In the past decade, Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) have advanced at an exponential rate, particularly due to improvements in artificial intelligence, which have had a significant impact on social as well as road safety and the future of transportation systems. The fusion of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and camera data in real-time is known to be a crucial process in many applications, such as in autonomous driving, industrial automation and robotics. Especially in the case of autonomous vehicles, the efficient fusion of data from these two types of sensors is important to enabling the depth of objects as well as the classification of objects at short and long distances. This paper presents classification of objects using CNN based vision and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) fusion in autonomous vehicles in the environment. This method is based on convolutional neural network (CNN) and image up sampling theory. By creating a point cloud of LIDAR data up sampling and converting into pixel-level depth information, depth information is connected with Red Green Blue data and fed into a deep CNN. The proposed method can obtain informative feature representation for object classification in autonomous vehicle environment using the integrated vision and LIDAR data. This method is adopted to guarantee both object classification accuracy and minimal loss. Experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of presented approach for objects classification.
Recent research has seen significant improvements in various object detection and classification models overall. However, the study of object detection and classification in situations where objects are partially obscured remains an intriguing research topic. Particularly in the military domain, unmanned combat systems are often used to detect and classify objects, which are typically partially concealed or camouflaged in military scenarios. In this study, a method is proposed to enhance the classification performance of partially obscured objects. This method involves adding occlusions to specific parts of object images, considering the surrounding environment, and has been shown to improve the classification performance for concealed and obscured objects. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method leads to enhanced object classification compared to conventional methods for concealed and obscured objects.

This paper reports on the development of an automatic book classification system using the faced classification principles of CC(Colon Classification). To conduct this study, some 670 words in the botanical field were selected, analyzed in terms [P], [M], [E], [S], [T] employed in CC 7, and included in a database for classification. The principle of an automatic classification system is to create classification numbers automatically through automatic subject recognition and processing of key words in titles through the facet combination method of CC. Particularly, a classification database was designed along with a matrix-principle specifying the subject field for each word, which can allow automatic subject recognition possible.

It is challenging to survey the size and economical value of geospatial industry, because of the vagueness of the industry range. This study suggested a proposed method for the classification of geospatial industry based on Korea Standard Industry Classification, Th proposed method for the classification considered the value added chain of geospatial industry and Korean Standard Industry Classification, Theses considerations reflected characteristics of geospatial industry, Industrial statistics of geospatial industry are expected to be surveyed based on the classification proposed by this study,

In this paper, we propose a simple but effective algorithm to increase the speed of Emphysema region classification. Emphysema region classification method based on CT image consumes a lot of time because of the large number of subregions due to the large size of CT image. Some of the sub-regions contain no Emphysema and the classification of these regions is worthless. To speed up the classification process, we create an algorithm to select Emphysema region candidates and only use these candidates in the Emphysema region classification instead of all of the sub-regions. First, the lung region is detected. Then we threshold the lung region and only select the dark pixels because Emphysema only appeared in the dark area of the CT image. Then the thresholded pixels are clustered into a region that called the Emphysema pre-detected region or Emphysema region candidate. This region is then divided into sub-region for the Emphysema region classification. The experimental result shows that Emphysema region classification using predetected Emphysema region decreases the size of lung region which will result in about 84.51% of time reduction in Emphysema region classification.

The amount of incoming e-mails is increasing rapidly due to the wide usage of Internet. Therefore, it is more required to classify incoming e-mails efficiently and accurately. Currently, the e-mail classification techniques are focused on two way classification to filter spam mails from normal ones based mainly on Bayesian and Rule. The clustering method has been used for the multi-way classification of e-mails. But it has a disadvantage of low accuracy of classification. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-way e-mail classification method that uses PCA for automatic category generation and dynamic category hierarchy for high accuracy of classification. It classifies a huge amount of incoming e-mails automatically, efficiently, and accurately.
In this paper, we analyze the effect of the representative spectral indices, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), normalized difference water index (NDWI) and normalized difference built-up index (NDBI) on classification accuracies of Landsat-8 OLI image. After creating these spectral index images, we propose five methods to select the spectral index images as classification features together with Landsat-8 OLI bands from 1 to 7. From the experiments we observed that when the spectral index image of NDVI or NDWI is used as one of the classification features together with the Landsat-8 OLI bands from 1 to 7, we can obtain higher overall accuracy and kappa coefficient than the method using only Landsat-8 OLI 7 bands. In contrast, the classification method, which selected only NDBI as classification feature together with Landsat-8 OLI 7 bands did not show the improvement in classification accuracies.

In this paper, we propose a layer structure of a pest image classifier model using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) and background removal image processing algorithm for improving classification accuracy in order to build a smart monitoring system for pine wilt pest control. In this study, we have constructed and trained a CNN classifier model by collecting image data of pine wilt pest mediators, and experimented to verify the classification accuracy of the model and the effect of the proposed classification algorithm. Experimental results showed that the proposed method successfully detected and preprocessed the region of the object accurately for all the test images, resulting in showing classification accuracy of about 98.91%. This study shows that the layer structure of the proposed CNN classifier model classified the targeted pest image effectively in various environments. In the field test using the Smart Trap for capturing the pine wilt pest mediators, the proposed classification algorithm is effective in the real environment, showing a classification accuracy of 88.25%, which is improved by about 8.12% according to whether the image cropping preprocessing is performed. Ultimately, we will proceed with procedures to apply the techniques and verify the functionality to field tests on various sites.
This study presents a rule-based urban image classification method for time series analysis of changes in the vicinity of Asan-si and Cheonan-si in Chungcheongnam-do, using Landsat satellite images (1991-2006). The area has been highly developed through the relocation of industrial facilities, land development, construction of a high-speed railroad, and an extension of the subway. To determine the yearly changing pattern of the urban area, eleven classes were made depending on the trend of development. An algorithm was generalized for the rules to be applied as an unsupervised classification, without the need of training area. The analysis results show that the urban zone of the research area has increased by about 1.53 times, and each correlation graph confirmed the distribution of the Built Up Index (BUI) values for each class. To evaluate the rule-based classification, coverage and accuracy were assessed. When Optimal allowable factor=0.36, the coverage of the rule was 98.4%, and for the test using ground data from 1991 to 2006, overall accuracy was 99.49%. It was confirmed that the method suggested to determine the maximum allowable factor correlates to the accuracy test results using ground data. Among the multiple images, available data was used as best as possible and classification accuracy could be improved since optimal classification to suit objectives was possible. The rule-based urban image classification method is expected to be applied to time series image analyses such as thematic mapping for urban development, urban development, and monitoring of environmental changes.

The traffic classification is a preliminary and essential step for stable network service provision and efficient network resource management. While a number of classification methods have been introduced in literature, the payload signature-based classification method shows the highest performance in terms of accuracy, completeness, and practicality. However, the payload signature-based method has a significant drawback in high-speed network environment that the processing speed is much slower than other classification method such as header-based and statistical methods. In this paper, We describes various design options to improve the processing speed of traffic classification in design of a payload signature based classification system and describes our selections on the development of our traffic classification system. Also the feasibility of our selection was proved through experimental evaluation on our campus traffic trace.
