The Present and Prospect of China IT industry

  • China has been aware of the urgent need of developing electronic and information industry in order to improve its productivity. Since 1991, IT industry has been one of the main factors to influence China's economic growth. In the results of the efforts to develop its IT industry, China has achieved average 25% yearly growth rate of IT manufacturing industry since 1991. We will take a look at haw the main IT products' performances was, how the role of IT industry was in China economy and in China's trade and how the prospect of China IT industry will be. However, we need to know that, depending an the different areas, the environment of the China's IT industry will be quite different. In China, the east coastal area has the better environment of technology, menpower, infrastructure, and fund for the development of IT industry and the IT industry of this area is very competitive, comparing with the middle and west area.

  • China draws lots of attention from many multinational corporations all over the world as one of the biggest market in the world. Due to the huge territory and explosive population, it is considered that China has endless potentiality. Moreover, since China joined the WTO, China opens its market, developing the policies for opening of its market. Based on the enormous purchasing power, China gets another attention in industry of electronic commerce. With the development and expansion of information technologies, China's electronic commerce has rapidly developed. Since the market of electronic commerce in China is in the developing stage, there is still a big market for electronic commerce and also Chinese government has made much effort in order to develop the industry of electronic commerce. However, in spite of these circumstances, the Chinese electronic commerce industry is far behind the developed countries. There could be many reasons for slow development in industry of electronic commerce and the main purpose of this paper is to discuss these reasons. First of all, the current status of electronic commerce industry in China will be analysed, and then, main problems of electronic commerce industry will be discussed in order to find out the reasons why the industry of electronic commerce cannot develop as much as it is anticipated. It is expected that this paper can contribute to understanding electronic commerce industry in China, and it will be helpful for companies which have a plan to extend their businesses in China.

The Qualitative Trade Competitiveness of China in IT Industry: A Comparison to Korea and USA

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trade structure and competitiveness of China's information technology (IT) industry in comparison to that of Korea and the United States, particularly in terms of quality. Design/methodology/approach - Indices such as trade specialization index (TSI), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Market Comparative Advantage (MCA) are used. Further, an Intra-industry Trade (IIT) index is used to analyze qualitative changes in horizontal intra-industry trade and intra-industry trade of high- and low-quality goods. Findings - China's IT industry has a comparative competitive advantage over that of Korea and the United States, and mainly exports goods of inferior quality and imports goods of superior quality. Further, China's horizontal intra-industry trade has been decreasing, while its vertical intra-industry trade has been increasing and vertical trade of inferior quality goods outweighs that of superior quality goods. This shows that China is rapidly catching up with Korea and the United States, even though its qualitative competitiveness has not significantly improved. Research limitations/implication - This study has academic and political implications, as it analyzes changes in China's IT trade competitiveness. However, it is somewhat limited as factors determining qualitative aspects has not been considered. Originality/value - Most studies aggregate analyses of export competitiveness using methodologies such as TSI, RCA, and market share. However, the focus of these methods is price competitiveness. Hence, an examination of the objective and qualitative trade competitiveness of China's IT industry is necessary. this study the trade structure and quantitative competitiveness of the industry by analyzing intra-industry trade focusing on the quality of competitiveness. Therefore, the changes in China's IT industry in the USA and Korea and in foreign trade competitiveness and quality competitiveness are clarified. The results show that the academic and policy implications of these changes in the IT industry will be a useful resource. This is the first study in Korea to attempt such an analysis.   • China's Marine Industry are growing up gradually as China's economy has advanced. Also China's Sipping Industry has been advanced. China Sipping Company is going to become a top 5 of world marine industry. China's Marine Industry has supervised and controled a manager under the mechanism of market economy. China's Marine Industry has been changed from the state-owned marine enterprise affected by government and government has effected on the formation of the board of directors and manager. So, the supervision function of the board of directors was reduced. The executive' role is emphasized when possessing the state-owned enterprise through disposal or auction, or when inducing the participation of foreign attraction. It is desirable for the Chinese director and officer to prepare for the claims internationally due to the international economic actions, , westernization of the public's consciousness about the compensation for damage followed by the increasing national income, and to prepare the increasing demand of cases due to increasing lawyers.

  • China has witnessed tremendous changes especially in the field of packaging industry after the reform and opening policy commencing in early 1979. Thanks to the reform and opening policy by Deng Xiaoping, a former leader of China, packaging industry has been selected as one of the specialized industries, and this policy has made great achievements in the field of packaging. The total volume of packaging industry now ranks the first in the overall industry in China and this indicates that this industry is taking a great role to bust up economic growth of China. In this paper, The facts and forecasts of packaging industry and education in China are introduced.

  • Since 2003, the biggest trade partner of South Korea has not been America but China. China appears to be a strong competitor of South Korea in every field of international market and even in IT industry, which has been one of the most competitive field of Korean Economy. IT Industry is now becoming a driving locomotive of economy in South Korea and China. It is reported that the IT gap between South Korea and China is shorten to be 1.7 years in 2006, from 2.6 years in 2003 and will be within one year in 2010. China has been aware of the urgent need of developing electronic and information industry in order to improve its productivity. In the results of the efforts to develop its IT industry, China has achieved average 25% yearly growth rate of IT manufacturing industry since 1991. Since 2004, South Korea has pursued IT 839 strategy. How South Korea and China can sustain the continuous development of IT industry. South Korea IT is expected to utilize China's through the mutual cooperation, which results in mutual benefit. To achieve the mutually benefited cooperation and specially to result in Small & Medium sized Korean companies' cooperation with China's, China is expected to improve the market system and create an environment of admitting intellectual property.

  • The purpose of this article is to suggest what is the desirable direction of economic relationship between Korea and China. The economic relationship between countries is based on how the present network is. As the economic relationship between countries grows, the network between countries will expand. In the past, the economic relationship between Korea and China is cooperative one from the viewpoint of international division of labor. Korean industries was focused on the value-added and mid-advanced technology products, while Chinese was focused on the labor-intensive products. As the China's economy grows for more than thirty years, there is a great change in China's economic policies and environment. China's industry structure is moving from the labor-intensive industry to technology-oriented industry. China's exports to the global market is increasing very fast, and China's domestic market is also growing. The change in Chinese industries' structure bring about severe competition in the global market. The expanding China's domestic market is also good opportunity as the new market in the world. The change in China's industrial structure needs for Korea to establish the 'New Network" between two countries. Korea has to grab the new opportunities in the China's domestic market and find new cooperative network with the products and industries.

A study on the policy of Korean Cultural Industry

  • Purpose - This research, based on the successful experience of Korea, especially of Korea government, which, though promulgating laws and making policies, plays an rather pivotal role in Korea cultural industry development process, in developing cultural industry, explores possibly successful path and pattern that is suitable for China cultural industry. Research design, data, and Methodology - The study conducted a survey on Korea's 2000-2011 year data. After empirically analyzing the data, we believe that cultural industry in Korea and China will maintain its growth momentum. Results - This study shows that China and Korea are both belong to the only cultural circle of Confucianism and Chinese character, therefore, to research the successful experience of Korea government in cultural industry development will do much good to better promoting the optimal development of China cultural industry. China can encourage private flow to take on enterprises. In terms of financing, diversification can be achieved, by the means of cash, land, intangible assets, technology, stock, bond, cultural lottery etc. Conclusions - Besides, to better the degree of the internationalization of the allocation of the cultural resources, China government can, under the condition that Chinese laws permit, encourage foreign capital to invest in Chinese cultural industry field.
