In order to development of new denture cleaners using natural antimicrobial agents, we have investigated various species of medicinal plants for the antimicrobial activity against Streptococcus matans and Candida albicans. Citrus extract showed significant antifungal activities in a dose-dependent manner against Candida albicans. Candidasis is also a common problem affecting older adults using full denture. We also developed liquid type denture cleaner formulation using citrus extracts.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the particle removal characteristics of a commercial air cleaner based on the electrostatic precipitator. The air cleaner consists of a positive corona precharger to precharge particles and a collector to remove the charged particles. The test for particle removal efficiency is conducted with tobacco smoke particles of 1.27${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in mass median diameter. The result of one-pass filtration test shows that the filtration efficiency is more than 90% for the particles larger than 2.5 Um, while the efficiency for the particles of 0.5~1.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in case of 4.18 CMM is 70%. For the test room of 5,800${\times}$3,400${\times}$2,600㎣, the concentration of tobacco smoke particles decreases up to 30% of initial values within 30 minutes due to natural reduction and up to 90% of initial values within 30 minutes with the air cleaner operation.

The air filter in engine intake system has a function of filtrating the dirt in the scavenging air as well as attenuating the noise. The noise attenuation within the air cleaner filter, however, has been regarded as negligible by the field engineers. In this paper, for the analysis of the acoustical performance of air filter, an acoustical model was suggested and the characteristics of air filter system were investigated. Fibrous structure of the filter element was modeled as a micro-perforated panel using the flow resistivity and porosity. The pleated geometry of the filter element was modeled as two coupled ducts that have permeable walls, in which each duct area was assumed being constant. Using such simplified geometry, a mathematical model was developed for the sound propagation within a narrow duct system. Visco-thermal effect was considered in modeling the sound propagation through such tubes; the filter box was modeled as a rigid rectangular box. By combining two models, a four-pole transfer matrix was derived. For the validation purpose, transmission loss was measured for a plastic rectangular box containing an air filter. A noticeable effect of the air filter element was observed by including the filter into the box. Comparing the predicted and measured data, we found that the predicted TL agrees well with experimental results, in particular, in magnitude and frequency at TL troughs.
A new method to calculate the aeroacoustic pressure of a centrifugal fan that is used in a vacuum cleaner has been developed. The centrifugal fan consists of the impeller, the diffuser, and the circular casing. Due to the high rotating speed of the impeller and the small gap distance between the impeller and diffuser, the centrifugal fan makes very high noise levels at BPF and its harmonic frequencies. In order to calculate the sound pressure of a centrifugal fan, the unsteady flow field data is needed. This unsteady flow field is calculated by the vortex method. The sound pressure is then calculated by acoustic analogy. In this paper, only dipole term is considered in the equation. The noise generated by moving impeller and stationary diffuser is calculated separately. The predicted acoustic pressures agree very well with the measured data. The difference between the two is less than 4dB
Ever since the concept of clean production technology was introduced to the Korea industry communities, 16 years has passed, but there is still some confusion regarding to the definition and the meaning. It ascribes that SMEs do not widely accepted the concept and therefore the dissemination is still not widen. This study has explored the definition and the categories of clean production technologies as well as compared the relationship between the environment technology and green technology. In addition, as a policy plan to disseminate cleaner production technologies to small and medium enterprises, several policies are suggested hoe to improve and expand eco- innovation projects that are currently supported by the government.

This paper discusses the design and control of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive system for a built-in car vacuum cleaner. The growing popularity of outdoor activities and recreation has led the automobile industry to expand technologies that increase the convenience of vehicles, and thus, a built-in car vacuum cleaner was introduced. However, the existing DC motor of a vacuum cleaning system has several disadvantages, such as maintenance cost and lifespan issues of its commutator-brush structure. An SRM can be a good alternative to the existing DC motor because of its high-speed capability, long lifespan, low maintenance cost, and high efficiency, among other advantages. A prototype SRM drive is designed and manufactured to verify its feasibility for use in a built-in car vacuum cleaning system. Dynamic simulation is conducted to determine the optimal switching angle for maximum efficiency and minimum torque ripple. Load test, noise measurement, and suction-power tests are also carried out.

