  • H$_2$O$_2$ has been shown to act as a signaling molecule involved in many cellular functions such as oxidant-induced stress, apoptosis, proliferation. In this study, we investigated the action mechanisms of H$_2$O$_2$ on activation of Extracellular Signal-Regulated Protein Kinase(ERK) in cultured feline ileal smooth muscle cells(ISMC). Western blot analysis done with phospho-specific MAP kinases antibodies demonstrated that potent activation of ERK and moderate activation of SAPK/JNK occurred within 30 min of H$_2$O$_2$ treatment. • N-glycosylation, a common post-translational modification, is widely acknowledged to have a significant effect on protein stability and folding. N-glycosylation is a complex process that occurs in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and requires the participation of multiple enzymes. GlcNAc-1-P-transferase (GPT) is essential for initiating N-glycosylation in the ER. Tunicamycin is a natural product that inhibits N-glycosylation and produces ER stress, and thus it is utilized in research. The molecular mechanism by which GPT triggers N-glycosylation is discussed in this review based on the GPT structure. Based on the structure of the GPT-tunicamycin complex, we also discuss how tunicamycin reduces GPT activity, which prevents N-glycosylation. This review will be highly useful for understanding the role of GPT in the N-glycosylation of proteins, as well as presents a potential for considering tunicamycin as an antibiotic treatment.

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the operation of continuing education system and continuing education program for emergency medical technician in Korea, Japan and United States and develop reasonable operating scheme of continuing education and curriculum in order to provide the base data for the improvement of continuing education for the improved practice capability and its maintenance, Method: The overall review of continuing education for domestic 1st class emergency medical technician was performed and also the content of continuing education for Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic in the United States and Paramedics of Fire Department with the license for the paramedic in Japan, have been analyzed through literature, books, articles, agencies' data, laws, and internet date. Result: Hours for domestic continuing education was 4-8 hours and it was only 3-11% compared to 72 hours in the United States and 128 hours in the Japan. And with respect to the types and methods of programs, there were differences both in quantity and quality. Conclusion: As an education, providing and supplementing the changed content and technical information for the improvement of the capability and qualification of emergency medical technician, selection of education hours and various continuing education should be continuously and regularly provided and conducted. The introduction of various continuing education system and programs for this is considered to be required.

  • This study was conducted to be used as basic data of environmental friendly construction planning by comparing and analyzing thermal environment, find particles and biotope area rate according to land cover types of outside space of schools located in Chung-ju. When meteorological factors were analyzed according to land cover types, for temperature planting area and paved area showed low-and high-temperature ranges, respectively, and relative humidity was negatively related with temperature as low-and high-temperature ranges corresponded to high-and low-humidity ranges, respectively. For Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Index (WBGT) by land cover types, it was observed to be artificial grass> bare land> natural grass. Find particles were different according to land cover types of playground with being bare land> artificial grass> natural grass in the order. Bare land playground, where there were artificial factors and no absorption of fine particles through stomata of leaves as a function of natural circulation, recorded the highest level of $39.8\;{\mu}g/m^3$ and the level was relatively higher compared to the levels by season in Chung-ju. Biotope area rate showed the order of M elementary school> K elementary school> C commercial high school. That was considered to be caused by the difference of land cover type of school playground accounting for a large part of a school.
