Background: Bronchiectasis is a irreversible disease, a lot of cases of which are associated with chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema and bronchial asthma due to chronic recurrent pulmonary infection. Therefore, pulmonary functions in bronchiectasis may also vary with associated diseases or involved segments. Methods: For the evaluation of ventilatory dynamics in bronchiectasis with respect to the pathoanatomic types of bronchiectasis and the degree of dyspnea, a total of 93 cases comprising 45 cases of tubular, 30 saccular and 18 mixed type of bronchiectasis whose clinical diagnosis was confirmed by bronchography were analyzed retrospectively. They were also divided into two groups: those with Hugh-Jones dyspnea grade 1 & 2 (group I) and those with Hugh-Jones dyspnea grade 3 & 4 (group II). Pulmonary functions tested in this study were analyses of curves of forced expiratory volume and flow-volume, and determinations of maximal voluntary ventilation and closing volumes. Results: The results were as follows; 1) The vital capacity and parameters reflecting expiratory flow rate except PEF were significantly reduced in saccular and mixed type than that in tubular type of bronchiectasis. 2) In saccular and mixed type, the maximal voluntary ventilation tended to decrease while CV/VC tended to increase. 3) As the degree of dyspnea became serious, the involved segments were progressively increased. In contrast, ventilatory functions were significantly reduced in proportion to the severity of dyspnea. Conclusion: These findings suggest that in bronchiectasis, there be obstructive ventilatory impairment combined with mild restrictive ventilatory impairment, which becomes more prominent in saccular and mixed type and also as the degree of dyspnea progresses.
This paper empirically examines whether ownership disperses when a venture firm its IPO (initial public offerings). The data for this study were collected from 91 firms that were initially listed on KOSDAQ between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2007. We explored the influence of the underpricing of IPO on the change of large shareholders. The first finding of this investigation is that the number of shareholders of the venture firms who underpriced IPOs still increased after the closing of lockup. This is consistent with the findings of Booth and Chua(1996) and Brennan and Franks(1997). Second, the share of the large stockholders of the venture firms that a venture capital company invested decreased significantly after the end of lockup. Third, the venture businesses with higher ratio of flotation showed a significant decreasing of shareholders after the closing of lockup.

Recently, the range of meridian muscle has expanded to muscular membranes, tendons and sinews as well as muscles, comprehending the modern manual therapy and its theories. So, in this study, the movement of body is explained through the assignment of meridian muscles into 3 Yins and 3 Yangs, and the modern manual therapy is understood with body's movement principles rather than with simple muscular movements. For this, the ground that the meridian muscles can expand to muscular membranes, tendons and sinews is researched in newest papers and studies rather than in the conventional studies that have analyzed the meridian muscles just in anatomic viewpoints. And, to find out how it can be applied to the actual clinic, its relationship with modern manual therapies such as Positional Release Therapy and Muscle Energy Techniques which are in the spotlight lately is also researched, getting the following results: Modern manual therapy is to keep the mutual balance of Yin-Yang meridian muscles after all and secure the stability of body to relieve the pains due to the stagnation of energy and blood. In the main body, they can be allotted into the opening of Great Yang/Great Yin, the closing of Bright Yang(陽明)/Small Yin, and the pivoting of Small Yang/Growing Yin (厥陰). The bending and stretching of meridian muscles as well as the movement of body can be explained according to the principle of opening, closing and pivoting. When the body is divided into 3 Yins and 3 Yangs, the viewpoint of Yin-Yang-Inside-Outside can be applied to the protagonist and antagonist muscles, giving a theoretic basis to the modern manual therapy. In the process to understand Positional Release Therapy and Muscle Energy Techniques in the viewpoint of Meridian Muscle, it turned out that the meridian muscle theory of Oriental Medicine which used to be known only in documents can well explain the movement mechanism of human body. The stress reaction through the reciprocal inhibition in Positional Release Therapy and Muscle Energy Techniques can also be understood with Yin-Yang-Inside-Outside.
This study aims to examine the mediating effects of paternal depression on the relationship between traditional gender role attitudes and the perceived maternal gatekeeping roles of fathers with young children. For this purpose, a survey was conducted by 366 married fathers who raises at least one child who is under seven years old. Mplus 7.0 was used to analyze the structural equation model, and the result showed that higher traditional gender role attitudes relate to more depressive symptoms, higher perceptions of maternal gate closing and lower perceptions of maternal gate opening. Also, more depressive symptoms were related to higher perceptions of maternal gate closing and lower perceptions of maternal gate opening. Additionally, the partial mediation effects of depression were observed in the relationship between traditional gender role attitudes and maternal gate keeping. Based on the findings, implications for therapeutic interventions were discussed, and recommendations for future research are presented.

