The main purpose of this study was to develop a new method for evaluation of stream naturalness in order to appraise and prescribe for streams effectively in the process of ecological restoration of stream corridors. The results are as follows : 1) For this purpose six factors were selected on considering the spatial axes of stream corridor variation and total 20 descriptors about the physical structure were selected. 2) The calculation of S.N.I. for each segment was consisted of three steps, such as calculation of S.N.I.s of the individual descriptors, averaging all the descriptors's for each factor, and finally averaging the factors's for the Total S.N.I. 3) The evaluation unit was decided to be 100m size. The score system ranging 1~5 was adopted. Weighting parameters of factors were unified with each other. 4) A GIS model was adopted for classification, calculation, querying, analysing, and presenting S.N.I. information. And the format of S.N.I. maps including statistical graphs and other spatial watershed information was designed for the GIS odel. The naturalness of stream corridor was was investigated by the naturalness of habitat, and assessed by the descriptors focused on physical structure, therefore the S.N.I. can manifest prescriptions for restoration of the stream corridor. On the other hand because some evaluation factors such as water quality, water volume, fauna, flora, functions of stream exosystem has been excluded, S.N.I. could have some limits on representing the full aspects of stream naturalness. This evaluation method is hypothetical one, so it would be investigated through iterative applicatons.

Daphne L. (Thymelaceae) comprises about 95 species distributing worldwide from N Africa, N India, SE Asia to E Asia and the coast of the Mediterranean of Europe. In Korea, five species of this genus have been described. In this study, we included four species (D. genkwa, D. pseudomezereum, D. kiusiana, D. jejudoensis) from Korea, excluding cultivated D. odora. The morphological characters through local surveys and the re-classification of the specimens collected in the Korea National Herbarium (KH) were carried out and distribution maps for each taxon were also prepared. The major characters include habit, trichomes in winter bud, leaf, and twig, phyllotaxis, inflorescence, size of calyx lobe and trichomes in the calyx tube, etc. The distribution map showed that D. genkwa is mainly distributed in the coastal area of Hwanghaenam-do, Pyeongannam-do, Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do, whereas D. pseudomezereum is distributed in the limestone zone of Gangwon-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do. Similarly, D. kiusiana is mostly found in Jeollanam-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeju-do. In addition, D. jejudoensis is known to be distributed in forests of Murueng, Andeok, and Seonheul-ri in Jeju-do, but recently, new habitat is discovered in the island forest areas of Jeollanam-do. However, some of these individuals showed the characteristics of D. kiusiana, thus before come to any conclusion detailed taxonomic review of D. jejudoensis and D. kiusiana is required.
At Koppl area, undamaged natural habitat of sundew, I have analysed interspecific affinities and community composition through mathematical method and important environmental factors. Interspecific affinities of the species with frequency of more than 5% in vegetation table were analysed through chi-square test and showed obvious group of Drosera rotundifolia, Vaccinium uliginosum, Calluna vulgaris, Eriophorum angustifolium and 21 species. The result of ordination anlysis using DECORANA of VESPAN II showed eigenvalue of 0.6047 for axis I, 0.2024 for axis II and 0.0763 for axis Ⅲ. And it divided into 4 groups of quadrat number 1-5 for Sphagnum squarrosum-community, 6-10 for Crepis paludosa-community. 11-25 for Carex panicea-community and 26-35 for Scorpidium scorpioides-community. By the classification using TWINSPAN, the 7 areas divided into 2 groups of 1-10 and 11-35 at first level of division with high eigenvalue of 0.588 and indicator was Sphagnum squarrosum. At second level of division it divided into 4 groups as the results of DECORANA with eigenvalues of 0.268 and 0.423 and indicators were Pinguicula vulgaris and Scorpidium scorpioides. Microclimatic environment of studied area was low in temperature and high in humidity and soil environment showed high in field moisture capacity, acid, high organic matter content, low NO3 and K2O content, compare to normal soil, and high ground water level.

External fire spread has the potential to breach vertical compartmentation and violate the fire safety strategy of a building. The traditional design solution to this has been the use of non-combustible materials and spandrel panels but recent audits show that combustible materials are widespread and included in highly complex systems. Furthermore, most jurisdictions no longer require detailing of spandrel panels under many different circumstances. These buildings require rapid investigation using rational scientific methods to be able to adequately classify the fire risk. In this work, we use an extensive experimental campaign of material-scale data to explore the critical parameters driving upward flame spread. Two criteria are outlined using two different approaches. The first evaluates the time to ignition and the time to burnout to assess the ability for a fire to spread, and can be easily determined using traditional means. The second evaluates the preheated flame length as the critical parameter driving flame spread. A wide range of cladding materials are ranked according to these criteria to show their potential propensity to flame spread. From this, designers can use conservative approaches to perform fire risk assessments for buildings with combustible materials or can be used to aid decision-making. Precise estimates of flame spread rates within complex façade systems are not achievable with the current level of knowledge and will require a substantial amount of work to make progress.

