Blow-off and Combustion Characteristics of a Lifted Coaxial Diffusion Flame (동축 확산 부상화염의 Blow-off와 연소 특성)

  • An experiment was performed to investigate lift-off, blow-off and combustion characteristics of a lifted coaxial diffusion flame according to fuel jet and air velocity. A jet diffusion flame which is attached on the nozzle rim begins to be lifted with increase of air velocity, and finally becomes blow-off at higher air velocity. In experiment, blow-off limit increased with increase of fuel jet velocity, however lift-off occurred at lower air velocity. Flame structure and combustion characteristics were examined by schlieren photos, temperature distributions and emission concentration distributions. Flame temperature became higher at midstream and its RMS became larger at up and downstream with increase of air velocity. Local NO concentration decreased but $CO_2$concentration increased with increase of air velocity, which shows combustion reaction becomes close to be stoichiometric at higher air velocity in spite of lift-off.

  • The ac loss in Bi-2223 tapes has been studied by a magnetic method. A brief overview of the theoretical background and the experimental set-up is presented. Measurements are made at 77 K in a magnetic fields. The magnitude of the ac loss indicates that filaments are fully coupled, which agrees with theory. As in other measurements, the loss in perpendicular field is larger than that in the parallel field by about a factor 10, which is close to the aspect ratio of the tape.

Modeling of Absorption/Desorption of Fuel in Oil film on the Cylinder Liner in SI Engines (오일유막의 연료 흡수 및 방출에 관한 연구)

  • An oil layer fuel absorption /desorption modeling was developed. Multi-component fuel model has showed more reasonable condition than single component model. Henry's constant which is related to solubility is the most important variable in the oil layer absorption/desorption mechanism. The oil segments close to the top of the cylinder liner have more significant contribution to the fuel absorption and desorption process than other oil segments. At the warmed-up condition, the effect of the engine speed on the precent fuel absorbed/desorbed is minimal. But at low il film temperature, percent of fuel abosrbed/desorbed is decreased with increasing the engine speed because of low value of molecular diffusion coefficient of fuel. The amount of fuel trapped in the piston crevice is from 2 to 2.3 times larger than that of fuel in the oil fim. However, fuel form oil film slowly desorbs into the combustion chamber compared with fuel from the piston crevices when the engines is cold.

  • For the selection of attraction industry of foreign investment in the free trade zone of Gwang Yang Bay, an overall consideration should be made considering aspects such as the industry development strategy of Gwang Yang Bay and the regional industry development strategy of the local government. For Gwang Yang Bay to grown into the E-Hub Port of Northeast Asia, the development of the back zone of should be accelerated. There is a need to offer custom made incentives for the core businesses. Packaging is a field of combined science and a future industry. Packaging industry, which has close association with regional industry and regional college's research human resources, should be combined with design and set up a packaging industry complex.

  • Space Vector control of linear induction motor without speed sensor is one of the most up-to-date researching subjects to the engineers in the fields of power electronics and control theory. A conveyance SLIM (Single-sided Linear Induction Motor) has required a stable speed and a soft start/stop when the goods convey. So, the close loop control method to use a speed sensor have been adopted and as the speed sensor, a linear encorder has been used. But when the speed sensor used, the application boundary is limited and the confidence of system is diminished because it is sensitive to external environment variations and its cost is very expensive. So, to solve these problems, this paper deals with speed control of the conveyance SLIM using space vector without speed sensorless.

  • A new low conduction loss, low cost zero-voltage-transition power factor correction circuit(PFC) is presented. Conventional PFC which consists of a bridge diode and a boost converter(one switch) always has three semiconductor conduction drops. Two switch type PFCs reduces conduction loss by reducing one conduction drop but the cost is increased because of increased number of active switches. The proposed PFC reduces conduction loss with one switch, which allows low cost. Conduction loss improvement is a little bit less than that of two switch type, but very close up. Operation and features are comparatively illustrated and verified by simulation and experimental results of 1 kW laboratory prototype.

  • This paper deals with problem of determining process target value under automated visual inspection(AVI) system. Three independent error sources - digitizing error, illumination error, and positional error - which have a close relationship with the performance of the AVI system, are considered. Assuming that digitizing error is uniformly or normally distributed and illumination and positional errors are normally distributed, respectively, the distribution function for the error of measured lengths is derived when the length of a product is measured by the AVI system. Then, Optimal target values under two error models of AVI system are obtained by minimizing the total expected cost function which consists of give away, rework and penalty cost. To validate two process setting models, AVI system for drinks filling process is made up and test results are discussed.

  • Changes in water potential, lethal temperature and carbohydrate content in the leaves of wintergreen (Pyrola japonica) during overwintering were investigated. Leaf water potential was kept at -2 bars in the tender stage before October, decreased to -46 bars in the dormancy stage and increased to -2 bars again after dehardening Lethal temperatures of the leaf tissue were $-7^{\circ}C$ in the tender stage and $-7^{\circ}C$ in the dormancy stage, but did not recover up to that of the tender stage during dehardeding. Peak of soluble sugar content coincided with the nadir of the leaf water potential. There were close relationships among daily minimum air-temperature, leaf water potential and lethal temperature in changing patterns during overwintering.

  • Supernova remnants (SNRs) are one of the most energetic astrophysical events and are thought to be the dominant source of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs). A recent report on observations of gamma rays from the vicinity of SNRs have shown strong evidence that Galactic CR protons are accelerated by the shock waves of the SNRs. The actual gamma-ray emission from pion decay should depend on the diffusion of CRs in the interstellar medium. In order to quantitatively analyze the diffusion of high-energy CRs from acceleration sites, we have performed test particle numerical simulations of CR protons using a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation of an interstellar medium swept-up by a blast wave. We analyse the CRs diffusion at a length scale of order a few pc, and show the Richtmeyer-Meshkov instability can provide enough turbulence downstream of the shock to make the diffusion coefficient close to the Bohm level for energy larger than 30 TeV for a realistic interstellar medium.

  • The supply chain in plant construction project can be defined as a network combined between elements which is engineering, procurement, construction, start-up. For successfully leading construction project, close relation and mutual cooperation should be preceded and Supply Chain Management(SCM) system is needed to improve the relation. In particular, because safety is a top priority for the companies work in the construction of Nuclear Power Plant(NPP), it is necessary to control all parties realated with NPP construction systematically. In this situation, it is important to purchase high-quality equipment in timely manner by developing Integrated cooperative systems. Therefore, this study aimed to propose developing solutions of SCM such as JIT and Envelop Design system, which can reduces difficulties of decision making between the parties involved in the project and will increase the efficiency of the engineering process in NPP.
