Sinusoidal Map Jumping Gravity Search Algorithm Based on Asynchronous Learning

  • To address the problems of the gravitational search algorithm (GSA) in which the population is prone to converge prematurely and fall into the local solution when solving the single-objective optimization problem, a sine map jumping gravity search algorithm based on asynchronous learning is proposed. First, a learning mechanism is introduced into the GSA. The agents keep learning from the excellent agents of the population while they are evolving, thus maintaining the memory and sharing of evolution information, addressing the algorithm's shortcoming in evolution that particle information depends on the current position information only, improving the diversity of the population, and avoiding premature convergence. Second, the sine function is used to map the change of the particle velocity into the position probability to improve the convergence accuracy. Third, the Levy flight strategy is introduced to prevent particles from falling into the local optimization. Finally, the proposed algorithm and other intelligent algorithms are simulated on 18 benchmark functions. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieved improved the better performance.

  • This paper presents a genetic programming based evolutionary strategy for on-line adaptive learnable evolvable hardware. Genetic programming can be useful control method for evolvable hardware for its unique tree structured chromosome. However it is difficult to represent tree structured chromosome on hardware, and it is difficult to use crossover operator on hardware. Therefore, genetic programming is not so popular as genetic algorithms in evolvable hardware community in spite of its possible strength. We propose a chromosome representation methods and a hardware implementation method that can be helpful to this situation. Our method uses context switchable identical block structure to implement genetic tree on evolvable hardware. We composed an evolutionary strategy for evolvable hardware by combining proposed method with other's striking research results. Proposed method is applied to the autonomous mobile robots cooperation problem to verify its usefulness.

  • It is well known that Variable Structure Controller(VSC) is robust to parameters variation and disturbance but its performance depends on the design parameters such as switching gain and slope of sliding surface. This paper proposes a more robust VSC that is composed of local VSC's. Each local VSC considers the local system dynamics which has narrow parameter variation and disturbance. We optimize the local VSC's by use of Evolution Strategy, and then we use Artificial Neural Network to generalize the local VSC's and construct the overall VSC in order to cover the whole range of parameter variation and disturbance. Simulation on BLDC motor current control has verified the proposed VSC is superior to the conventional VSC.

게임 이론에 기반한 공진화 알고리즘 (Game Theory Based Co-Evolutionary Algorithm (GCEA))

  • 게임 이론은 의사 결정 문제와 관련 된 연구와 함께 정립 된 수학적 분석법으로써 1928년 Von Neumann이 유한개의 순수전략이 존재하는 2인 영합게임은 결정적(deterministic)이라는 것을 증명함으로써 수학적 기반을 정립하였고 50년대 초, Nash는 Von Neumann의 이론을 일반화하는 개념을 제안함으로써 현대적 게임이론의 장을 열었다. 이후 진화 생물학 연구자들에 의해 고전적인 게임 이론의 가정에 해당하는 참가자들의 합리성(rationality) 대신 다윈 선택(Darwinian selection)에 의해 게임의 해를 탐색하는 것이 가능하다는 것이 밝혀지게 되었고 진화 생물학자 Maynard Smith에 의해 진화적 안정 전략(Evolutionary Stable Strategy: ESS)의 개념이 정립되면서 현대적 게임 이론으로써 진화적 게임 이론이 체계화 되었다. 한편 이와 같은 진화적 게임 이론에 관한 연구와 함께 생태계의 공진화를 이용한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션이 1991년 Hillis에 의해 처음으로 시도되었으며 Kauffman은 다른 종들 간의 공진화적 동역학(dynamics)을 분석하기 위한 NK 모델을 제안하였다. Kauffman은 이 모델을 이용하여 공진화 현상이 어떻게 정적 상태(static state)에 이르며 이 상태들은 게임 이론에서 소개되어진 내쉬 균형이나 ESS에 해당한다는 것을 보여주었다. 이후, 몇몇 연구자들 게임 이론과 진화 알고리즘에 기반한 연산 모델들을 제시해 왔으나 실용적인 문제의 적용에 대한 연구는 아직 미흡한 편이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 게임 이론에 기반 한 공진화 알고리즘을(Game theory based Co-Evolutionary Algorithm: GCEA) 제안하고 이 알고리즘을 이용하여 공진화적인 문제들을 효과적으로 해결할 수 있음을 확인하는 것을 목표로 한다.

