Co, Cr)계 MCrAlY 코팅을 용사시켰다. 준비된 (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Ta, Re), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Re), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Ta), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-Y, (Ni,Co)-Cr-Al-Ir 코팅시편에 대한 산화성질을 조사하기 위해 대기 중 1000, 1100, 120$0^{\circ}C$에서 50, 100, 150, 200시간 등온실험(Isothermal oxidation)을 실시하였고, XRD, SEM/EDS, EPMA를 이용하여 생성된 산화막과 코팅 시편의 조직 변화를 조사하였다. 산화온도와 산화시간이 증가할수록 산화막의 박리가 많이 발생하였으며, 분석 결과 미세하게 분포된 a-Al$_2$O$_3$ 입자, NiCr$_2$O$_4$스피넬 상, 미세한 Cr$_2$O$_3$가 관찰되었고, 코팅 조성 변화에 따라 형성되는 이들 산화물의 존재비가 달라졌으며, 산화온도가 높아질수록 산화속도가 가속화되었다.

Optical Properties of $CdAl_2S_4 : Co_{2+}$ Single Crystal ($CdAl_2S_4 : Co_{2+}$ 단결정의 광학적 특성)

  • The $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$ single crystals were grown by the chemical transport reaction method using iodine as a transport agent. The $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$single crystals were crystallized into a defect chalcopyrite structure. The optical energy gap of the $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$ single crystals was found to be 3.377 eV and 2.924 eV, respectively, at 300 K. Blue emission with peaks in 456nm~466nm at 280K was observed in the $CdAl_2S_4$ single crystal. Optical absorption and emission peaks due to impurities in the $CdAl_2S_4 Co^{2+}$ single crystal were observed and described as originating from the electron transition between energy levels of the $Co^{2+} ion sited at the Td symmetry point.

전동싸리의 생장에 미치는 Al과 Co의 영향

  • 콩과식물인 전동싸리를 대상으로 통제된 조건하에서 Al과 Co처리에 따른 식물체의 생장반응과 식물체내 중금속의 축적정도 및 근류의 질소고정 활성의 변화를 조사한 결과 중금속은 Co가 Al보다 높게 축적되었고, 처리 초기에는 지하부를, 장기간 처리시는 광합성 기관의 생장을 억제했는데, Co 처리는 영향이 미약하였으나, Al처리구는 다소 심각한 영향을 주었으며, 생장에 비해 질소고정계의 피해가 현저하였다. 전동싸리는 흡수된 중금속을 뿌리수준에서 조절함으로써 광합성기관으로 이동을 억제하는 중금속에 대한 생장적응을 나타내었다. 결국 전동싸리는 30ppm의 중금속 처리시 뿌리 수준에서 조절함으로써 광합성기관으로 전이를 차단하여 금속에 대한 내성 나타내었고, Al이 Co보다 심각한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Optical Properties of $CuAl_{1-x}Ga_xSe_2$ and $CuAl_{1-x}Ga_xSe_2:Co^{2+}$ Single Crystals ($CuAl_{1-x}Ga_xSe_2$$CuAl_{1-x}Ga_xSe_2 : Co^{2+}$ 단결정의 광학적 특성)

  • 삼원화합물 반도체 CuAlSe2 및 CuGaSe2 단결정의 solid solution 인 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 및 cobalt를 2.0 mol% 첨가한 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 : Co2+ 단결정을 iodine을 수송물질로 사용한 화학수송법으로 성장시켰 다. source material로는 CuAl1-xGaxSe2 의 화학조성비에서 Se를 3.0mol% 과잉으로 첨가하여 합성한 ingot를 사용하였으며 불순물이 첨가된 CuAl1-xGaxSe2:Co2+ 단결정성장시에는 source ma-terial 에 cobalt 분말을 2.0mol% 첨가하였다. X-선 회절무늬로부터 성장된 단결정들이 chalcopyrite 결정구조를 하고 있음을 확인하였으며 격자상수를 구하였다. 광흡수 spectra 측정으로부터 성장된 단결정에서 나타 는 cobalt 불순물에 의한 광흡수 peak가 Td 대칭점에위치한 Co2+ 이온의 에너지 준위들간 전자전이에 의해 나타남을 규명하였다.

