This study explores sound alternations in a consonant cluster in which at least one consonant is a sonorant (a son/C cluster, hereafter). In this study, I argue that phonological processes affecting son/C clusters result from low perceptual salience rather than from the Syllable Contact Law as discussed in Vennemann (1988), Clements (1990), Rice & Avery (1991), Baertsch & Davis (2000), among others. That is, as a main factor motivating the alternations in the cluster, I consider contrasts of weak perceptibility triggered by phonetic similarity between two members of a cluster (Kawasaki 1982, Ohala 1992, 1993). Based on the findings from a typological survey in 31 different languages, I show that a speech perception-based account makes a correct prediction regarding the patterning of sonorant/sonorant sequences and that of obstruent/sonorant sequences, while the syllable contact account does not.
A cell formation approach based on cluster analysis is developed for the configuration of manufacturing cells. Cell formation, which is to group machines and parts into machine cells and the associated part families, is implemented to add the flexibility and efficiency to manufacturing systems. In order to develop an efficient clustering procedure, this paper proposes a cluster analysis-based approach developed by incorporating and modifying two cluster analysis methods, a hierarchical clustering and a non-hierarchical clustering method. The objective of the proposed approach is to minimize intercellular movements and maximize the machine utilization within clusters. The proposed approach is tested on the cell formation problems and is compared with other well-known methodologies available in the literature. The result shows that the proposed approach is efficient enough to yield a good quality solution no matter what the difficulty of data sets is, ill or well-structured.
Data filtering is an essential task for improving the energy efficiency of radiofrequency identification (RFID) networks. Among various energy-efficient approaches, clustering-based data filtering is considered to be the most effective solution because data from cluster members can be filtered at cluster heads before being sent to base stations. However, this approach quickly depletes the energy of cluster heads. Furthermore, most previous studies have assumed that readers are fixed and interrogate mobile tags in a workspace. However, there are several applications in which readers are mobile and interrogate fixed tags in a specific area. This article proposes a model for dynamic clustering-based data filtering (DCDF) in mobile RFID networks, where mobile readers are re-clustered periodically and the cluster head role is rotated among the members of each cluster. Simulation results show that DCDF is effective in terms of balancing energy consumption among readers and prolonging the lifetime of the mobile RFID networks.

Density-based outlier detection is one of the hot issues in data mining. A point is determined as outlier on basis of the density of points near them. The existing density-based detection algorithms have high time complexity, in order to reduce the time complexity, a new outlier detection algorithm DODMD (Density-based Outlier Detection in Multidimensional Datasets) is proposed. Firstly, on the basis of ZH-tree, the concept of micro-cluster is introduced. Each leaf node is regarded as a micro-cluster, and the micro-cluster is calculated to achieve the purpose of batch filtering. In order to obtain n sets of approximate outliers quickly, a greedy method is used to calculate the boundary of LOF and mark the minimum value as LOFmin. Secondly, the outliers can filtered out by LOFmin, the real outliers are calculated, and then the result set is updated to make the boundary closer. Finally, the accuracy and efficiency of DODMD algorithm are verified on real dataset and synthetic dataset respectively.
As one of the most important requirements for wireless sensor networks, prolonging network lifetime can be realized by minimizing energy consumption in cluster heads as well as sensor nodes. While most of the previous researches have focused on the energy of sensor nodes, we devote our attention to cluster heads because they are most dominant source of power consumption in the cluster-based sensor networks. Therefore, we seek to minimize energy consumption by minimizing the maximum(MINMAX) energy dissipation at each cluster heads. This work requires energy-efficient clustering of the sensor nodes while satisfying given energy constraints. In this paper, we present a constraint satisfaction modeling of cluster-based routing in a heterogeneous sensor networks because mixed integer programming cannot provide solutions to this MINMAX problem. Computational experiments show that substantial energy savings can be obtained with the MINMAX algorithm in comparison with a minimum total energy(MTE) strategy.
Initial cluster size for clustering of partitioning methods is very important to the clustering result. In K-means algorithm, the result of cluster analysis becomes different with optimal cluster size K. Usually, the initial cluster size is determined by prior and subjective information. Sometimes this may not be optimal. Now, more objective method is needed to solve this problem. In our research, we propose a hybrid genetic algorithm, a tree induction based evolution algorithm, for determination of optimal cluster size. Initial population of this algorithm is determined by the number of terminal nodes of tree induction. From the initial population based on decision tree, our optimal cluster size is generated. The fitness function of ours is defined an inverse of dissimilarity measure. And the bagging approach is used for saying computational time cost.
Aparallel computing environment was constructed based on Windows 2000 operating system. This cluster was configured using Fast-Ethernet system to hold up together the clients within a network domain. For the parallel computation, MPI implements for Windows such as MPICH.NT.1.2.2 and MP-MPICHNT.1.2 were used with Compaq Visual Fortran compiler which produce a well optimized executives for x86 systems. The evaluation of this cluster performance was carried out using a preconditioned Navier-Stokes code for the 2D analysis of a compressible and viscous flow around a compressor blade. The parallel performance was examined in comparison with those of Linux clusters studied previously by changing a number of processors, problem size and MPI libraries. The result from the test problems presents that parallel performance of the low cost Fast-Ethernet Windows cluster is superior to that of a Linux cluster of similar configuration and is comparable to that of a Myrinet cluster.
In this paper, we implemented a Wi-Fi based cluster system using raspberry pi for multidisciplinary education. The cluster implementation on the desktop was more difficult to maintain the complexity, big size, high price, power consumption as the number of nodes increased. In this paper, we implemented a cluster using Raspberry Pi, which is developed for educational purposes, to reduce the cost of connecting nodes. In addition, the complexity of system construction is reduced by replacing the connection between each node with Wi-Fi. Also, the inconvenience of configuration due to node increase was reduced. It is expected that the implementation of the cluster will be a good alternative in the educational environment where distributed processing and parallel processing are performed in the embedded environment. Also, it is confirmed that it can be applied to the multidisciplinary education.
