After entering into the WTO in October, 2001, China started opening her bank industry on a full scale and her financial markets from the end of 2006. It is true that the Chinese commercial banks should make efforts to enhance their operational efficiency for adapting the rapid change of financial environments. In this paper, the efficiency of 4 Chinese state-owned commercial banks and 11 share holding commercial banks has been estimated. Our Tobit model to find out the determinants of these banks' efficiency. The results are as follows: The efficiency of these banks kept being improved from 1999 to 2003. With regard to the relationship between the determinants and the bank efficiency, their capital ratios, ownership structures and government subsidies are significant at the 5% level while the return on asset(ROA) is significant at the 10% level. The relationship between the determinants and the efficiency has showed that the size, capital ratios, ROA and ownership structure showed significantly before the entry to WTO, on the other hand, after WTO their capital ratios are the only factor to determine their efficiencies.
This study used a non-parametric linear program, Data Envelopment Analysis to compare the efficiency of South Korean and Chinese banks from 2000 to 2008, which is said to be the reformation period of their financial structure. The sample banks were 10 commercial banks and 6 regional banks in Korea, and 4 state-owned commercial banks and 11 stock commercial banks in China. The main objective of our research is to compare their efficiency, as well as the changes in efficiency periodically according to the types of the banks. According to the periodical analysis, both of the countries showed steady increase in efficiency. This shows that finance restructure and merging were positive factors for bank's efficiency during the revolution of finance structure. The study showed that between Korea and China, the bank of Korea has higher efficiency than that of China. Although the reconstruction period happened around the same time, due to the earlier acceleration period to opening Korea's financial market, made the difference in efficiency.

The sample of this study consists on two countries listed bank sector Pakistan and China. The annul data is used from 2009-2018 to find the objective of this study. The Panel regression model is used to check the relationship between dependent and independent variables. Return on Asset and Return on Equity is used as performance checker dependent variables. The results of this study confirm board size coefficient value positive for ROA and negative for ROE but shows insignificant behavior for Pakistani banking sector while in Chinese banking sector the coefficient value of board size positively for ROA and ROE at 10% level. The board composition coefficient shows the negatively significant with ROA but insignificantly related to ROE for Pakistani banking sector. However, in Chinese banking sector the coefficient value of board composition is insignificant for both ROA and ROE. This study is helpful for banks, management of banks, policy makers, researcher as well as Government.
China has been experiencing high economic growth along with massive change in its industrial structure. How will the industrial structure change affect the Chinese economy? Similar changes were observed by Japan, when the Japanese banking system fell into a structural failure in terms of the inability to respond to the paradigm shift from "catching up" to "frontier economy." This paper is undertaken to highlight the lessons that China can learn from Japan's prolonged financial slump. We point out that big cities in China have already shifted to frontier economy and major provinces are on the same trend. We argue that in spite of economic reform reshaping the Chinese banking system, the financing pattern of state owned commercial banks (SOCB) is not in line with the industrial change. The Chinese banking system should be overhauled or transformed to respond to the increasing uncertainty along with the paradigm shift. Otherwise, China may fall into the same dilemma that Japan had faced in its industrial structure change.
The objective of this study was to empirically analyze how Chinese urban residents use mortgage loan in their purchase of houses. For the research purpose, 205 households were surveyed on use of housing finance in Beijing, using prepared questionnaires in advance. The survey result showed that 39.5% of the respondents used mortgage loan in their housing purchase in Beijing. Most of the mortgage loan users got their loans from four state-owned commercial banks. This implies that the government could effectively govern the housing market by managing qualifications and interest rates under the government control. The households who did not use mortgage loan raised the fund mostly from own capital and their parents' money. In general, it was found that the Chinese, besides mortgage loan from commercial banks, rarely depend on outside sources. The dichotomous logistic analysis by logit model showed that socio-economic variables such as age, income, housing price and entry into the housing provident fund had significantly positive effects on the use of mortgage loan in the purchase of housing.
The purpose of this study is to examine how perceived service quality, value congruence influences uncertainty avoidance, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, and in turn, provides insight for Korean banks when they penetrate into the Chinese marketplace. In so doing, this study conducts a survey on participants who are using banking services in the Changchun, Jinan, Guangzhou of Jilin Province, Shandong Province and Guangdong Province. The findings are as followed. First, Uncertainty avoidance plays an important mediating role in the relationship between perceived service quality and customer satisfaction, between value congruence and customer satisfaction. Uncertainty avoidance has a direct effect on customer satisfaction, but is significantly negative. Second, value congruence has a direct effect on uncertainty avoidance, but is significantly negative. Third, customer satisfaction has a direct effect on attitudinal loyalty and behavioral loyalty.
The economic growth of China, an average of 9% as an external performance, has caused lots of side effects in the country. The social issues such as income gap, especially the wide gap between the rich and poor, and regional divide are the main cause of concerns that China's economic growth is not sustainable. It prompted the Chinese government to realize that institutional regulations on CSR are not optional but required to promote the sustainable development of corporations. In 2006, CSR was addressed for the first time in China, as the government established the November 5 Plan and revised "Company Law". The government garnered social attention by introducing CSR for the first time in November 5 Plan. Also, the government established December 5 Plan in 2011 to set a key goal as 'sustainable development' and reflect concrete measures for CSR in its corporate policy. In particular, Commercial Bank has a social responsibility to establish more concrete, forceful regulations than those of general corporations, as a financial intermediary. Thus, this study is aimed at exploring how the social responsibility of Commercial Bank is reflected in the Banking Act, the issues, and legislative directions on the social responsibility of Commercial Bank in China.
In China, the commercial bank credit financing is the most important external financing channel for SMEs. However, the lack of credit guarantee significantly deters commercial banks to finance SMEs. which may generate a negative impact on the trade activities of SME in China. In this paper we examine the risk of credit guarantee for SMEs financing and the factors affecting this risk through a VAR (Value-at-Risk) model. Our analysis shows that the scale of enterprises' impact on the VAR (risk of financing guarantee) is not much relevant. We also find that the certainty of financing for SMEs, such as the fixed asset ratio, has a significant and negative effect on the VAR of Chinese credit guarantee institutions. The product uniqueness is positively correlated with the VAR, and operation risk is also positively related to the credit risk of Chinese credit guarantee institutions.
