A Study on the Characteristic Analysis of Hybrid Choke Coil suitable for LED-TV SMPS (LED-TV용(用) 전원장치에 적합한 Hybrid 초크 코일의 특성 해석에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the intra capacitance modeling according to the winding method, section bobbin and coil structure for hybrid choke coil capable of the EMI attenuation of broad bands from lower frequency bands to higher frequency bands and high frequency type common-mode choke coil capable of the EMI attenuation of high frequency band used in the EMI Block of LED-TV SMPS. In case of high frequency type CM choke coil, it can be explained the parasitic capacitance of A type and section bobbin type winding methods among them is much smaller than the other. The first resonant frequency of the proposed CM choke coil tends to increase as the parasitic capacitance becomes small and its impedance characteristics also show improved performance as the first resonant frequency increases. In case of hybrid choke coil using rectangular copper wire, it has investigated its parasitic capacitance compared to CM choke coil of conventional toroidal type becomes small. Also it has confirmed through the experiment results that CE margin and RE margin in frequency bands 0.5MHz to 5MHz and 30MHz to 200MHz are respectively 10dB and 15dB greater than that of conventional type in case of one stage EMI filter structure adopting hybrid choke coil compared to two stage EMI Filter structure using two of each CM choke coil used in the lower and higher frequency bands or two of CM choke coil used in only the lower frequency bands. In the future, the hybrid choke coil and CM choke coil of high frequency type show it can be practically used in not only LED/LCD-TV SMPS but also several applications such as LED Lighting, Laptop Adapter, Server Power Supply and so on.

  • This paper describes the parasitic capacitance modeling according to the coil structure, section bobbin and winding method for hybrid choke coil with reduced parasitic capacitance capable of the EMI attenuation of broad bands from lower frequency to higher frequency applied in the EMI attenuation filter of LED-TV SMPS. Especially, the hybrid choke coil with reduced parasitic capacitance($C_p$) proposed in this paper can reduces the parasitic capacitance($C_p$) by adopting the winding methods of rectangular copper wire, compared to the conventional common mode choke coil with the winding method of automatic type. The first resonant frequency of the proposed hybrid choke coil has a tendency to increase as the parasitic capacitance is smaller and its impedance characteristics, especially in the high frequency bands, improves as the first resonant frequency increases. In the future, the proposed hybrid choke coil with reduced parasitic capacitance shows it can be actually utilized in not only LED-TV SMPS but also various applications such as LED Lighting, Note-PC Adapter, and so forth.

  • Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs) are widely used as surge protectors for communication applications due to their small internal capacitance. In these days, however, they are mostly used in combined configurations, because the sparkover voltage required to initiate the discharge process in the GDTs and the time taken for arc formation process can be large enough to damage to sensitive circuits. For GDTs with a considerably high initial residual voltage, we should limit the peak voltage using a TVS or filter. We made a hybrid SPD circuits of common-mode type and differential-mode type with the filter using common-mode choke. Also, we applied lightning impulse voltage and ring wave voltage which frequency bandwidth are different each other and verified the characteristics of hybrid SPD circuits according to waveshapes. We describe how the applied SPDs operate in protection process steps with the actual data obtained from the residual voltage measurement at each step. The experiment results show that the surge voltage reduction with the choke coil is more effective in differential-mode circuit than in common-mode circuit.

In these days, however, they are mostly used in combined configurations, because the activation voltage required to initiate the discharge process in the GDTs for sufficient amount of time can be large enough to damage surge-sensitive protected circuits. For GDTs with a considerably high initial over-voltage value, we should limit the peak voltage using a TVS or filter. As for ZnO varistors, even though their performance for voltage restriction is excellent, their applications in high-frequency commnuication circuits have been limited because of higher internal capacitance when compared to the GDTs. In order to develop a surge protector for commnuication applications by taking advantages of these two devices, we built a combination circuit that connects a GDT and a ZnO varistor along with a choke coil in common and differential modes. We describe how the applied SPDs operate in protection process steps with the actual data obtained from the residual voltage measurements at each step. The experiment results show that the surge voltage restriction with the choke coil is more effective in 100 [kHz] RingWave voltage than in lightning impulse voltage.