The objective of this study was to discuss the characteristics of the moss flora of Mt. Deogyu located on the border of the Jeonbuk and Kyungnam provinces in Korea. A total of 21 field surveys were carried out at various sites in the mountain area from August 2007 to September 2008. All the collected materials were processed into voucher specimens and were currently deposited in the herbarium at Chonbuk National University (JNU). In this study, we collected and identified 158 moss taxa, which included 156 species, 1 subsp. and 1 var. of 96 genera and 37 families. Unconfirmed taxa in this study, but previously recorded, belonged to 25 taxa, which included 13 families, 19 genera and 25 species. In addition, 183 taxa were found on Mt. Dreogyu, which belonged to 37 families, 101 genera, 1 subsp. and 1 var. The habitat of each collection was examined and the classification system of Ignatov et al. (2006) was used. New vernacular names of 6 families and 11 genera were then determined. Six species, formerly thought be only in North Korea, were shown to be present on Mt. Deogyu, which included Bucklandiella laeta, Anomobryum filiforme var. concinnatum, Herzogiella turfacea, Brachythecium rutabulum, Eurhynchium angustirete and Campylidium hispidulum.
Coastal sand dune systems are particularly fragile and threaten the environment. However, these systems provide fundamental ecosystem services to the nearby urban areas, acting, for example, as protective buffers against erosion. In this paper, we attempt to classify the biotope types of coastal sand dune ecosystems and select an index for the assessment of the conservation value. The types of biotopes are categorized based on the vegetation map; floras are examined in order to research the effects of hinterlands on coastal sand dunes. In addition, a naturalization rate and an urbanization index for each biotope type in hinterlands are analyzed. In the ecosystem of coastal sand dunes, the urbanization index and naturalization rate shows a higher value in sand dunes with areas of road, residential, and idle land in farm villages, rice fields, and fields. On the contrary, a lower value in the urbanization index and naturalization rate is present when typical biotope types, such as sand dune vegetation and natural Pinus thunbergii forests, are widely distributed. Based on these results, urbanization index and naturalization rate should be used as critical indices for the assessment of the ecosystem of costal sand dunes.
In Korea, the initial installation of GIS requires lots of cost, time, and human efforts. If the accuracy of GIS data does not meet the certain standard for use, the system may not work as expected. So, it needs to be investigated for the accuracy of raw data. However, there is little study for the accuracy of raw data in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the data accuracy of raw data - geologic map, 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scale topographic map, forest stand map, degree of green naturality(DGN) map, and detailed survey data of DGN map-, which are to be used in Environmental Information System(EIS) in Korea. After this study, some errors in data were surveyed and following conclusions were derived. (1) There is no map data, e. g, wildlife habitat map. (2) Some data are misinterpreted depending on the location in the geologic map. (3) Some data are not updated properly after change of topography in the topographic map or the elevation and location is different depending on the scale.. (4) Some data are not edited properly in the forest stand map, e. g. two attributes in one polygon. (5) DGN classification system does not reflect the characteristic of Korean vegetation community. So, it needs to be refined and restructured.

Recently, robotic technologies have significantly improved, bringing considerable enhancements in many sectors; the main objective of this paper is to figure out if these innovations have also involved the building industry. To achieve this purpose, it has been considered crucial to first reshape and clarify some concepts, incorporating a much more flexible understanding of the term "robot", as well as the formulation of its future potential. Subsequently, it has been carried out an analysis of the various advanced devices that are currently available to be employed in the construction processes; the review includes a thorough classification of construction robots, divided into 18 families reflecting their purpose of use, and a dissection based on the term used to define them. The attention has been focused on the most updated and recent robots and, in their absence, on the most advanced machines prevailing. This operation has been achieved taking into account the development history of construction robots, as well as the analyses and classifications previously conducted, reconsidering them according to the just mentioned reflections. Furthermore, an in-depth exploration of the exoskeletons, as well as on a sophisticated robot recently developed by Schindler Group has been executed.
It is difficult to classify tidal flat surface that is composed of a mixture of mud, sand, water and microphytobenthos. We used a Linear Spectral Unmixing (LSU) method for effectively classifying the tidal flat surface characteristics within a pixel. This study aims at 1) detecting algal mat using LSU in the Saemangeum tidal flats, 2) determining a suitable end-member selection method in tidal flats, and 3) find out a habitual characteristics of algal mat. Two types of end-member were built; one is a reference end-member derived from field spectrometer measurements and the other image end-member. A field spectrometer was used to measure spectral reflectance, and a spectral library was accomplished by shape difference of spectra, r.m.s. difference of spectra, continuum removal and Mann-Whitney U-test. Reference end-members were extracted from the spectral library. Image end-members were obtained by applying Principle Component Analysis (PCA) to an image. The LSU method was effective to detect microphytobenthos, and successfully classified the intertidal zone into algal mat, sediment, and water body components. The reference end-member was slightly more effective than the image end-member for the classification. Fine grained upper tidal flat is generally considered as a rich habitat for algal mat. We also identified unusual microphytobenthos that inhabited coarse grained lower tidal flats.
