  • $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ (CZTSe) thin films were synthesized on transparent conducting oxide glass substrates via a simple, non-toxic, and low-cost process using a precursor solution paste. A three-step heating process (oxidation, sulfurization, and selenization) was employed to synthesize a CZTSe thin film as an absorber layer for use in thin-film solar cells. In particular, we focused on the effects of sulfurization conditions on CZTSe film formation. We found that sulfurization at $400^{\circ}C$ involves the formation of secondary phases such as $CuSe_2$ and $Cu_2SnSe_3$, but they gradually disappeared when the temperature was increased. The formed CZTSe thin films showed homogenous and good crystallinity with grain sizes of approximately 600 nm. A solar cell device was tentatively fabricated and showed a power conversion efficiency of 2.2% on an active area of 0.44 $cm^2$ with an open circuit voltage of 365 mV, a short current density of 20.6 $mA/cm^2$, and a fill factor of 28.7%.

  • For a development of non-contact magnet gear which is magnetized as a helical shape, a method of 3-dimensional FEM analysis is used. An elementary technique required for magnetic property analysis and parts design about magnet gear is ensured. In order to test a performance of clean conveyor and turning device which is composed with magnet gear, a clean class 10 environment booth is used for a trial test. It is verified that the magnet conveyor can be acceptable under a condition of clean class 10 by a result of trial test about transfer speed, maximum torque permission, cleanness, maximum transfer weight, existence of hunting and degree of noise.

  • In this study, a quantitative environmental impact assessment for the production process of breathable film was conducted employing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. Among the various categories, Global Warming (GW) accounted for the highest impact (97%) followed by Human Toxicity (HT). And the key substances of various impact categories included HDPE, PP, and electricity. In the production process, the high impact resulted from mixing process (57%), lamination process (29%), and extruder process (10%). To improve environmental impact, it is necessary to design a new process system that reduces the amount of electricity used and that increases production yields, if raw materials such as HDPE and PP owe excluded.

  • Demand of the clean and convenient natural gas has continuously increased with recognizing of the environment problem since liquefied natural gas was introduced in Korea. Clean fuel natural gas was supplied to each city through high tensile strength pipeline connected by welding. Grades of pipeline were divided into the high and middle pressure according to supply pressure. Pipeline was welded mainly SMA welding process due to its easy handling, the other welding process was adopted according to the constructing condition. We were examined on the microstructure variation and mechanical properties of weld metal for high pressure pipeline, API 5L X-42.

It is important that to discharge chemical with fit concentration and temperature using chemical supply system for clean process. The chemical supply system which is used currently is not only difficult to make a fit mixing rate of chemical which is need in clean' process, but also difficult to make fit concentration and temperature. Moreover, it has high stability but it is inefficient spatially because its volume is great. • Lead molybdate ($PbMoO_4$) were successfully synthesized using a facile surfactant-assisted hydrothermal process and characterized by XRD, Raman, PL, BET and DRS. We also investigated the photocatalytic activity of these materials for the decomposition of Rhodamine B under UV-light irradiation. From XRD and Raman results, well-crystallized $PbMoO_4$ crystals have been successfully synthesized with a facile surfactant-assisted hydrothermal process and had 52-69 nm particle size. The $PbMoO_4$ catalysts prepared at $160^{\circ}C$ showed the highest photocatalytic activity. The PL peak was appeared at about 540 nm at all catalysts and it was also shown that the excitonic PL signal was proportional to the photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of Rhodamine B.

  • In the present study, modelling and optimization of ethanol-n-heptane separation process were performed using pressure-swing distillation. The pressure-swing distillation process optimization was performed to obtain high purity ethanol and high purity n-heptane into a low-high pressure columns configuration and a high-low pressure columns configuration. The results of pressure-swing distillation process simulation and optimization using high-low pressure column configuration showed a reduced total reboiler heat duty at 5.8% which confirmed a more economical energy consumption.

  • Many researchers have studied that many processes to effectively remove heavy metals in water/wastewater. Especially, among many processes, physical and chemical processes are relatively simple and obtain high treatment efficiency for removal heavy metals compared with biological treatment. Recently, interests in physical and chemical methods are sharply increasing again because of dangerousness for radioactive element. In this study, various physical and chemical processes such as chemical precipitation, ion-exchange, electrodialysis, and membrane separation are introduced.

  • As an attempt to replacing petroleum-based chemicals with bio-based ones, synthesis of furfural from biomass-derived xylose attracts much attention in recent days. Conventionally, furfural from xylose has been produced via the utilization of highly corrosive, toxic, and environmentally unfriendly mineral acids such as sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. In this study, microwave-assisted biphasic reaction process in the presence of novel bio-based heterogeneous acid catalysts was developed for the eco-benign and effective synthesis of furfural from xylose. The microwave was irradiated for reaction acceleration and a biphasic system consisting of $H_2O$ : MIBK (1 : 2) was designed for continuous extraction of furfural into the organic phase in order to reduce the undesired side products formed by decomposition/condensation/oligomerization in the acidic aqueous phase. Moreover, sulfonated amorphous carbonaceous materials were prepared from wood powder, the most abundant lignocellulosic biomass. The prepared catalysts were characterized by FT-IR, XPS, BET, elemental analysis and they were used as bio-based heterogeneous acid catalysts for the dehydration of xylose into furfural more effectively. For further optimization, the effect of temperature, reaction time, water/organic solvent ratio, and substrate/catalyst ratio on the xylose conversion and furfural yield were investigated and 100% conversion of xylose and 74% yield of furfural was achieved within 5 h at $180^{\circ}C$. The bio-based heterogeneous acid catalysts could be used three times without any significant loss of activity. This greener protocol provides highly selective conversion of xylose to furfural as well as facile isolation of product and bio-based heterogeneous acid catalysts can alternate the environmentally-burdened mineral acids.
