동통을 동반한 제2 중족 족지 관절 불안정성의 치료경험 - 1예 보고 - (Surgical Treatment for Painful Instability of the Second Metatarsophalangeal Joint - 1 Case Report -)

  • An unstable second metatarsophalangeal joint may produce pain in the forefoot. Plication of stretched lateral ligament and capsule and transfer of the extensor digitorum brevis under the transverse intermetatarsal ligament performed as the primary procedure to stabilize this painful joint. But the pain was not subsided and the proximal phalanx was resubluxated. So, we osteotomized the second metatarsal to restore a normal alignment of the second toe. Then the symptom was subsided. We report a case of painful instability of the metatarsophalangeal joint of the second toe.

  • Osteochondral lesion usually occurs in the elbow, knee and ankle joints. Many articles about osteochondral lesion of the talus in the ankle joint have been reported. We experienced a rare case of partially detached osteochondral lesion of the tibial plafond treated with excision and multiple drilling.

서울과 춘천의 장기간 시정 변화경향 (Long-term Trends of Visibility in Seoul and Chunchon)

  • Using data observed from 1966 to 1994, long-term trends of visibility at 15:00 in Seoul and Chunchon were analyzed. Annual average visibility in Seoul has been decreased continuously. In particular, annual number of days for visibility more than 15km was remarkably reduced since 1980. Also, the trend of the visibility in Chunchon was similar to that of Seoul. But the variations were small to compare with Seoul. Long-term trends of relative humidity (RH) and specific humidity (q) at 15:00 in Seoul have been slightly decreased. Cumulative frequency distributions of visibility for ranges of RH (0 $\sim 50%, 50 \sim 60%, 60 \sim 70%, 70 \sim 80%, 80 \sim 90%, 90 \sim 100%$) at 15:00 in Seoul and Chunchon were generally decreased during the second period (1984 $\sim$ 1994) as compared with the first period (1973 $\sim$ 1983), except for the range of 90 to 100% RH. Despite of decreasing phenomena of RH, characteristics of urban climates in Seoul, visibility degraded due to an increase of air pollution.

  • Painful and disabling snapping scapula is an unusual condition and there have been several reports that have revealed good results after surgical treatment for unilateral snapping scapula. We experienced a case of bilateral painful snapping scapula in a young man, but with successful treatment by partial resection of the superomedial angle of both scapula. Preoperative 3-dimensional CT revealed bony prominence of the superomedial angle of both scapula and narrowing between superior scapular angle and chest wall.

  • The osteochondroma is a cartilage-capped exostosis resulting from an error in the regulation of normal chondrocyte proliferation and maturation that leads to a normal bone growth. Although exostoses are benign lesions, they are often associated with characteristic progressive skeletal deformities and may cause clinical symptoms. Surgery can prevent progression and provide correction for certain deformities. We experienced a rare case of solitary osteochondroma in a 21-year-old male which caused the valgus deformity of the ankle.

Enhancement of BDNF Production by Co-cultivation of Human Neuroblastoma and Fibroblast Cells

  • It has been proved that co-cultivation of human neroblastoma cells and human fibroblast cells can enhance nerve cell growth and the production of BDNF in perfusion cultivation. In batch co-cultivation, maximum cell density was increased up to 1.76${\times}$106 viable cells/mL from 9${\times}$105 viable cells/mL of only neuroblastoma cell culture. The growth of neuroblastoma cells was greatly improved by culturing both nerve and fibroblast cells in a perfusion process, maintaining 1.5${\times}$106 viable cells/mL, which was much higher than that form fed-batch cultivation. The nerve cell growth was greatly enhance in both fed-batch and perfusion cultivations while the growth of fibroblast cells was not. It strongly implies that the factors secreted from human fibrobast cells and/or the environments of co-culture system can enhance both cell growth and BDNF secretion. Specific BDNF production rate was not enhanced in co-cultures; however, the production period was increased as the cell growth was lengthened in the co-culture case. Competitive growth between nerve cells and fibroblast cells was not observed in all cases, showing no changes of fibroblast cell growth and only enhancement of the neuroblastoma cell growth and overall BDNF production. It was also found that the perfusion cultivation was the most appropriate process for cultivating two cell lines simultaneously in a bioreactor.

춘천지역의 참취 및 삼지구엽초의 자생지 식생 및 환경특성 (Vegetation and Environment in Natural Habitats of Aster scaber and Epimedium koreanum around Chunchon)

  • 유용자원식물의 자생지 재배기술의 확립을 위한 기초자료를 얻고저 참취와 삼지구엽초의 자생지 식생 및 환경(생태 및 토양화학성분) 조사를 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 참취자생지인 춘천 A. 연엽산 A 그리고 연엽산 B에서의 종수는 20, 26, 25종이었고 삼지구엽초 자생지인 춘천 B, 북방면 그리고 대룡산에서는 15, 32, 26종이었다. 참취 자생지의 우점종은 춘천 A, 연엽산 A, 연엽산 B에서 맑은대쑥, 애기나리, 실새풀 등이었으며 삼지구엽초의 자생지인 춘천 B, 북방면, 대룡산에서는 고사리, 맑은대쑥, 애기나리 등이 우점하였다. 2. 자생지의 토양산도는 4.5-5.3 범위였으며 유기물 함량은 1.59(춘천A)$\sim$5.5(연엽산 B)이었다. 암모니아태 질소 및 질산태 질소함량은 참취 자생지와 삼지구엽초 자생지 토양에서 평균 각각 0.0043mg/kg, 0.0025mg/kg이었다. 3. 자생지 토양의 $NH_4-N$의 성분은 참취의 자생지의 토양성분이 삼지구엽초의 자생지 토양성분보다 약간 높은 수치를 보였다. 그밖의 성분의 차이는 크게 나타나지 않았다.
