Objectives : The present study reports seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc treated by Muscle Energy Technique and Korean traditional medicine therapy. Methods : Seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc were treated by Muscle Energy Rechnique and Korean traditional medicine therapy and were assessed by Manual Muscle Test, numeric rating scale, and oswestry low back pain disability index. Results : Among seven foot drop patients, two cases showed complete recovery, three cases showed recovery over good grade, and two cases showed recovery over good grade after temporary weakness. numeric rating scale and oswestry low back pain disability index of all cases showed improvement. Conclusions : Seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc were treated by Muscle Energy Rechnique and Korean traditional medicine therapy and showed improvement. It is anticipated that this report benefits the future in depth study and clinical treatments on the foot drop symptom in korean medicine.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of spinal mobilization with leg movement (SMWLM) using Korean Medicine treatment on acute lower limb muscle weakness through four case studies. Methods SMWLM, with other Korean Medicine treatments, was performed on four patients who underwent treatment at OOOO Korean Medicine Hospital from August 2017 to July 2018. Additionally, results of the Numerical Rate Scale(NRS), EuroQol-FiveDimensions(EQ-5D),Oswestry lowback pain disability questionnaire(ODI), Straight Leg Raise(SLR) test, and Manual Muscle Test(MMT) were evaluated. Results There was a significant increase in NRS, ODI, and EQ-5D scales with im-rovements of SLR angle and MMT figures to a normal range. Conclusions This study suggested that Korean Medicine treatment combined with SMWLM may affect treating acute lower limb muscle weakness. Further clinical studies are needed to establish a definite conclusion.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of Bong (a type of stick which is called bong) Chuna manual therapy (CMT) on the correction of posterior inferior (PI) ilium deviation, and evaluate changes of pain intensity and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for the treatment of low back pain. Methods : We measured leg length inequality (LLI), as an indicator of correction of PI ilium, before and after the Bong CMT twice immediately, and also checked the change of LLI in the course of 10 times of treatment. Ten times of Bong CMT with oriental medical treatment, such as acupuncture and bee venom pharmacopuncture, were performed not only to correct the PI ilium deviation but also to alleviate pain. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Oswetry Low-back Pain Disability Index (ODI) score were scored to evaluate the pain and function of low back. Results : In this study, LLI was decreased in general while we performed correction of PI ilium deviation immediately, also effectively decreased comparing between before and after 10 times of Bong CMT, Bong CMT with oriental medical treatment improved pain and function of low back. Conclusions : These results suggest that Bong CMT may be an effective method for the correction of PI ilium deviation. However more rigorous study should be followed because of small cases report.

Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate efficacy and patient satisfaction of acupuncture or Chuna therapy for back pain. Methods: Amongst all the patients with back pain who had been treated at Sun-cheon korean medicine hospital, Dong-shin university, only patients that had received either acupuncture or Chuna manual therapy between September 1 and October 31, 2017 were selected and their medical charts retrospectively analyzed. A questionnaire was used in the investigation that consisted of a numeric rating scale (NRS), the Oswestry low-back pain disability index (ODI), general, emotional, conversational, and technical satisfaction. The questionnaire was completed before treatment and at weekly intervals (approximately). Treatment efficacy was analyzed using the first and last questionnaires. The last questionnaire was also used to establish patient satisfaction. The data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows version 21.0. Results: The NRS, Current degree of pain (ODI-1), and total ODI were significantly decreased in both the acupuncture and Chuna groups. The differences in NRS, ODI-1, and total ODI changes between treatment groups were not significant. There were no statistically significant differences between the acupuncture and Chuna groups in terms of general, emotional, conversational, and technical satisfaction. Conclusion: Acupuncture treatment significantly reduces NRS and ODI in patients who have back pain without structural transformation, and Chuna therapy significantly reduces NRS and ODI-1 in patients who have back pain with structural transformation. These results indicate that further studies should be conducted in more patients and over a longer period.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to review and summarize about occupational medicine and to applicate the occupational medicine to oriental medicine. Methods : We investigated several books, articles and related internet sites to know occupational medicine's present conditions in Korea and other countries, and researched the plan on oriental medical participation in the industrial health. Results and Conclusion : The conclusions are as follows, 1. Recent years, industrialization has changed working environment and health condition in workplace, so industrial health service has became important part. 2. Occupational medicine has the purpose of protection. prevention, fitness, health management, medical treatment. rehabilitation, and primary medical service. The range of occupational medicine is enlarged mental, social good health and social, economical production capacity recently. 3. After research each country's occupational medicine, we can know the purpose is same, but the system and work contents are different one another. 4. Oriental medical participation in the industrial health has various benefits, satisfaction of workers, efficiency of cost, and increasing rate of medical treatment through the western and oriental medical cooperation.

The deterioration of neurologic symptoms, like disc rupture or cauda equina syndrome within short time caused by abdominal pressure, seems to be an uncommon event. We experienced a man who had a sudden deterioration to cauda equina syndrome for a day. We presume that the reason is the increase of abdominal pressure by coughing. He had also undergone to repetitive minute damage after degenerative condition. Therefore, doctors and patients should be aware about degenerative state, possibility of minute damage, and be careful to its cause like coughing.

Objectives : The purpose of this clinical case is to evaluate the efficacy of Korean Medicine treatment on Syringomyelia with Herniated Intervertebral Disc(HIVD) of C-SPINE. Methods : We used Acupunture, herbal acupuncture, herbal medicine for this patient. This patient received hospital treatment for 15 days. Results : Patient's chief complain were neck pain and trapezius pain. NRS of chief complaint decreased from 6 to 2 and Patient's NDI decreased from 46 to 14. Conclusions : We experienced improvement of symptoms in this case by acupuncture stimulation, herbal medicine. and we hope this study is helpful for the treatment of Syringomyelia with HIVD of C-SPINE.

Objectives : The propose of this study is to find out the clinical application of conservative treatment to the patient who has Lumbar incomplete burst fracture. Methods : We examined 1 patient with lumbar burst fracture who admitted Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine. Results : In this study, the patient showed a certain degree of improvement in gait disturbance. Low back and leg pain were also reduced significantly after conservative oriental medical treatment. Conclusions : Conservative oriental medical treatment can be effective for improving symptoms of Lumbar incomplete burst fracture, decreasing pain.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to suggest (diagnostic) criteria for lumbar disc space and see the correlation between lumbar disc space narrowing and the level of HIVD. Methods : We looked at the 113 patients diagnosed disc space narrowing with lumbar x-ray and MRI films who have visited Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine with low back pain in October,2013. The width of lumbar disc space and the severity of Herniated Intervertebral Disc(HIVD) on MRI films were collected and stastically analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Results : In this study, measured value(%) for lumbar disc space of the group diagnosed serious HIVD, such as protrusion, extrusion and migration was significantly decresed compared to the normal group and the bulging group. Conclusion : There was a significant correlation between lumbar disc space narrowing and the level of HIVD.
