Large residual stresses are remained in the conventional injection molded products because of the high cavity pressure in packing phase during injection molding process. Conventional injection molding (CIM) invokes distribution of cavity pressure and it has a limitation to obtain product with uniform physical property. Multi-cavity conventional injection molding contains quality deviation among the cavities since flow imbalance occurs during filling phase. Injection compression molding (ICM) is adopted to overcome these limitations of CIM. In this study, molding characteristics of CIM and ICM have been investigated using multi-cavity injection mold. Researches were performed by both experiment and computer simulation through observations of birefringence for transparent resins, polycarbonate and polystyrene in CIM and ICM. As a result, low and uniform birefringence and mold shrinkage were showed in the specimens by ICM that could give a uniform cavity pressure. Deviation of physical property among the specimens in multi-cavity mold shown in CIM was significantly reduced in the specimens by ICM. Through this study it was concluded that the ICM in multi-cavity molding was valid for molding products with uniform property in an individual cavity and also reduced property deviation among the cavities.

In this study the compatibility of Epoxy resin with Phenolic using three different separation layer techniques was investigated; some important process variables such as pressure, flow front and deformation were monitored in order to get a better understanding of the process.
Various manufacturing technologies, including over-molding and insert-injection molding, are used to produce hybrid plastics and metals. However, there are disadvantages to these technologies, as they require several steps in manufacturing and are limited to what can be reasonably achieved within the complexities of part geometry. This study aims to determine a practical approach for producing metal/plastic hybrid components by combining plastic injection molding and metal die casting to create a new hybrid metal/plastic molding process. The integrated metal/plastic hybrid injection molding process developed in this study uses the proven method of multi-component technology as a basis to combine plastic injection molding with metal die casting into one integrated process. In this study, the electrical conductivity and ampacity were verified to qualify the new process for the production of parts used in electronic devices. The electrical conductivity was measured, contacting both sides of the test sample with constant pressure, and the resistivity was measured using a micro ohmmeter. Also, the specific conductivity was subsequently calculated from the resistivity and contact surface of the conductor path. The ampacity defines the maximum amount of current a conductive path can carry before sustaining immediate or progressive deterioration. The manufactured hybrid multi-components were loaded with increasing currents, while the temperature was recorded with an infrared camera. To compare the measured infrared images, an electro-thermal simulation was conducted using commercial CAE software to predict the maximum temperature of the power loaded parts. Overall, during the injection molding process, it was demonstrated that multifunctional parts can be produced for electric and electronic applications.

The present work covers three-dimensional flow simulation and deformation analysis of injection molded plastic lenses using solid elements. A numerical scheme to evaluate part deformation has been proposed from the results of injection molding analysis. Proposed scheme has been applied to the injection molding processes of optical plastic lenses: a spherical lens and an aspheric lens for a photo pick-up device. Through the simulation processes. residual stress is estimated and the final deformed patters are obtained for both products. The reliability of the proposed approach has also been verified in comparison with the results of real experiments.

The environmental pollution which is global warming and abnormal climate is caused by increasing population and activated economics. To reduce environmental pollution, we have being efforts into reducing $CO_2$ emission and use of energy, resources. Especially, for the sake of light weight and fuel efficiency of automotive industry, many countries have defined the restrict environmental regulation which stipulate high magnitude of reducing $CO_2$ emission. In this study, we have predicted the problem of Mu-cell injection molding through the finite element analysis as a function of temperature controlled by Joule heating or in terms of mold temperature. From the result of finite element analysis, we have determined the optimized process and made the injection mold included electric current heating system with Mu-cell manufacturing. Lastly, we analyzed the surface characteristics of the injection products with mold temperature.
The water has been the suitable for the cooling medium until now. But the water as cooling medium seem to have the limit for high speed injection. The steam plastic molding injection use the steam as the medium when raise the mold temperature. The weld line has been the major quality problems in a plastic injection parts to be difficult to be solved. These problems in injection-molded plastic parts are difficult to find the reason because these issues are usually in tradeoff realtions with each other. The purpose of this paper is to obtain the optimum injection moulding condition for improving the quality of plastic injection parts and to inquire the productivity improvement with the measured cycle time by steam plastic moluding injection. Based on these numerical results, the guidelines of mould design and injection processing condition were established. As a result, the improvement of quality and the reduction of cycle time was achieved.

The production method of micro sacrificial plastic mold insert metal injection molding, namely ${\mu}-SPiMIM$ process has been proposed to solve specific problems involving the miniaturization of MIM. Two types of sacrificial plastic molds (SP-mold) with fine structures were used: 1) PMMA resist, 2) PMMA mold injected into Ni-electroform, which is a typical LIGA (${\underline{L}}ithographie-{\underline{G}}alvanoformung-{\underline{A}}bformung$) process. Stainless steel 316L feedstock was injection-molded into the SP-molds with multi-pillar structures. This study focused on the effects of metal particle size and processing conditions on the shrinkage, transcription and surface roughness of sintered parts.

Foam reaction injection molding (FRIM) is a widely used process for manufacturing polyurethane foam with complex shapes. The modified theoretical model for polyurethane foam forming reaction during FRIM process was established in our previous work. In this study, using the modified model, parametric study for FRIM process was performed in order to optimize experimental conditions of FRIM process such as initial temperature of mold, thickness of mold, and injection amount of polymerizing mixture. In addition, we applied the modified model to real application of refrigerator cabinet to determine optimal manufacturing conditions for polyurethane FRIM process.
