내페이드와 힐스타트 가상 시험을 통한 수동변속기 클러치 시스템의 온도 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study of Temperature Predictions for Manual Transmission Clutch System via Anti-fade and Hill Start Virtual Test)

  • Excessive overheating to a manual transmission clutch system under operating conditions can be considered the main reason of its performance degradation. The clutch system has to be ensured with its service life by showing that it passes the extreme tests called anti-fade test and hill start test in a certain design step. In general, design feedbacks from these kinds of the experiments are adapted to the system to enhance its performance. However, it usually takes much time and costs a lot due to the repetition of the tests. In this research, a process to calculate temperature of the clutch system was developed to determine whether the design can be passed the anti-fade test and hill start test in the design phase. The process incorporates many CAE techniques such as heat transfer analysis using 1D dynamic simulation method, system dynamics, CFD and parametric optimization. CFD is utilized to analyze 3-dimensional heat transfer of the clutch system and fluid dynamics of air in the clutch housing. The process was applied for the clutch systems in several vehicle models. The results was compared with those of the experiment. The applicability of the developed process was verified by comparing the predicted results with experimental results.

  • The wear properties of clutch facing materials with two different copper amounts were evaluated against the fly-wheel materials used in clutch system, such as gray cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron. Sliding wear tests were carried out for four different combinations with these clutch facing materials and flywheel materials at different speeds and applied loads. Results showed that the clutch facing material contained a higher copper amount had the better wear resistance. And using the gray cast iron as the counter material, clutch facing material resulted in the much lower wear rate, regardless of the copper amount. It is obvious that the wear properties of clutch facing material are influenced from the thermal conductivities of the clutch facing material and the counter material.

  • ER clutch is a device using ER fluid, so called "intelligent material" and is a controlled system with electric field strength. Currently, the temperature of ER fluid increases and affects the performance of ER clutch when ER clutch is operating. This study was undertaken to estimate this performance variation due to temperature rise of ER fluid. An analytic heat transfer model of concentric cylinder type ER clutch was developed and with this model, effects of changing geometric, kinetic parameters of ER clutch and ER fluid properties were described. In conclusion, compared with neglecting thermal effects, a performance of ER clutch was very differential and for uniform performance of ER clutch, we have to improve thermal stability of ER fluid.   • During driving an automobile, drivers push the clutch and transmit gear by their feeling. At the automobile which have the manually operated gear box by using apart designed equipment, for get the semi-auto function, a lot of research to realize the system which have passive transmission and automotive transmission has developed. In this paper, basically using one chip .mu.-comcontrolled the clutch of automobile by means of LPF, F/V converter and TR driver circuit which is designed. In the past, it was controlled the motor by operating relay which is int eh output system to control the clutch. This system some noises is made by on and off the relay, lessen the motor speed and causes many error due to consume the large power on driving the motor. In this paper, to solve these problems the output TR is operated by using one chip .mu.-com decrease the electic power consumption and designed the actuator to control the clutch by measns of vacuum.

  • The engine cooling system is a device that keeps the temperature of the engine room at a proper level by driving the cooling fan when the engine room temperature that occurs during driving is above a certain temperature. Recently, the vehicle cooling system has been changed to electronic system. Therefore, in this paper, we will analyze the clutch operation characteristics for designing a superior electronic fan clutch. For this purpose, an electronic fan clutch was designed and a test bed for performance evaluation was constructed and analyzed.

  • This paper presents temperature control of engine cooling system using a controllable magnetorheological (MR) fan clutch. An appropriate size of MR fan clutch is devised and modeled on the basis of Bingham model. Subsequently, an optimization to determine design parameters such as width of housing is undertaken by choosing the reciprocal of the controllable torque as an objective function. Under consideration of spatial limitation, design parameters are optimally determined using finite element analysis. A sliding mode controller is then designed to control the angular velocity of the MR fan clutch using experimentally determined parameters. The designed controller is experimentally implemented and control performances of the MR fan clutch system are evaluated.

  • With the growing traffic density and increasing comfort requirements, the automation of the drive train will gain importance in vehicles. The automatic clutch actuation relieves the drivers especially in urban driving and stop-and-go traffic conditions. In this paper, an electro-mechanical actuator for clutch-by-wire (CBW) system is implemented as the first stage for the development of automated manual transmissions. The prototype of CBW actuator is designed systematically, which is composed of the electric motor, worm & worm wheel and crank mechanism. And the test rig is developed to perform the basic function test for the automatic clutch actuation. The developed prototype is validated by the experimental results on the test rig.

  • This paper describes an automatic parts design system for gears, brake, and clutch. These parts are important components of the power transmission assembly. In conventional design process, the design of power transmission requires a number of recurrent calculations and drawings. In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional automatic design system that reduces the number of recurrent calculations and drawings. The system consists of three modules for designing gear, brake, and clutch. The proposed system has been applied to develop a transmission of forklift truck and shown to be a useful system.

  • In previous paper, the wear properties of clutch facing materials with two different copper amounts against fly-wheel materials used in the clutch system were investigated by sliding wear tests at different applied loads and speeds. This paper have been aimed to evaluate the friction properties for clutch facing materials at the same test conditions as the previous paper. The experimental results indicated that the friction properties of clutch facing materials are influenced from the thermal conductivities of the clutch facing material and the counter material. The clutch facing material with the lower thermal conductivity and the fly-wheel material with the higher thermal conductivity showed the low and stable friction coefficient in the range of high sliding speed. This appears to be due to the formation of a film on the surface of the fly-wheel material.