원격송신국을 활용하는 이종 네트워크 시스템의 성능 개선 방안 (A Performance Enhancement Scheme for Heterogeneous Network Systems Utilizing Remote Radio Heads)

  • 본 논문에서는 원격송신국을 활용하는 이종 네트워크 시스템 (HetNet, heterogeneous network)에서 다수의 전송 노드가 협력적으로 신호를 전송하여 셀 경계에 위치한 사용자의 성능 개선을 위한 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 셀 경계지역의 특정 위치에 원격송신국을 배치하며, 기지국과 셀 경계 원격송신국 간의 동작 빈도를 조정함으로써 효율적인 동작 방식을 제안한다. 특히 제안방식에서는 LTE-Advanced (Long Term Evolution - Advanced) 표준 회의에서 논의되고 있는 CoMP (coordinated multi-point transmission and reception) 시나리오에서의 시스템 모델 파라미터를 사용한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 활용하여 실험 결과의 신뢰성을 높였다. 또한 기존의 방식과의 비교를 통해 셀 경계지역에 원격송신국을 위치시킴으로 특히 평균 전송률 측면의 하위 사용자 성능을 향상시키는 효과가 있음을 보임으로써 사용자 간의 공평성 문제를 개선할 수 있는 방식임을 입증한다.

화학제품 운반선 수평 파형격벽의 최소중량설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Minimum Weight Design of Horizontal Corrugated Bulkheads for Chemical Tankers)

  • 파형격벽은 보강격벽에 비해 많은 장점을 갖고 있어 살물선, 정유운반선, 화학제품 운반선의 화물창 격벽으로 사용되고 있다. 살물선 파형격벽의 최적 파형을 구하기 위한 연구는 비교적 활발하게 수행되어 왔으나, 고가의 재질로 구성되어 최적설계 시 경제적 효과가 가장 클 것으로 예상되는 화학제품 운반선에 대한 연구는 거의 찾아보기 어렵다. 화학제품 운반선의 파형격벽은 크게 수직 파형격벽과 수평 파형격벽으로 구분할 수 있으며, 수평 파형격벽은 다른 선종에서는 볼 수 없는 특별한 형태의 격벽으로 30K급 실적선의 경우 전체 파형격벽의 30% 정도를 차지하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 화학제품 운반선의 수평 파형격벽에 대한 최소중량설계 방법을 개발하는 것으로, 최적화 기법으로는 진화전략 기법을 도입하여 전체 최소점을 신뢰성 있게 탐색하였고 최적의 결과를 주는 설계변수 값이더라도 현장의 작업성을 위반하면 도태되도록 하여 현장 적용성을 높였다. 또한, 유한요소법에 의한 구조해석을 통해 도출된 최적설계 결과에 대한 구조 안전성을 검증하였다. 최적화 결과에 따른 수평 파형격벽의 설계는 실적선과 비교하여 동등 수준의 구조강도를 확보하면서도 약 14%의 중량 절감 효과를 보였으며, 이에 따라 설계 및 제작 공수를 줄이는데도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

고객참여 기반의 지속가능한 비즈니스 생태계 조성 (Customer Participation Driven Sustainable Business Ecosystems)

  • Purpose - A business ecosystem refers to mutually dependent systems interconnected by a loose foundation of various ecosystem members such as customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders. The ecosystem-based strategy attempts to achieve competitive advantage for firms by enriching a business ecosystem or building a sustainable business ecosystem through the collaboration and co-evolution of its members. A sustainable business ecosystem is a source of competitiveness for firms anda manageable resource for gaining a competitive advantage. Customers represent the core membership of the business ecosystem and play a pivotal role in building a sustainable business ecosystem. This study examines the effects of customer participation on economic and social value in the business ecosystem and suggests a course of action for building a sustainable business ecosystem. Research design, data, and methodology - Two business cases of South Korea are selected from two different business types: business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) firms. Business ecosystems for B2B and B2C firms reflect contrasting characteristics. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with four representatives of four firms. Results - The study suggested seven propositions for the relationships between customer participation and a sustainable business ecosystem through multiple case studies based on in-depth interviews. The results reveal the following four strategic actions for building sustainable business ecosystems based on the suggested propositions: alignment, systemization, socialization, and co-evolution. Alignment refers to achieving a harmonic balance or virtuous circle among the firm's mission, investment, and value creation. Systemization refers to building and implementing management and infrastructure systems rooted in the corporate culture. Socialization of customers in the business ecosystem reinforces the harmony or virtuous cycle. Finally, co-evolution is associated with the relationship between firms and customers as buyer firms in a restricted business ecosystem. Conclusions - This study considers multiple cases for the execution of a sustainable business ecosystem in collaboration with customers and suggests seven propositions and four strategic actions. The results are based on qualitative data from interviews with business associates from two firms in an open business ecosystem and two firms in a restricted business ecosystem, both in South Korea. Our research results regarding two contrasting business ecosystems shed light on business issues and policy making in Asian business environments, which are in the transition stages from a traditional conglomerate-driven to an inclusive growth-driven economy. The business ecosystem itself should be considered a manageable resource for firms' competitive positions in the market. A customer is a member of the business ecosystem and should thus be viewed not only as a purchasing entity and an object of relationship management but also as a co-creator of value. Therefore, firms should collaborate with customers to build sustainable business ecosystems. For this, firms must create social value, which cannot be created by customers alone, within the business ecosystem. Then, customers participate in a business ecosystem and build it to be favorable to them. Implications for academics and practitioners were suggested.

