Objective: The aim of this study was to find about relation between Chiljung(七情) and chronic recurrent abdominal pain in children. Methods: It was surveyed the oriental medical book concerning Chiljung(七情) and western medical book concerning Chronic recurrent abdominal pain. Results: Chronic recurrent abdominal pain which is common disorder in children is mostly functional abdominal pain due to stress. The Stress can be defined as spiritual factor which lead to imbalance of body homeostasis in medicine. In oriental medicine, it is considered as Chiljung(七情) disorder. The gastrointestinal disease due to stress are peptic ulcer, chronic gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic abdominal pain, vomitting etc. In oriental medicine pathology mechanism, it is considered as discord with liver and spleen, depression of spleen-energy. It comes within the category of depression. Children with chronic recurrent abdominal pain is dependent on parents and they have an introspective nature, compulsive idea which is intolerable for failure.

Objectives : One's mind turned over by environment and personal relationship is Emotion. Emotion is composed by several basic feelings. This basic feeling is called Chiljung in Oriental Medicine. This study is confirmed difference of Chiljung by Constitution. Methods : 80 persons of Oriental medicine university students were tested by Qustionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II(QSCCII) and Thematic Apperception Test(TAT). Constitution is distinguished by QSCCII. 11 pieces picture of TAT were showed one minute and then had person to discribe one's feelings. Two data were analyzed by statistical analysis. Results : Result is as follows, tested TAT about expression of inherent basic emotion. 1. It has relations with cognitive thought process 2. Expression of Chiljung has some relations with constitution and personal trait. Conclusion : Chiljung of inherent basic emotion is cognitive and has difference between constitutions by TAT.

This study has been carried out to investigate the influences that Chiljung(七情) exert upon the liver system, and Spleen-Stomach functions. In oriental medicine regard stress as Chiljung(七情). No(怒), among the Chiljungs(七情) is a Shinji(神志) that the primary factors to develop the Kan(肝)s pathological process. The stress stimulates Hypothalamic Corticotpopin Releasing Center. This is why gastrin is more released than normal limit. It is caused disfunction of stomach. In result of No(怒), KanJuSoSeol(肝主疏泄)cannot do it's function. It results that KanKiBeomYi(肝氣犯胃) and KanKiSuingBi(肝氣乘脾) KanKiBeomYi caused to AiKi(曖氣), TanSan(呑酸), KanKiSuingBi caused to abdominal pain, diarrhea. In this point of view, It is important to take emotional stability, and escape from all this stress.