P123-Templated Co3O4/Al2O3 Mesoporous Mixed Oxides for Epoxidation of Styrene

  • $Co_3O_4$, $Al_2O_3$ and $Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$ mesoporous powders were prepared by a sol-gel method with starting matierals of aluminum isopropoxide and cobalt (II) nitrate. A P123 template is employed as an active organic additive for improving the specific surface area of the mixed oxide by forming surfactant micelles. A transition metal cobalt oxide supported on alumina with and without P123 was tested to find the most active and selective conditions as a heterogeneous catalyst in the reaction of styrene epoxidation. A bBlock copolymer-P123 template was added to the staring materials to control physical and chemical properties. The properties of $Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$ powder with and without P123 were characterized using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), a Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), a Bruner-Emmertt-Teller (BET) surface analyzer, and $^{27}Al$ MAS NMR spectroscopy. Powders with and without P123 were compared in catalytic tests. The catalytic activity and selectivity were monitored by GC/MS, $^1H$, and $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopy. The performance for the reaction of epoxidation of styrene was observed to be in the following order: [$Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$ with P123-1173 K > $Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$ with P123-973 K > $Co_3O_4$-973 K>$Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$-973 K > $Co_3O_4$/$Al_2O_3$ with P123-1473 K > $Al_2O_3$-973 K]. The existence of ${\gamma}$-alumina and the nature of the surface morphology are related to catalytic activity.

Coloration and Chemical Stability of SiO2 and SnO2 Coated Blue CoAl2O4 Pigment (SiO2, SnO2 코팅된 청색 CoAl2O4 안료의 색상, 물성 평가 연구)

  • This work describes the coloration, chemical stability of $SiO_2$ and $SnO_2$-coated blue $CoAl_2O_4$ pigment. The $CoAl_2O_4$, raw materials, were synthesized by a co-precipitation method and coated with silica ($SiO_2$) and tin oxide ($SnO_2$) using sol-gel method, respectively. To study phase and coloration of $CoAl_2O_4$, we prepared nano sized $CoAl_2O_4$ pigments which were coated $SiO_2$ and $SnO_2$ using tetraethylorthosilicate, $Na_2SiO_3$ and $Na_2SiO_3$ as a coating material. To determine the stability of the coated samples and their colloidal solutions under acidic and basic conditions, colloidal nanoparticle solutions with various pH values were prepared and monitored over time. Blue $CoAl_2O_4$ solutions were tuned yellow color under all acidic/basic conditions. On the other hand, the chemical stability of $SiO_2$ and $SnO_2$-coated $CoAl_2O_4$ solution were improved when all samples pH values, respectively. Phase stability under acidic/basic condition of the core-shell type $CoAl_2O_4$ powders were characterized by transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color parameter measurements.

A Study on Reaction Characteristics of $CO_2$ Conversion Methanation over Pt Catalysts for Reduction of GHG (온실가스 저감을 위한 Pt계 촉매상 $CO_2$ Methanation 전환반응 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study presents the $CO_2$ methanation reaction on Pt catalysts for reducing the amount of $CO_2$, one of greenhouse gases. The AlO(OH) of $Al_2O_3$precusor was used as a support via a thermal treatment and the Pt was used as an active metal. In XRD results, it was confirmed that the Pt was well dispersed and the support existed as the gamma $Al_2O_3$phase. The $Pt/Al_2O_3$ catalyst calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ showed the highest conversion efficiency and selectivity.

$NiFe/Co/Al_2O_3/Co/IrMn$ 접합의 터널링 자기저항효과

  • $NiFe/Co/Al_2O_3/Co/IrMn$ tunneling junctions were grown on (100)Si wafer and their spin-valve tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) was studied. The tunneling junctions were grown by using a 5-gun RF/DC magnetron sputter. $Al_2O_3$ barrier layer was formed by exposing Al layer to oxygen atmosphere at 6$0^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours. Strong exchange coupling interaction is observed between the ferromagnetic Co and the antiferromagnetic IrMn of Co/IrMn bilayer when IrMn is 100$\AA$ thick. $NiFe(183\;{\AA})/Co(17\;{\AA})/Al_2O_3(16\;{\AA})/Co(100\;{\AA})/IrMn(100\;{\AA})$ tunneling junction shows best TMR ratio of about 10% in the applied magnetic field range of $\pm$20 Oe. The TMR ratio is improved about 23% and electrical resistance is decreased about 34% when annealed at 200 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour in magnetic field of 330 Oe, parallel to the bottom electrode. With increasing the active area of junction the TMR ratio increases while electrical resistance decreases.
