All this led to make the world a space of many beautiful constructive ventures. As per the requirements of today's world, every industry is recognizing the need for use and adoption of modern as well as innovative technologies due to their benefits and timely production. Now construction industry has also started adopting the use of modern and innovative technologies during their projects but still the rate of adoption is so slow. From design to completion, construction projects take a lot to manage for which technology based solutions have continuously been proposed. These include Computer Aided Design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM) and cloud computing have been proved to be much successful until now. The construction projects are high budgeted, and direly require timely and successful completion with quality, resource and other constraints. So, the researchers observe the need of more clear and technology based communication between the construction projects and its constructors and other stakeholders is required before and during the construction to take timely precautions for expected issues. This study has analyzed the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology adopting GammaAR, and ARki applications in construction industry. It has been found that both applications are light-weighted, upgradable, provide offline availability and collaborative environment as well as fulfil most of the requirements of the construction industry except the cost. These applications also support different screen size for better visualization and deep understanding. Both applications are analyzed, based on construction's application requirements, usability of AR and ratings of applications user collected from application's platform. The purpose of this research is to provide a detail insight of construction applications which are using AR to facilitate both the future developers and consumers.

  • While there is the active integration of various industries, a convergence of the software and knowledge service industries including software used in finance and counseling products is creating the necessity to include software industry utilization sectors aside from covering only software products and service production activities. Furthermore, to cope with the radical environment changes in the software industry when it comes to categorizing mobile and cloud computing areas into a software and classification system, we are at a point where there is a need to establish a directional nature on what should be included. In order to establish an integrated classification of newly introduced technologies, products and services, this paper aims to discover areas not included in the classification standard because of the ecological characteristics of the software. It also wants to differentiate the classification system and identify its incomplete areas such as the lack of connections within the system to ultimately establish such for newly surfacing software fields.

  • Big data management is becoming increasingly important in both industry and academia of information science community. One of the important categories of big data generated from software systems is log data. Log data is generally used for better services in various service providers and can also be used as information for qualification. This paper presents a big data management architecture specialized for log data. Specifically, it provides the aggregation of log messages sent from multiple clients and provides intelligent functionalities such as analyzing log data. The proposed architecture supports an asynchronous process in client-server architectures to prevent the potential bottleneck of accessing data. Accordingly, it does not affect the client performance although using remote data store. We implement the proposed architecture and show that it works well for processing big log data. All components are implemented based on open source software and the developed prototypes are now publicly available.

  • The primary objective of this research is to explain how to implement the Service Oriented Architecture (hereafter SOA) enabled Enterprise Resource Planning (hereafter ERP) system successfully for service industries. An implementation of the ERP system help many organizations to alleviate the difficult job of supporting inflexible or legacy systems that in most cases result in cost increases, data redundancy and inaccuracy, and various inefficiencies. However, the ERP system is losing its market share rapidly to the cloud computing system which utilizes the Software-as-a-service (hereafter SaaS) and SOA. The SOA is an approach to integrate various types of IT resources to leverage existing ERP system, while at the same time building an infrastructure that can readily respond to new business environment and offer new dynamic applications. The companies that implement this system have less of a need for the kinds of all-in-one ERP system that have dominated the back office for decades and can move freely to best-of-breed applications. This research will identify the benefits and costs of the SOA enabled ERP system through case studies and its impact on competitive priorities such as cost, quality, delivery, and flexibility.

  • The economics of big data knowledge, especially cloud computing and statistical data of consumer preferences, has attracted increasing academic and industry practitioners' attention. Firms nowadays require purchasing not only external private patent knowledge from other firms, but also proprietary big data knowledge to support their new product development. Extant research investigates pricing strategies of external private patent knowledge and proprietary big data knowledge separately. Yet, a comprehensive investigation of pricing strategies of these two types of knowledge is in pressing need. This research constructs an overarching pricing model of external private patent knowledge and proprietary big data knowledge through the lens of firm profitability as a knowledge transaction recipient. The proposed model can help those firms who purchase external knowledge choose the optimal knowledge structure and pricing strategies of two types of knowledge, and provide theoretical and methodological guidance for knowledge transaction recipient firms to negotiate with knowledge providers.