As the spread of COVID-19 continues, cleanliness and quarantine are emphasized in daily life. If foreign substances enter through the shoe sole when using public facilities, cleanliness may deteriorate and various infections may occur. To prevent this, shoe sole cleaners that filter out foreign substances have been developed. In this study, a design that satisfies structural safety was presented by selecting a new material and updating the design parameter to reduce the weight of the shoe sole cleaner. To evaluate the structural safety, a finite element analysis under selected design loads was performed. Through design improvement and stress analysis, a model that was approximately 85% lighter than the existing model was developed.
Purpose: The cleaning effect of protein deposit and the change of contact lens parameters by ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses on the soft contact lenses were investigated. Methods: Etafilcon A contact lenses contaminated with protein, was ultrasonicated by ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses and for the control group, spoiled contact lenses were cleaned by multi-purpose solution. The remaining protein deposits on the contact lenses were determined after extraction and the changes of overall diameter, base curve, center thickness power, and water contents on contact lenses were measured and surfaces of contact lenses were observed by scanning electron microscope. Results: The cleaning efficacies of multi-purpose solution on protein deposited etafilcon A contact lenses were 6.08%, and 23.73~33.92% in the group of ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses with multi-purpose solution and 0~12.99% in the group of ultrasonic clear for contact lens with multipurpose solution depending on the treatment time. The changes of parameters and surface on contact lenses by ultrasonication were not observed. Conclusions: Ultrasonic cleaner for eye glasses can be used to eliminate protein deposits for the diagnostic soft contact lens in the office since it was effective to eliminate protein deposits and not caused change of parameters on soft contact lenses.

We investigated the question whether protein removing activities of enzyme cleaner - protein remover for soft contact lens - are associated with the material of soft contact lens as well as action time, temperature and pH of enzyme solution. We used a subtilisin cleaner as protein remover and estimated the protein amount remained on soft contact lens after using the subtilisin cleaner under the different conditions. The remained protein in soft contact lens was greatly decreased until treatment for 60min, but no significant differences were found from 60min to 24hr. The cleaning effect of the enzymatic treatment in the range of $15{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ was constant. however, there was a significant decline of the protein removing effect at $10^{\circ}C$ and less. The pH of the solution was also important for the efficacy of the enzymatic treatment. The activity of the enzyme cleaner was highest in pH 8.0 and significantly decreased a pH below 7. The pH dependence was found to be related to the conformational change of subtilisin. Furthermore, significant differences in the protein deposit removing efficacy of the subtilisin cleaner were found among the soft contact lens materials.
Purpose: An in vitro study was conducted to compare the lipid cleaning efficacy of care solutions on balafilcon A silicone hydrogel (SiHy) lens. Methods: Lipid spoilation was performed by incubating balafilcon A SiHy lenses in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing oleic acid, oleic acid methyl ester and cholesterol. Spoiled contact lenses rinsed with PBS were cleaned with surfactant cleaner, alcohol containing cleaner and multipurpose solution (MPS) respectively and repetitive spoilation and cleaning was conducted up to 14 times. To observe the cleaning effect of ultrasonic wave on the lipid deposit, each spoiled lens was ultrasonicated and then compared with non-sonicated lens. Lipids deposit on the contact lenses was extracted by methanol:chloroform (1:1, v/v) solution. High performance liquid chromatography was used to analyze and quantify lipid deposit extracts. Results: The effectiveness of alcohol containing surfactant cleaner on the lipid deposits was better than that of surfactant cleaner and MPS, and the cleaning efficacy was significantly higher in the ultrasonic wave treated group. Lipid deposits were not removed completely by contact lens care solutions so that lipid deposits increased continuously and cumulatively. Conclusions: The cleaning efficacy of contact lens care solutions was not satisfactory to remove lipid deposits on the SiHy lens that new cleaning products specially designed for SiHy lenses are needed to develop.