  • The aim of this study is to understand and redefine the nature of architectural environment within the paradigm of natural science. The chaos theory non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory self-organization of modern physics offer new insights to explain not only natural phenomena but also to define creative and dynamic architectural environment. First natural laws in modern physics like the arrow of time but is related not only with certainty but also possibility so nature is understood as a constantly changing process of evolution. Second the new architectural environment is defined as a kind of fluid and irreducible organic biosytem that cannot be fully understood by modernist idea of architecture. It is conceived of as a fluid constantly changing self-oraganizing system that consists of different situations events movements and programs in uncertain and irreducible time frame. Third insights and implications of natural science offer new language and strategy for design and the two disciplines can be understood as interdependent and co-evolving

소비자 문화 트렌드 변화에 따른 현대 패션산업 특성 고찰 - 리처드 도킨스의 밈(meme) 이론을 중심으로 - (A Study of Contemporary Fashion Industry According as the Change of Customer's Cultural Trend - Focusing on the 'Meme' Theory of Richard Dowkins -)

  • This research is a follow-up study about analysis on the many different customer groups and their various culture trend, which intends to realize diverse values depending on the sense. The purpose of this study was to develop direction forecast for the future fashion industry through consideration about the characteristics of contemporary fashion industry by the change of different customer's culture trend. And also try to find solution to survival strategy of fashion fields able to evolve with customer. Change of the customer's cultural trend draws a shift in policy in the 21st fashion industry as follows : 1) mash-up 2) complexation through decentering and blurring 3) invisible and immaterial value oriented 4) expansion of minor small market. Moreover, this shows sociocultural meaning as follows. First is spread of flexible and horizontal relationship through collaborative consumption and collaboration. Second is concentration on floating and indeterminate chance through dismantling of various different fashion categories. Third is formation of the permanent difference by selection and focus. Last is expansion of understanding about cultural-ecology. Customer cultural trend is 'meme' of cultural gene in fashion field, so it intends to co-evolute with customer by continuous change.

LIMITED OXIDATION OF IRRADIATED GRAPHITE WASTE TO REMOVE SURFACE CARBON-14

  • Large quantities of irradiated graphite waste from graphite-moderated nuclear reactors exist and are expected to increase in the case of High Temperature Reactor (HTR) deployment [1,2]. This situation indicates the need for a graphite waste management strategy. Of greatest concern for long-term disposal of irradiated graphite is carbon-14 ($^{14}C$), with a half-life of 5730 years. Fachinger et al. [2] have demonstrated that thermal treatment of irradiated graphite removes a significant fraction of the $^{14}C$, which tends to be concentrated on the graphite surface. During thermal treatment, graphite surface carbon atoms interact with naturally adsorbed oxygen complexes to create $CO_x$ gases, i.e. "gasify" graphite. The effectiveness of this process is highly dependent on the availability of adsorbed oxygen compounds. The quantity and form of adsorbed oxygen complexes in pre- and post-irradiated graphite were studied using Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and Xray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) in an effort to better understand the gasification process and to apply that understanding to process optimization. Adsorbed oxygen fragments were detected on both irradiated and unirradiated graphite; however, carbon-oxygen bonds were identified only on the irradiated material. This difference is likely due to a large number of carbon active sites associated with the higher lattice disorder resulting from irradiation. Results of XPS analysis also indicated the potential bonding structures of the oxygen fragments removed during surface impingement. Ester- and carboxyl-like structures were predominant among the identified oxygen-containing fragments. The indicated structures are consistent with those characterized by Fanning and Vannice [3] and later incorporated into an oxidation kinetics model by El-Genk and Tournier [4]. Based on the predicted desorption mechanisms of carbon oxides from the identified compounds, it is expected that a majority of the graphite should gasify as carbon monoxide (CO) rather than carbon dioxide ($CO_2$). Therefore, to optimize the efficiency of thermal treatment the graphite should be heated to temperatures above the surface decomposition temperature increasing the evolution of CO [4].
