  • In this paper, we developed a simulator which can generate the polarization waves for the indoor wireless communications based on three dimensional ray tracing technique and verified the simulation results comparing with the measured data in indoor wireless propagation environments. Using the developed simulator, we analyzed the channel characteristic and polarization diversity reception characteristic for the vertical, horizontal and circularly polarized waves. From the analysis results, in the case of using circularly polarized wave it can be clearly seen that the multipath fading is markedly reduced compared to the vertical and horizontal polarized waves due to the reception characteristic of removing the odd time reflected waves.

  • In this paper, in order to enhance the performance improvements of both BER and PAPR characteristic for the conventional OFDM system, both circularly polarized waves and carrier interferometry signals which shows the robustic fading reduction effect are applied to the system, and then the performance of the proposed system has been evaluated by computer simulation. From the analysis, it can be seen that the system BER performance can be improved by 2 or 3 dB. Furthermore, it can be also seen that the PAPR characteristic can be markedly reduced.

  • In this paper, we analyzed a two-branch polarization diversity at a mobile station in NLOS environment when a base station transmits a circularly polarized wave. In order to calculate the correlation coefficient considering the XPD(cross polarization discrimination) between the received signals for the two diversity branches, a simple theoretical model of circular polarization diversity is adopted. From the analysis results, it can be seen that the XPD of circularly polarized wave is less than vertically polarized wave about 6~7 dB in measurement results. And also, it is clearly seen that the correlation coefficient of circular polarization diversity evaluated by the XPD is less than that of vertical polarization diversity.

  • We proposed a new radiating structure generating a circularly polarized wave. Futhermore, we show that it is possible to generate all kind of polarizations by simple variations of some schematic factors. Basically, the structure composed of a slot and a strip. The length of slot and strip, the slot-strip distance and the strip inclination are the crucial factors to determine the polarization form. In this paper, we investigated the effects on polarization and other radiation characteristics by varying the factors.

  • We propose a method for increasing the bandwidth of a substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) cavity-backed antenna with taper-based micro-strip SIW transition feeding. For radio transmission, a circular slot is etched on top of the SIW cavity. For optimal antenna design, the slot is etched slightly away from the cavity center to generate circularly polarized waves. Simulations show a wide axial ratio bandwidth of 7.860% between 11.02 GHz and 11.806 GHz. Experimental results confirm a similar wide axial ratio bandwidth of 4.9% between 10.8 GHz and 11.35 GHz. An SIW feed from an inductive window excites the radiating circular slot, resulting in a simulated wide impedance range of 1.548 GHz (10.338 GHz-11.886 GHz) and bandwidth of 13.93%. Experimental results show a wide impedance of 2.08 GHz (10.2 GHz-12.08 GHz) and bandwidth of 18.84%. The SIW cavity-backed antenna creates a unidirectional pattern, leading to gains of 6.61 dBi and 7.594 dBi in simulations and experiments, respectively. The proposed antenna was fabricated on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate, and the reflection coefficient, radiation patterns, and gains were tested and compared using a computer simulator. The developed broadband antenna seems suitable for X-band applications.

  • This paper proposes the OFDM system that uses circularly polarized waves for improving the system performance. The circular polarization has the characteristic that it cannot receive the waves which are reflected by odd times. Using this characteristic, a modified OFDM system that uses the cross-handed circular polarization(XCP-OFDM) is newly proposed. By using the characteristic of circular polarization, it is clearly seen that the system performance of XCP-OFDM can be improved to a great extent. This is due to a reduction of the interferences caused by reflected waves and inter-channel interference. Both theoretical analysis and system simulation results are described.

  • In this paper, we investigate the radio wave radiation pattern to measure the actual field strength for the transmission antenna dipole antenna and the CP-ring antenna being used in our country as FM station, and the comparison was for field application. Compare results, If the transmitting station and the relay station which is located in the middle of a service area has been a useful CP-dipole antenna (four directions). CP-ring antenna having a directivity because the reflection effect of the tower was able to adjust the orientation to prevent the spread of menstrual another service area in the main direction was able to radiate high propagation 5~9dB. Especially, If the transmitting station and the relay station is located on one side of the service area for radiating radio waves in three directions by using the CP-ring antennas focus the orientation of the antenna in populated areas and road area can improve the broadcast reception environment.

  • There are many types of circularly polarized(CP) microstrip antenna elements, which are used as a good unit radiator. Since an advantage of CP antenna is no strict alignment requirements between Rx and Tx system, the printed antennas with circular polarization are very often used in numerous satellite and mobile radio systems. In order to realize the broad bandwidth of 3 dB axial ratio and impedance of CP microstrip antenna, complex feed structure and tri-plate patch element have been researched. This paper describes a design of wideband microstrip cross slot array antennas with circular polarization. The proposed antenna is composed of an open-ended microstrip feed line as a feeder and a cross slot as a radiator for circular polarization. To realize the wide bandwidth, tri-plate structure are considered and cross slot is electromagnetically coupled with feed line. Optimum parameters of 1-element cross slot antenna are analyzed and designed by method of moments. These parameters are also applied to may antennas design considered the mutual coupling between radiating elements. Right hand circular polarization(RHCP) and left hand circular polarization(LHCP) of the proposed antenna are easily controlled by asymmetrical cross slot structure and slot position. In 1-element and 15-element cross slot array antenna, the good axial ratio of 1 dB below and the broad bandwidth characteristics of antenna are obtained.
