The purposed of this study was to investigate the dimensions of clothing purchasing motives and to examine differences of these dimensions according to the demographic variables, and to examine the relationship between the clothing attitudes and clothing purchasing motives. The subjects selected for the final analysis were 595 adults rainging from 20's to 40's in age. As for the analytic method. Cronbach's $\alpha$, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, Tukey's multiple range test, frequency and percentage were applied. The conclusions of this study were as follows: 1. The clothing purchasing motive was classified into five dimensions: advertising and promotion, finding of clothing meeting one's own taste, extra income, practical purchasing needs and impulse purchase. And the dimensions of clothing purchasing motive were significantly different according to monthly expenditure on clothing, sex and educational level. 2. The relationship between the clothing attitudes dimensions and clothing purchasing motive dimensions were significant.
This research was intended to identify variables influencing on risk perception and risk reduction behavior in clothing purchase situations. Responses from 631 female adults living in Seoul area were collected and analyzed. Towner for social occasions or working in office was used as clothing stimulus. The analysis included three product variables(price, style, type of clothing), 4 personality variables(generalized self-confidence, specific self-confidence, generalized informativeness, fashion informativeness), 2 clothing attitude variables(clothing importance, clothing interest), 4 demographic variables(age, educational level, occupation, income), and 3 situational variables(purchase planning, time pressure, effects of shopping company). Multiple regression revealed the fact that each type of clothing risk and each type of risk reduction behavior was influenced by the set of different variables. Generalized self- confidence and age and time pressure had more effects on clothing risk perception, while clothing risk reduction behavior was more influenced by clothing risk type, clothing interest, price of clothing and fashion informativeness. Implications for marketing strategies planning were also provided.
The purposes of this study were 1) to reveal the consumer's brand loyalty on clothing, 2) to identify the relationships between the consumer's clothing brand loyalty and consumer characteristics, product characteristics, and consumer's clothing buying behavior. Subjects were selected from the employed and unemployed housewives living in Taejon. A questionnaire was developed and administered by 316 housewives during Spring in 1992. Data were analysed by frequency, Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression and oneway- ANOVA. The result.; of the study were as follows: 1) The half of subjects had brand loyalty on clothing. 2) The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and housewives' and her husbands 'educational level and average income of a month were significant. Consumer's clothing brand loyalty and housewives 'age had significantly negative relationship. 3) Consumer's clothing brand loyalty was significantly related to price of clothing. 4) The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and satisfaction toward brands, and the store patronage behavior were significant. The relationships between consumer's clothing brand loyalty and her prepurchase information search behavior, and the amount of purchasing of clothing were not significant.
The purpose on this study is to grasp the clothing habits and problems of the Chinese-Koreans in Yanbian, China through the fact-finding survey about the clothing habits for the Chinese-Koreans in Yanbian, China who have frequent exchanges with the North Korea and have relatively similar home culture preparing for the unification of North and South Korea, also it is to make the basic data for improving their qualities of life. As for the method of study, it centered on the investigation by the questionnaire on the spot and it referred to the data like domestic and abroad literature, field observation, interview and internet, etc. as a reference. Also it centered on the girl college students and the housewives in Yangil City as an object of research. Accordingly, the result of this study is as follows. The Yanbian is the largest Chinese-Koreans group of people in the China. The economic environment in Yanbian is in the middle of the whole China. With the open-economy of China and the contact with the foreign culture, especially with Korea, the 1960s and 1990s coexist in. The Chinese-Koreans in Yangil spend about 1,425 CNY as clothing expenses averages a year, and the estimated value of holding amount of clothing is about 27 suits. They recognize the clothing made in Korea as high-quality and high-price of high-quality articles. They have high interest in the Korean fashion as the younger generation. They prefer to modern, active, refined and mature atmosphere in the clothing atmosphere, but they still do not reach to the level yet in actual. They generally have strong tendency with the preference of black color or dark color because they have small holding amount. The field materials of fiber did not become high-quality articles because they hold in the level of 1960s in Korea. So, the color level of Chinese-Koreans in Yanbian is still low.
