In this review, we will discuss aptamer technologies including in vitro selection, signal transduction mechanisms, and designing aptamers and aptazyme for label-free biosensors and catalysts. Dye-displacement, a typical label-less method, is described here which allows avoiding relatively complex labeling steps and extending this application to any aptamers without specific conformational changes, in a more simple, sensitive and cost effective way. We will also describe most recent and advanced technologies of signaling aptamer and aptazyme for the various analytical and clinical applications. Quantum dot biosensor (QDB) is explained in detail covering designing and adaptations for multiplexed protein detection. Application to aptamer array utilizing self-assembled signaling aptamer DNA tile and the novel methods that can directly select smart aptamer or aptazyme experimentally and computationally will also be finally discussed, respectively.

Strumpell, in 1880, was the first to describe familial case of spastic paraplegia characterized by progressive weakness and spasticity of the lower limbs with little or no involvement of the upper extremities. This syndrome is heterogeneous in inheritance, age of onset, severity and associated signs. We present one family with autosomal dominant hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) due to SPG4 (spastin) gene mutation which is confirmed by genomic DNA isolated from peripheral blood.

Fermented fish (jeotkal) has been used as a method of preserving perishable fish and marine products. Recently, however, high salted jeotkal (20% and more) has avoided from consumer by reasons of organoleptic quality (high salinity), health value (degenerative chronic disease), and hygienic safety. Among these jeotkals, meanwhile, sikhae (lactic acid fermented fishes) has been traditionally favored in the eastern coastal area of Korea, which contain below 10% of salt content with acidic range (pH4∼5). The Thoroughbred horse was an approximately 4-years-old castrated male with highly emaciation, nasal epistaxis and subsequently died. Gross necropsy revealed epistaxis and hyperemia on the lung, multiple hemorrhage in muscle, and liver was focally attached to the peritoneum with fibrin. According to polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Equine herpes virus type 1 and 4 (EHV type 1, 4) was detected in the lung and trachea. In bacterial culture from kidney, liver, spleen, muscle and blood, Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus was isolated. Based on the gross lesion and PCR, this horse was diagnosed as EHV type 1, 4 and S. zooepidemicus coinfection.

최근 인터넷 기사 중에는 부정확한 제목이나 자극적인 단어를 사용하는 경우가 많아 구독자에게 불편함을 준다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기사들의 헤드라인을 삭제하고, 기사의 내용을 3문장으로 요약해 주어, 구독자가 원하는 기사를 효율적으로 파악할 수 있게 하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 본 시스템은 파이썬 언어의 KoNLPy 패키지를 사용하여 기사의 단어들을 형태소 단위로 분석하며, 추출된 키워드를 토대로 워드 클라우드를 생성한다. 사용자가 클라우드의 특정 단어를 선택하면, 해당 신문기사들의 본문을 분석하여 각 신문 기사만의 핵심적인 문장을 3문장으로 출력해 준다.

We have developed a new PDP cell structure called MARI(Multi Anode for Reduction of Ionic effect) and new driving scheme achieving a high luminous efficacy. The MARI PDP has middle electrode inserted between X and Y main electrodes. In the MARI PDP, reset and scan voltage is applied to middle electrode and sustain voltage is applied to X and Y electrode. Using a long gap sustain discharge we accomplished a high luminous efficacy. And we developed 42"full panel adopting MARI structure and new driving scheme and attained luminous efficacy of 2.35 lm/W.

In assisted reproductive techniques, monozygotic twinning is not influenced by the trial of reducing the number of embryos transferred. We present extremely rare case of monochorionic triamniotic triplet pregnancy following in vitro fertilization and two-embryo transfer. During the first trimester, the crucial ultrasound findings of monochorionic triamniotic triplet pregnancy are three distinct amniotic sacs forming a triangle or ipsilon zone within a single chorionic cavity. After prudential counseling about the potential risk of a monochorionic triamniotic triplet pregnancy with the patient, selective reduction of two fetuses via radiofrequency ablation was performed. We report a case of selective reduction for monochorionic triamniotic triplet pregnancy using radiofrequency ablation at 12 weeks' gestation and obstetric progression after radiofrequency ablation was uneventful until 20 weeks' gestation.
