Mobile Ad-hoc Network(MANET) could provide the reliable monitoring and control of a variety of environments for remote place. Mobility of MANET would require the topology change frequently compared with a static network. To improve the routing protocol in MANET, energy efficient routing protocol would be required as well as considering the mobility would be needed. In this paper, we propose a new method that the CACH(Context-aware Clustering Hierarchy) algorithm, a hybrid and clustering-based protocol that could analyze the link cost from a source node to a destination node. The proposed analysis could help in defining the optimum depth of hierarchy architecture CACH utilize. The proposed CACH could use localized condition to enable adaptation and robustness for dynamic network topology protocol and this provide that our hierarchy to be resilient.

For an energy harvesting sensor network, when the network lifetime is not the only primary goal, maximizing the network performance under environmental energy harvesting becomes a more critical issue. However, clustering protocols that aim at providing maximum information throughput have not been thoroughly explored in Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks (EH-WSNs). In this paper, clustering protocols are studied for maximizing the data transmission in the whole network. Based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) energy predictor and node energy consumption and supplement models, an uneven clustering protocol is proposed where the cluster head selection and cluster size control are thoroughly designed for this purpose. Simulations and results verify that the proposed scheme can outperform some classic schemes by having more data packets received by the cluster heads (CHs) and the base station (BS) under these energy constraints. The outcomes of this paper also provide some insights for choosing clustering routing protocols in EH-WSNs, by exploiting the factors such as uneven clustering size, number of clusters, multiple CHs, multihop routing strategy, and energy supplementing period.
A mobile Ad Hoc network is a dynamic mobile wireless network that can be formed without the need for any pre-existing wired or wireless infrastructure. A mobile ad hoc node has limited battery capacity. Hence, Ad Hoc routing protocol ought to be energy conservative. Previous energy aware routing has limit in fairness among nodes and network wide power consumption. In this research, we propose a new routing protocol called Clustering Based Energy-Aware Routing(CBEAR) which can improve the problems. Simulation results show that the routing protocol improves fairness and network wide power consumption as well as life time of nodes.

In resource constrained sensor networks, usage of efficient routing protocols can have significant impact on energy dissipation. To save energy, we propose an energy efficient routing protocol. In our approach, which integrates clustering and routing in sensor networks, we perform network coding during data routing in order to achieve additional power savings in the cluster head nodes. Efficacy of the proposed method in terms of the throughput and end-to-end delay is demonstrated through simulation results. Significant network lifetime is also achieved as compared with other techniques.

With the prevalence of multimedia applications and the potential commercial usage of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) in group communications, Quality of Service (QoS) support became a key requirement. Recently, some researchers studied QoS multicast issues in MANETs. Most of the existing QoS multicast routing protocols are designed with flat topology and small networks in mind. In this paper, we investigate the scalability problem of these routing protocols. In particular, a Position-Based QoS Multicast Routing Protocol (PBQMRP) has been developed. PBQMRP builds a source multicast tree guided by the geographic information of the mobile nodes, which helps in achieving more efficient multicast delivery. This protocol depends on the location information of the multicast members which is obtained using a location service algorithm. A virtual backbone structure has been proposed to perform this location service with minimum overhead and this structure is utilized to provide efficient packet transmissions in a dynamic mobile Ad hoc network environment. The performance of PBQMRP is evaluated by performing both quantitative analysis and extensive simulations. The results show that the used virtual clustering is very useful in improving scalability and outperforms other clustering schemes. Compared to On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP), PBQMRP achieves competing packet delivery ratio and significantly lower control overhead.

In this paper, we address a real-world periodic vehicle routing problem with time windows (PVRPTW). In addition to the general requirements of single-day vehicle routing problem, each stop has required number of visits within a cycle period in PVRPTW. Thus, we need to determine optimized days of visit for each stop with consideration of the cycle-period days together. The problem also requires consistent vehicle assignment to the stops. We developed a clustering based 3-phase approach for this problem: 1) stop-route assignment, 2) stop-day assignment, and 3) stop sequencing within a single-day route. Using the approach, we could reduce the number of routes and improve the routing efficiency for several real-world problems.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), cluster based data routing protocols have the advantages of reducing energy consumption and link maintenance cost. Unfortunately, most of clustering protocols have been designed for uniformly distributed sensor networks. However, some urgent situations do not allow thousands of sensor nodes being deployed uniformly. For example, air vehicles or balloons may take the responsibility for deploying sensor nodes hence leading a normally distributed topology. In order to improve energy efficiency in such sensor networks, in this paper, we propose a new cluster formation algorithm named DAEEC (Density Aware Energy-Efficient Clustering). In this algorithm, we define two kinds of clusters: Low Density (LD) clusters and High Density (HD) clusters. They are determined by the number of nodes participated in one cluster. During the data routing period, the HD clusters help the neighbor LD clusters to forward the sensed data to the central base station. Thus, DAEEC can distribute the energy dissipation evenly among all sensor nodes by considering the deployment density to improve network lifetime and average energy savings. Moreover, because the HD clusters are densely deployed they can work in a manner of our former algorithm EEVAR (Energy Efficient Variable Area Routing Protocol) to save energy. According to the performance analysis result, DAEEC outperforms the conventional data routing schemes in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime.

Centralized hierarchical routing protocols are often used to solve the problems of uneven energy consumption and short network life in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Clustering and cluster head election have become the focuses of WSNs. In this paper, an energy balanced clustering routing algorithm optimized by sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is proposed. Firstly, optimal cluster head number per round is determined according to surviving node, and the candidate cluster head set is formed by selecting high-energy node. Secondly, a random population with a certain scale is constructed to represent a group of cluster head selection scheme, and fitness function is designed according to inter-cluster distance. Thirdly, the SCA algorithm is improved by using monotone decreasing convex function, and then a certain number of iterations are carried out to select a group of individuals with the minimum fitness function value. From simulation experiments, the process from the first death node to 80% only needs about 30 rounds. This improved algorithm balances the energy consumption among nodes and avoids premature death of some nodes. And it greatly improves the energy utilization and extends the effective life of the whole network.

A sensor network is made up of many sensors deployed in different areas to be monitored. They communicate with each other through a wireless medium. The routing of collected data in the wireless network consumes most of the energy of the network. In the literature, several routing approaches have been proposed to conserve the energy at the sensor level and overcome the challenges inherent in its limitations. In this paper, we propose a new low-energy routing protocol for power grids sensors based on an unsupervised clustering approach. Our protocol equitably harnesses the energy of the selected cluster-head nodes and conserves the energy dissipated when routing the captured data at the Base Station (BS). The simulation results show that our protocol reduces the energy dissipation and prolongs the network lifetime.

An ad-hoc wireless network provides self-organizing data networking while they are routing of packets among themselves. Typically multi-hop and control packets overhead affects the change of route of transmission. There are numerous routing protocols have been developed for ad hoc wireless networks as the size of the network scale. Hence the scalable routing protocol would be needed for energy efficient various network routing environment conditions. The number of depth or layer of hierarchical clustering nodes are analyzed the different clustering structure with topology in this paper. To estimate the energy efficient number of cluster layer and energy dissipation are studied based on distributed homogeneous spatial Poisson process with context-awareness nodes condition. The simulation results show that CACHE-R could be conserved the energy of node under the setting the optimal layer given parameters.
