  • This paper proposes a Convolutional Recurrent Neural Net (CRNN) structure that can simultaneously reflect both static and dynamic characteristics of seismic waveforms for various earthquake events classification. Addressing various earthquake events, including not only micro-earthquakes and artificial-earthquakes but also macro-earthquakes, requires both effective feature extraction and a classifier that can discriminate seismic waveform under noisy environment. First, we extract the static characteristics of seismic waveform through an attention-based convolution layer. Then, the extracted feature-map is sequentially injected as input to a multi-input single-output Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network structure to extract the dynamic characteristic for various seismic event classifications. Subsequently, we perform earthquake events classification through two fully connected layers and softmax function. Representative experimental results using domestic and foreign earthquake database show that the proposed model provides an effective structure for various earthquake events classification.

  • As technology is developed, the quantity of new vocabularies is increasing more rapidly. So many vocabularies of technology have various meanings for each part and are used diversely according to circumstances. Therefore, the necessity of reasonable methods of standardization and purification is increasing and it is necessary to establish a classification system of terminology for the first phase of the standardization. Firstly, based on classification systems of power and IT standard dictionaries, scientific and technological standard, SPARK, power IT fields of IEC and organization units of corporations, we propose a new classification system for the standardization of power IT terminologies. The classification system consists of a hierarchical structure with general classification, application fields and specific technologies while keeping the conventional matrix-type classification system. And interpretation methods of power IT terminologies, which are classified according to the new classification system for the standardization of power IT terminologies, is proposed. The interpretation works of the power IT terminologies confirm that the classification system is systematic and the interpretation process is efficient.

  • RI-Biomics is a new concept that combines radioisotopes (RI) and Biomics. For efficient collection of information, establishment of database for technical information system and its application to the system, there is an increasing need for constructing the standard classification system of technical information by its systematical classification. In this paper, we have summarized the development process of the standard classification system of technical information in the field of RI-Biomics and its application to the system. Constructing the draft version for the standard classification system of technical information was based on that standard classification one in national science and technology in Korea. The final classification system was then derived through the reconstruction and the feedback process based on the consultation from the 7 experts. These results were applied to the database of technical information system after transforming as standard code. Thus, the standard classification system were composed of 5 large classifications and 20 small classifications, and those classification are expected to establish the foundation of information system by achieving the circular structure of collection-analysis-application of information.

  • Plant, civil engineering and construction equipment data of overseas construction are obtained and then analyzed, classified and integrated by experts. With those refined data set, we built classification system and defined property information with reference to international standard (ISO 15926, IRDL). If class in ISO 15926 is predefined for equipment of interest, we used the class as is. If not, we created and defined new classes on the basis of ISO 15926 classes. If there is similar class for equipment of interest, extension or inheritance methods were used. As a result, classification system of five levels and 637 classes were built and construction equipment information were expressed in open structure of XML such as tree structure of classification system and detailed information with number equipments for each specific equipment. We also developed the electronic catalog system which is basically equipment information management system providing various product search functions.

  • This paper presents the automatic music emotion classification on acoustic data. A three-level structure is developed. The low-level extracts the timbre and rhythm features. The middle-level estimates the indication functions that represent the emotion probability of a single analysis unit. The high-level predicts the emotion result based on the indication function values. Experiments are carried out on 695 homogeneous music pieces labeled with four emotions, including pleasant, calm, sad, and excited. Three machine learning methods, GMM, MLP, and SVM, are compared on the high-level. The best result of 90.16% is obtained by MLP method.

  • There is increasing importance of a system to reorganize explosive expansion of internet information resources efficiently; therefore, an increasing concern about classification system as an instrument for facilitating an access to a specific subject and improving efficiency in information retrieval. Comparing the hierarchical structure and access methodology of internet-based classification system with those of library classification such as Dewey Decimal Classification through their structural aspects and retrival process, this paper proposes the proper classification system in internet environment.

  • There are various ways in classification methodologies of data mining such as neural networks but the result should be explicit and understandable and the classification rules be short and clear. Rough set theory is a effective technique in extracting knowledge from incomplete and inconsistent information and makes an offer classification and approximation by various attributes with effect. This paper discusses granularity of knowledge for reasoning of uncertain concepts by using generalized rough set approximations based on hierarchical granulation structure and uses hierarchical classification methodology that is more effective technique for classification by applying core to upper level. The consistency rules with minimal attributes is discovered and applied to classifying real data.

  • With the increasing proliferation of World Wide Web, electronic mail systems have become very widely used communication tools. Researches on e-mail classification have been very important in that e-mail classification system is a major engine for e-mail response management systems which mine unstructured e-mail messages and automatically categorize them. in this research we develop e-mail classifiers for e-mail Response Management Systems (ERMS) using naive bayesian learning and centroid-based classification. We analyze which method performs better under which conditions, comparing classification accuracies which may depend on the structure, the size of training data set and number of classes, using the different data set of an on-line shopping mall and a credit card company. The developed e-mail classifiers have been successfully implemented in practice. The experimental results show that naive bayesian learning performs better, while centroid-based classification is more robust in terms of classification accuracy.

  • The Harmonized System comprises about 5,000 commodity groups; each identified by a six digit code, arranged in a legal and logical structure and is supported by well-defined rules to achieve uniform classification. This study reviews the appropriateness of Korea Customs Service and Tax Tribunal's customs classification decisions concerning the interpretation and application of the Harmonized System for certain ITA goods. Korea Customs Service had classified arbitrary and had not applied in dubio pro reo principle. This paper finds that 57% of Korea Customs Service's classification decisions have erred. Korea government need to take measures to secure uniform interpretation of the HS and its periodic updating in light of developments in technology and changes in trade patterns. This paper suggest to amend customs law and regulation concerning classification committee.