This study aimed to give an updated description of general clothing behavior patterns of the Korean elderly women. 430 women over 60 years old residing in Seoul wre surveyed with a questionnaire asking about their daily practices of clothing selection, disposal, recycling, quantity and place of purchase, and their background variables. Data were treated to SPSS for descriptive statistics, Chi-square analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The result revealed that the wardrobe of the Korean aged women is by now fully oriented toward the western style. The subjects disposed of their clothing mainly because of their body size changes and had elementary fitting problems unsolved. They had clothing recycling experinces and turned out to be inactive clothing consumers with differing shopping places according to the types of clothing items to be purchased. The subjects'age and income level had significant effects on various facets of their clothing behavior.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between fashion style adoption and consumers' demographic characteristics, selection criteria and use of fashion information sources respectively and find out how their concerned variables influenced high fashion style adoption. For this study, the questionnaire was administered to a sample of 554 female adults in Kwangju. frequency distribution, Mean, Pearson's Correlation, Analysis of variance and Path Analysis were used fer the statistical analysis. The results obtained were as followers. 1) Level of fashion style adoption showed a normal distribution like a wave. 2) Consumer's demographic characteristics variables, such as age, educational level and income significantly associated with fashion style adoption. Younger consumers adopted tile high fashion style 41)an more aged consumers. while consumers in higher educational and income level adopted high fashion style than consumers in lower. 3) Among individuality, conformity, practicality and economy in selection criterias, only individually and practicality associated with fastion style adoption in clothing purchase. In the case of the high fashion style adoption, purchasing with individuality was increased, while purchasing with practicality was decreased. 4) The use of marketer dominated sources in fashion information sources significantlyassociated with fashion style adoption. In the case of high fashion style adoption, the use of marketer dominated and neutral information sources was higher. 5) The use of marketer dominated information sources had a main effect on high fashion style adoption in clothing purchase. Especially in the group composed of college students and occupational women, individuality and praticality as selection criterias came to be important effects. While in the group composed of housewives and non-occupational single women, age, educational level and income came to be important effects.
The purposes of this study were to identify money altitudes of college students and to examine both socio-economic characteristics and clothing purchase behaviors by different money attitudes. For this study, guestionnaires completed by 2-year and 4-year college students (n=426) were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, X²- test, and ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows: First, the money attitudes were composed of five factors and they were categorized by three clusters: cluster of considering the money as a tool for future safety, a way of approval and filling up emotions, and inclination toward stinginess and distrust. Second, the factors which were associated with money attitudes were academic level, education level of parents, household income, students' own income, and the economic level of their households. Third, in each type of attitudes, the clothing purchase behavior had four steps of decision making: problem recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, and the purchase. There were significant differences in the clothing purchase behavior among the money attitude styles.
The purpose of this study is, to analyze the relationship between level of clothing involvement and use of information sources. Data was obtained from 130 middle-elderly women living in Chonju, Iri. And it was analyzed by frequency, percent, mean, ANOVA, $\chi$2-testk. The results of this study were as follows : 1) Groups were divided into high and low involvement according to involvement level. 2) The higher was clothing involvement, the lower was age, the higher was education, and the more was income. 3) The higher was clothing involvement, the higher was use df information sources. Groups used mostly information sources by personal media or observation, experience. 4) The high income group used impersonal information source, the low income group used mostly personal information source.
This study examines whether there are differences in the evaluation of clothing products according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. A total of 300 surveys were distributed and 231 were used for analysis. The data were analyzed by regression and factor analysis. The results are as follows. First, there were significant differences in the product attributes considered according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The consumers with high self-efficacy considered diverse product attributes comprehensively when making purchase decisions and had significantly higher score in perceived value and post-purchase satisfaction level than the consumers with low self-efficacy. Second, there were differences in the attributes of clothing products that effects perceived value according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The attributes of 'clothes that I like' and 'necessary clothes' had a significant effect on perceived value for both consumers. The attributes of 'design that suits me' and 'inexpensive price' had significant effect on perceived value on consumers with high self-efficacy while the attributes of 'harmony with other clothes' had a significant effect on perceived value for consumers with low self-efficacy. Third, there were differences in product attributes and the perceived value that influenced post-purchase satisfaction level according to self-efficacy in purchasing clothes. The attributes of 'design that suits me' and perceived value had a direct effect on the post-purchase satisfaction level four consumers with a high self-efficacy. For the consumers with low self- efficacy, the attributes of 'clothes I like', 'necessary clothes', and 'design similar to that of usually purchased products' had a direct effect on post-purchase satisfaction level; however, the effect of perceived value was not found.
The purpose of this study was to investigate body cathexis and clothing involvement by demographic characteristics and to indentify the relationship between body cathexis and clothing involvment. Five aspects of body cathexis(lower body, head/upper body, height, weight, torso) were assessed with 17 Likert type questionnaires adapted from the previous researches, and 24 items of clothing involvement were measured. The questionnaire was administered to 430 women in Taegu, Korea. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, ANOVA, Sceffe test, t-test, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The body cathexis showed head/upper body, height, torso, lower body, weight in order of satisfaction level. Especially lower body and weight part were shown as the most unsatisfactory body parts. Age of 20s' showed the lowest body cathexis, and those who had the higher educational background and family income were more satisfied with their bodies. 2. Five dimensions of clothing involvement were derived by factor analysis such as fashion, interest, pleasure, symbolism, and perceived buying risk. 3. There were significant relationships between clothing involvement dimensions and demographic characteristics such as age, educational background and family income level. Those who were younger showed positive relationship partially among fashion, interest and pleasure of clothing dimensions but showed negative relationship in total clothing involvement. Those who had higher educational background and family income showed positive clothing involvement than married women and empolyed showed higher clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement. 4. There were significant relationships between body cathexis and interest, perceived buying risk of clothing involvement partially. However, the correlation between body cathexis and total clothing involvement was relatively low.