  • For decrease the harmonic current components of the power source, a first method is insert the choke coil that used the choke input type rectifier, the booster chopper circuit and buck chopper circuit. And the several method are studying like as the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) converter and the active filter type which is used the high frequency switching and the sinusoidal wave formed input current. In this type, there are many problem as a low efficiency, increased the noise, the high leakage current and cost up by the high frequency switching. For improve this problems, the partial resonan method is used on the booster inducter and lossles snubber condenser. This method decreased the distortion factor has lower harmonic components than the hard switching and there is no switching loss by the ZCS(Zero Current Switching) at switch turn-on and the ZVS(Zero Voltage Swithcing) at switch turn-off

  • In this paper, high density on-board dc/dc converter using multi-layer PCB is proposed. Recently, the communication system wants power supply of open-frame, high density and low profile. So experimental converter was consisted of 3.3V/30A Quarter Brick size DC/DC Converter. To power height limit, coil of transformer, choke and circuits were consisted of multi layer PCB. Besides to improve of efficiency, made secondary synchronous rectifier Mosfet driving circuit. So total efficiency could be improved.

Switching-Mode BJT Driver for Self-Oscillated Push-Pull Inverters

  • Self oscillating current fed push pull resonant inverters can be controlled without using special drivers. Dc current flows through the choke coil and the power switches, although the driving signals of the power switches are sinusoidal. When the base current is near zero, the transistors cannot be operated in switching mode. Hence higher switching power losses and instantaneous peak power during off transitions are observed. In this study, an alternative design has been proposed to overcome this problem. A prototype circuit has been built which provides dc bias current to the base of the transistors. Experimental results are compared with theoretical calculations to demonstrate the validity of the design. The proposed design decreases the peak and average power losses by about 8 times, when compared to conventional designs.

A Study on the Low Noise Medical SMPS (의료용 SMPS 개발 및 노이즈 감소 대책에 대한 연구)

  • The main noise sources in SMPS are divided into three parts: the switching devices, the rectifiers in secondary part, the output transformer and choke coil. In this paper we performed the noise analysis with respect to bobbin type and winding method, and designed an optimized transformer focusing on the transformer. For the comparison. we measured four parameters for each cases, including EMI conducted emission noise. signal from the switching devices, output ripple/noise voltage and leakage current. As the result, the transformer using a vertically-typed bobbin and a parallel, sandwich winding method showed the best performance. We confirmed that the SMPS developed in this research is satisfied with the IEC 601-1 international standard for the medical instrumentation. by testing its electrical characteristics and safety.

  • 전자식 안정기는 최근 에너지 절약 정책과 관련하여 조명기기분야의 관심의 대상이 되었고, 절전 효율이 높은 고품질의 전자식 안정기에 대한 연구 개발 및 보급이 점점 더 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 일반적으로 전자식 안정기는 수십 KHz의 고주파에서 형광등을 구동시킴으로써 빛의 깜박거림과 가청잡음이 없으며, 저주파(60Hz)에서 사용하는 재래식 안정기(choke coil 방식)에 비해 높은 절전 효과를 얻을 수 있다[1-4]. 특히, 빌딩 사무실의 경우 낮에도 창가의 형광등이 켜져 있어서 막대한 전력을 낭비하고 있는 실정이므로, 일조량에 따른 자동 전력 조절이 가능한 전자식 형광등의 출현이 기대되고 있다. 전자식 안정기의 보급 확대를 위해서는 절전 효과 뿐만 아니라, 품질 문제, 수명 문제등을 고려하여야 하는 바, 예를 들면 순간 점등으로 방전초기의 sputtering 현상에 의한 lamp의 수명 단축, 미소 입력전압 변동에 따른 급격한 광출력의 변화로 절전 효과의 상실과 이상동작에 의한 스위칭 소자의 파괴 현상, 고주파 스위칭시 발생되는 전력손실과 noise등에 대한 대책이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 점을 개선하기 위해 추가되는 회로는 전자식 안정기 시스템을 더욱 복잡하게 만들고, 경제적으로 원가 부담을 주기 때문ㅇ 고품질의 전자식 안정기를 보급하는데 어려운 점으로 부각되고 있다. 본 고에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 조광기능을 포함한 다양한 제어회로와 보호회로를 조광기능을 포함한 다양한 제어회로와 보호회로를 1 chip에 수용하는 고품질의 전자식 안정기 제어용 집적회로에 대해서 기술하고자 한다.되어 나아갈 기술의 조류에도 부합하는 형태라 하겠다. 그러나 이 방식은 기 언급한 바와 같이 분산처리를 관장하는 운영체계의 개발에 상당한 고전이 따르리라 보여지며, 또한 보다 상세한 연구가 선행되어야 하겠지만 개발된 상용의 통신 프로토콜로서는 병렬처리의 성능을 극대화 하기에는 여러가지 제약이 있을 것으로 예측된다.기기들이 어떻게 응용되고 있는지 살펴보기로 하자. real informations would be available.
