  • The container throughput of China, after the joining in the WTO, has begun to increase notably. As a result, China is busy building new ports continuously. In accordance with China's situation Korea promote the development plans of ports and marketing strategy to attract the increasing cargo traffics with China, including transhipment cargoes. To build the competition strategy and the panning port for trading cargoes with China, an analysis on origin/destination is necessary. The cargo volume from/to the particular port(Korea/China) and origin/destination of traffic are important factors in the requirement for the port development. Therefore, in the era that trading with China is rapidly increasing, this study is performed to analyze the port's usage of transporting the cargos and the origin/destination of trading cargoes with china. • The purpose of this research is to suggest the activation plan of Busan port. In the past years, Busan port enjoyed the golden days because of the China's rapid economic growth. But China's continuous development of ports, the trend of increasing container ship size and increasing direct call to China are coming threats to Busan port. So Korea needs to revise the 'Northeast Logistics Hub' strategy because it is considered that Korea ports continuously will handle China's transshipment cargoes. But now China's transshipment cargo share has decreased by direct call to China ports. It means that China has a lot of its local cargoes, so many ship companies change liner service route to handle China cargoes except Bussan ports although Busan port is included in the main trunk route. In the future, Bussan port will not be able to compete again about throughput with China ports if Busan port's transshipment cargo share decreases. So we must find out and develop Busan port's strength which is the competitive edge. By good luck, Busan port has a few opportunities such as the developed feeder network service and geographical advantages. Busan port has many feeder network service like spider's web in any northeast countries so we can suggest that if Japanese shippers use Busan port to distribute their cargoes to Japanese local areas, its transport costs are cheaper than when they use Japan's main ports. In this paper analyzed side of cost when they use Bussan port like hub to distribute their cargo to their local areas. Because most companies tried to reduce the total cost about logistics. Finally, this paper suggests when northeast shippers(China, Japan) use Bussan port which is more economical than their local main ports.

At this point Pyeongtaek Dangjin port which has potency as China trading port confronts with turning point of port development as new port. To this, correct need grasping of North China shippers is important strategic element of PyeongTaek Dangjin Port activation. In this study, there is purpose to present Pyeongtaek Port's activation strategy by grasping customer needs executing questionnaire to China local company about Pyeongtaek Dangjin Port. As a research result, Pyeongtaek Dangjin Port possesses high geographical strength but has problems like development delay, tribe of various route, absence of marketing strategy. To solve this problem, this paper proposes expansion of port and logistics physical distribution equipment, improvement of services, foundation of joint logistics center, establishment of marketing organization etc. Namely, it may overcome only new port's limitation though develop to port of cargo creation style that is not simple cargo dependence style port.

  • As China, the world's work shop was transformed into consumption market intermediary products and expensive consumer goods are more in highly demand recently. These will tend to diffuse especially to the west coastal cities of China. The economic growth of China needs to develop hub port facilities more and more in these days. We don't need to explain value of hub port in international trade. Furthermore If we are to retain access convenience of merchant vessel we really must maintain hub ports in Korea. This paper aims to vitalize Pyeongtaek port in times of the Pan Yellow Sea in readiness for an increase of trade between Korean, China, and Japan absorbing economic effects. The Rise of China leads to increase of trade of Korea that make necessary to develop a big and wide port to Pan Yellow Sea times. There is a lot of competition to be a hub port to become a center of international trade in the Pan Yellow Sea market. We need to improve the surrounding environment or facilities and industry clusters flexibly of Pyeongtaek port. It will guide to cost cutting and to raise business efficiency. Ultimately Pyeongtaek port should maintain and make advance its competitiveness especially in the Pan Yellow Sea times.

  • The 'One Belt One Road (OBOR)' initiative, which was promulgated as part of the enlargement policy along with the advent of Xi Jinping in 2013, is a policy to expand China's political and economic power externally through linkages with neighboring countries. China's overseas port investment plays an important role in the promotion of the 'OBOR' policy from the coast of China through maritime transportation routes from S.E Asia to Mediterranean and Europe. Since China's overseas port investment has been made from several factors such as political, economic, and military motives, it differs in purpose and character from investments made by private companies, such as Global Port Operators(GTO) which consider profitability first. This study aims to address future prospects and implications by analyzing the geopolitics of China's overseas port investment under the 'One Belt One Road' initiative. According to the results, China's overseas port investment is dominated by state-owned enterprises and political and security factors are more important than profitability. China's overseas port investment has been on a large scale in a short period of time, and China has faced with various problems both domestically and internationally. such as debt default, environmental problems, subordination problems from recipient countries and political and military confrontation with great countries such as United States, Japan and India etc.

  • Recently, amount of cargoes from main ports in Northeast Asia have rapidly increased and as well surplus port development in same region corresponded with the boom in external trade that resulted from successful export-oriented economics strategy by China, Japan and South Korea. To cope with this business circumstances, a certain form of port alliance is desperately needed to provide a suitable service to customer and establish their countervailing power against the shipping alliance. Nevertheless, Incheon seaport has not made a definite port alliance system with main ports in Northern China yet. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the key success factors to form a port alliance through examining previous studies. We have benchmarked previous studies which are related to main ports in global region and the questionnaire on customers of ports. By studying this, we are able to suggest a few strategies for forming successful port alliance to enhance Incheon port's capabilities in the long term plan. As a policy proposal, this study suggests Incheon port and main ports in Northern China should construct a logistics infrastructure through mutual investment and provide an incentive system when the ocean carrier makes port call to both ports.

  • With the rapid development of global economic and trade, the ports in the North-east Asia region have developed rapidly. Ocean shipping plays an irreplaceable role in China's foreign trade. Improvement of China's economy and continuous increase of trade in North-East Asia have made China as the number one in the world in container transport. Tianjin port which is the biggest international trade port in North-east China. Tianjin Binhai New District has incorporated in (CPC Central Committee on the outline of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development proposals) which had adopted by The Fifth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee. However, the competitions between ports are getting intense, the construction of Northeast Asia shipping center is in the ascendant, which bring new opportunity and challenge to the development of Tianjin port logistics.