The purpose of this study was to compare the values of tongue pressure (TP), lip closing pressure (LCP), right buccal pressure (RBP), and left buccal pressure (LBP) and check the intraoral muscle imbalance and observe the changed values according to the myofunctional therapy (MFT) period. The MFT with a prefabricated appliance was performed on patients with certain muscular dysfunctions due to oral habits. And the improvement of perioral muscles was evaluated using a balloon-based pressure measurement. The group consisted of 21 patients with oral habits such as chronic mouth breathing, finger sucking, lip sucking, tongue thrusting, and atypical swallowing habits. When comparing the two groups before treatment, there was a significant difference in TP and LCP values. The TP increased the most in the first month since the start of myofunctional therapy, and the LCP increased the most between 3 and 6 months after treatment began. The values of TP, LCP, RBP, and LBP in the control group measured before treatment were very similar to the results of the experimental group 6 months after the myofunctional therapy. When the MFT was steadily performed, it was possible to observe a noticeable increase in the tongue and lip closing pressure. At least 6 months of myofunctional therapy is recommended for patients with intraoral muscle imbalance due to oral habits.
We investigated the possibility of a bio-monitoring system for detecting hypoxic water in coastal area using shell valve movements of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas), which showed most aquaculture production in Korea, with Hall element sensor. In filtrating water to confirm shell valve movement (SVM) under normal condition, it showed spikes which mean a relatively fast closing condition after opened condition of average 5~12 mm, and then the SVM showed back to opening condition slower than closing speed SVM numbers during light period were similar to that of dark period (p<0.05). When dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration was reduced from 7 mg l-1 to 3 mg l-1, SVM numbers were increasing with decreasing of DO, and showed abnormality SVMs as compare with normal condition. Moreover, in the condition of 2 mg l-1, Distance between light and left shell showed gradually decreased, and then we could not detected SVMs due to closed condition. Thus, if we quickly detect abnormal environmental variations as hypoxia water using bio-monitoring of SVM, it may be contribute to increased productivity by dramatically reducing damages in aquaculture.

We proposed the infinity control principle to evaluate the Biological function. The H infinity control was applied to the Sodium (Na) ion selective gating channel on the excitable cellular membrane of the neural system. The channel opening, closing and inactivation processes were expressed by movements of three gates and one inactivation blocking particle in the channel pore. The rate constants of the channel state transition were set to be voltage dependent. The temporal changes in amounts per unit membrane area of the channel states were expressed by means of eight differential equations. The biochemical mimetic used to complete the Na ion selective channel was regarded as noise. The control inputs for ejecting the blocking particle with plugging in the channel pore were set for the active transition from inactivated states to a closed or open state. By applying the H infinity control, we computed temporal changes in the channel states, observers, control inputs and the worst case noises. The present paper will be available for evaluating the noise filtering function of the biological signal transmission system.

Valve train is one of the important noise sources in idling engines. Valve train noise comes mostly from two different impacts. One is the impact between cam and tappet at the beginning of the valve open period, which is an important source of impulsive noise of valve trains. The other is the impact between valve and valve seat at the closing of the valve open period. In case of mechanical lash adjusters, it is very difficult to control the initial impact. In this paper, we designed various types of cam profiles, especially in the opening ramp design, and investigated the effect of cam profiles on the magnitude of the initial impact. The effects that some cam design parameters have on the impulsive noise are also observed.

Proper door effort is required for the safety of passenger and pedestrian while securing door operating convenience. 3D finite element analyses for a hybrid door checker were carried out to estimate door checker arm resistance force. And, from the estimated door checker arm resistance force and theoretically calculated self-closing force, door effort was predicted. The analysis results at checker arm peaks showed excellent correlation with the test results. Also, in order to reduce solving time, a modified model with simple spring element was investigated. Finally an equation to easily calculate checker arm resistance force from checker arm shape and spring constant was suggested and its usefulness in early design stage was discussed.

The Flow fields of a ship's propulsion mechanism of Weis-Fogh type were investigated by the PIV. Velocity vectors and velocity profiles around the operating and stationary wings were observed at opening angles of ${\alpha}=15^{\circ} and $30^{\circ}$, velocity ratios of V/U=$0.5{\sim}1.5$ and Reynolds number of Re=$0.52{\times}10^4{\sim}1.0{\times}10^4$. As the results the fluid between wing and wall was inhaled in the opening stage and was jet in the closing stage. The wing in the translating stage accelerated the fluid in the channel. And the flow fields of this propulsion mechanism were unsteady and complex, but those were clarified by flow visualization using the PIV.
