Repair of Seonjingang Bridge in Namhae Highway Route Deteriorated by Chloride Attack (남해고속도로 섬진강교 내염보수공사 시공)

  • Corrosion of reinforced concrete structures in marine environment is one of the most important mechanisms of deterioration. Under Korean highway bridge, the time for the steel reinforcement in the concrete to exhibit initial signs of corrosion is within three decades. Therefore, 'SUM JIN' highway bridge, located in a corrosive marine environment on the south of Korea, had been examined the current condition of the steel reinforcement corrosion in concrete by half-cell potentials, chloride contamination of concrete and so on. According to the tests, the protecting film around the reinforcement is deteriorated and corrosion activity developed in tidal zone. The purpose of this paper is to report the effects of 'SUM JIN' highway bridge damaged by chlodide attack and to present the results of repair of 'SUM JIN' highway concrete bridge in domestic marine environment.

  • This paper reports results of a study conducted to assess the effect of degree of corrosion of reinforcing steel bar on their mechanical properties. Reinforcing steel bars, 13mm in diameter, that were corroded by electrically accelerated corrosion method in concrete specimens were removed and tested in tension. Results indicated that the level of reinforcement corrosion influenced yield point, the tensile strength and elongation of steel bars.

  • In this study, various fundamental experiments including durability and time-dependent deformation are performed to compile a database for a utilization of high-strength concrete for PSC bridges. In the mix design, concrete strength at early age when prestressing forces are introduced to the PSC member and slumpflow suitable for pumping of concrete are considered to make a concrete fit for PSC bridges. The main parameters investigated are the kinds and replacement ratios of mineral admixtures and low-heat cement. Experimental tests on durability include penetration of chloride ions, freezing-thawing, combined deterioration, and simple adiabatic temperature rise test. In addition, time-dependent deformation such as creep, drying and autogenous shrinkage, which is particularly important factor in the design and construction of PSC bridges, is tested and analyzed.

  • Many researches have been carried out on development of high-strength concrete, but most researches have been focused on building structures such as a high-rise building. However today, the demand of high-strength concrete for civil structures like a PSC bridge is increasing steadily. In addition, the current design code based on experimental results of normal strength concrete needs to be modified for high-strength concrete structures. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a research on mechanical properties and mix proportion of high-strength concrete suitable for PSC bridges. The primary purpose of this study was to develop the high-strength concrete mixtures which can be applied to PSC bridges and to evaluate mechanical properties of high-strength concrete.

  • A study of the precipitation process of Al-Li binary alloy at low ageing temperature has been carried by electrical resistivity measurement. Two types of G.P.zones were formed during ageing at low temperature. G.P. (1) zone and G.P. (2) zone have been formed primarily at ageing temperature below $60^{\circ}C$ and at ageing temperature range of $80^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$, respectively. Therefore the precipitation process of Al-Li binary alloy was as follows; G.P.(1) zone ${\rightarrow}$ G.P.(2) zone ${\rightarrow}{\delta}^{\prime}{\rightarrow}{\delta}$ G.P. (1) zone might be affected by excess vacancies, but G.P. (2) zone might be affected by secondary defects. clusters and Li-vacancy pairs. The activation energy for formation of G.P. (2) zone is 0.87eV. It is lower than that of Al-Cu alloy.

  • Trace anions in high-sulfate wastewater from mainly derelict mines were determined by ion chromatography with on-line preconcentration and preelution technique. As the sample was preconcentrated and more strongly held ions were preeluted to the principal separation system, this approach was highly effective in removing large concentration of sulfate in high-sulfate wastewater. With this practical on-line preelution treatment, the peaks of fluoride and chloride showed good resolution even when the sulfate concentration was as high as 2000 mg/L and the analyzed total metal concentration was above 500 mg/L.

  • Pain arising from disorders of the viscera and somatic structures within the pelvis and perineum is a frequent cause of discomfort and disability, especially among women. Recently, blockade of the ganglion impar(ganglion of Walther) has been introduced as an alternative means of managing intractable perineal pain of sympathetic origin. The first report of interruption of the ganglion impar for relief of perineal pain appeared in 1990. We successfully treated a patient who had suffered from intermittent severe coccygodynia with ganglion impar block.

  • With the species composition table, the forest community of Mt. Yeonginsan were classified into Quercus mongolica community, Pinus densiflora community, and Quercus acutissima community. The importance value of the study community was 73.55, 36.28, 29.87, 25.07, 24.88, and 21.25 in Quercus mongolica, Quercus serrata, Pinus densiflora, Pinus rigida, Larix leptolepis, and Quercus acutissima, respectively. According to breast diameter analysis, the importance value of Quercus mongolica, Quercus acutissima and Quercus serrata continuously increase.
