  • Objectives This study was conducted to survey the trends of Korean medicine clinical research using radiological measurements of the musculoskeletal system. Methods We searched four domestic research databases (OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KISS) and three academic journals (Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation, The Journal of Korea CHUNA Manual Medicine for Spine & Nerves, and Journal of Acupuncture Research). Selected studies were classified by publishing year, journal, the purpose of studies, and body region mainly researched in studies. Additionally, we analyzed the radiological measurements used in each body region. Results A total of 80 studies were selected. Most of the studies were published since2000. Most studies were published in the Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation. The mainly researched body region was the lumbar spine. The main purpose of the studies was to analyze the characteristics of the disease. Conclusions Further research is needed about other different fields of Korean Medicine using X-ray on various body region and studies with purpose of analyzing radiological measurements need to be researched more.

  • Objectives : It is known that rouleau condition of red blood cell on live blood analysis is related to degree of fatigue. This study was planed to prove the correlation between rouleau condition of red blood cell and degree of fatigue by using the questionnaire 'Symptom Table on Fatigue Perception' that had been verified before. Methods : We analyzed the correlation between rouleau condition and degree of fatigue by calculating ratio of rouleau of red blood cell after measuring degree of fatigue by the questionnaire to the people who had not evidence of illness on health examination and did not take any medicine. Results and Conclusions : This study showed a significance of positive correlation(0.464) between physical fatigue and rouleau condition of red blood cell.

  • Objectives : This report is about a case of a patient who improvement in general condition, Infection and bowel after and urinary dysfunction. Methods : We diagnosed that symptoms as Wejeung(?證), and employed oriental medical treatments, herb medication, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion and physical therapy. Results : In the first case, neurologic impairment was aggravated despite of 15 days of treatments. In the second case, motor and defecation was improved. Conclusions : There is no specific treatment for acute transverse myelitis in the Western medicine. Several case reports revealed clinical improvement of subacute or chronic transverse myelitis in the oriental medicine. We anticipated that the researches regarding treatment for acute transverse myelitis in the oriental medicine will be encouraged in the near future.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to assess the use of Korean medicine for treating radial nerve palsy. Methods : We searched for studies on the use of Korean medicine for the treatment of radial nerve palsy in 7 electronic databases and analyzed these studies. Results : We found 95 studies on radial nerve palsy from 7 electronic databases. We excluded 77 duplicate studies, 1 review article and 2 studies published before 2000. As a result, 15 case studies(36 patients) were included. Acupuncture(15 times), electroacupuncture(6 times), pharmacopuncture(9 times), herbal medicine(11 times), physical therapy(10 times), moxibustion(3 times), cupping therapy(1 time), chuna manual therapy(1 time) and yinyang balancing appliance(1 time) were used. LI11 for acupuncture, LI4, LI11 for electroacupuncture, bee venom as pharmacopuncture material and LI4, LI10, LI11 in pharmacopuncture point, Boik-tang gami as herbal medicine, hot pack for physical therapy, LI4, LI11 for moxibustion were the most frequently used. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment for radial nerve palsy has been performed in various ways. However, we found limited evidence regarding Korean medicine for radial nerve palsy. Thus, we think various types of studies including more case reports, for radial nerve palsy should be performed in the future.

  • Objectives: To invesgate correlation between the scoliotic curve and BMI, cervical lordosis, lumbar lordosis and Ferguson angle in spinal scoliotic patient. Methods: The study was composed of 14 scoliosis patients beyond cobb'a angle $10^{\circ}$ (sample I group) and 15 scoliosis patients over cobb'a angle $10^{\circ}$ (sample II group). The patients were evaluated with X-ray findings of full spine AP and lateral views and statistically analyzed. Results: 1. Sample II group showed a significant decrease in BMI as compared with Sample I group(P<0.05). 2. Scoliotic curve had s negative relationship with $BMI({\gamma}=0.406)$ 3. Scolotic patients had a lower cervical angle than normal man. Conclusion: 1. The larger the scoliotic angle, the lower BMI 2. There are no concemed scoliotic curve and cervical lordosis, lumbar lordosis and Ferguson angle.

  • Objectives : Electroacupuncture(EA) has been suggested as a treatment for stroke rehabilitation. But whether, how much, by what mechanism and when it is effective has not been answered satisfactorily. Therefore it is important to critically review clinical trials and laboratory researches about EA for stroke rehabilitation. Subjectives : We researched various recent sources of EA for stroke rehabilitation such as medical journals and especially tried to review methodologically best randomized controlled trials(RCTs). Results and Conclusions : 1) EA increases brain plasticity, activity, blood flow and secretion of neuropeptides in CNS. 2) EA is significantly effective at the case that more than half of the neural motor pathway is reserved. 3) The acupoints, frequncy and intensity of EA should be determined by patient-specific symptoms of stroke. 4) More studies is needed for merdian functions for stroke rehabilitation.

  • Objectives : This study is to evaluate the effect of flexion-distraction technique by measuring surface EMG in low back pain groups. Methods : 5 low back pain patients' constact time, power, fatigue, recovery of muscle were measured before and after flexion-distraction technique. Results : The asymmetry ratio of surface EMG in low back pain groups were Increased, but decreased after flexion-distraction technique. Conclusions : Surface EMG might be used for evaluating the effect of flexion-distraction technique.

  • Objectives: To find relation with training period and body composition of peoples engaged in training program of six weeks and present a better training formula. Methods: Changes of body composition during training were analysed with paired t-test. correlation of training period and body composition were analysed with simple correlation analysis. Results: Body weight, body fat and body fat ratio were decreased significantly, all of them were concerned in training period. Conclusions: Training program of six weeks reduce body weight, body fat ratio even muscle mass. It should be careful to order training prescription.
