  • To realize highly selective recognition of oxalate in water, a new chemosensing ensemble that behaves highly selective colorimetric recognition of oxalate in water at pH 7.4 has been developed. The ensemble was constructed by a pyrrole containing mononuclear copper complex and chromeazurol S. The ensemble shows a highly selective recognition of oxalate through an obvious color change from blue to yellow upon the addition of oxalate, whereas, other dicarboxylates such as malonate, succinate, fumarate, maleate, glutarate, adipate, phthalate, isophthalate and terephthalate do not induce any noticeable color changes. The oxalate recognition process is not significantly affected by other coexisting dicarboxylate.

  • Two new chemosensors 1 and 2 derived from 5,12- and 5,7-dioxocyclams were prepared and their signaling behaviors toward transition metal ions were investigated. Chemosensors 1 and 2 showed very efficient responses toward $Cu_{2+}$ and $Hg_{2+}$ ions. Ratiometric analysis of the fluorescence changes in pyrene monomer and excimer emissions clearly demonstrated the $Cu_{2+}$- and $Hg_{2+}$-selective signaling behavior. The signaling mechanism of the chemosensors is due to conformation changes upon complexation with metal ions and the inherent quenching nature of the complexed $Cu_{2+}$ and $Hg_{2+}$ ions themselves.

  • We synthesized new dye sensor based on indole compound. Through the UV-vis absorptions, we analyzed chemosensing properties to explain metal binding properties. The peak absorptions increased at 472 nm when added metal cations($Cd^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Hg^{2+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$ and $Cr^{3+}$) and gradually decreased the peak at 516 nm. Thus, this UV-Vis absorption behavior clearly showed the metal binding reaction. To measure energy level of used dye sensor, HOMO/LUMO energy value was calculated with cyclovaltagramm(CV) and using computational calculation method, in which we estimated the optimum structure of dye sensor. CV and computational calculation method, both compared to find suitable geometric structure. (with almost same energy values.) From the computational calculation, dye sensor has plane structure. So, Amine and ketone in the dye sensor faced each other and makes position to bind metal cations. In addition, these positions was supported pull-push electron system and generated MLCT process, when the dye sensor was bonded with the metal cations and resulted chemosensing properties. Through the electrochemical and computational calculation method analyze, we proposed the chemosensing principles that the dye sensor bind the metal cation between ketone and amine. Finally, the formation type of metal ion bindings was determined by Job's plot measurements.

  • A diazatetrathia crown ether derivative that has two appended nitrobenzoxadiazolyl moieties showed selective OFF-ON type fluoroionophoric signaling properties toward Hg2+ ions over other transition metal ions. The compound also exhibited a pronounced chromogenic behavior toward Hg2+ ions by changing the solution color from light orange to yellow, which can easily be detected with naked-eye. The detection limit for the analysis of Hg2+ ions in 90% aqueous acetonitrile was found to be 4.8??10-6 M, which suggests that the compound may be used as a chemosensor for analyzing sub-millimolar Hg2+ ions in aqueous environments.

  • A simple dye having phenol and indole moieties was synthesized and its chromogenic signaling behaviors for the determination of water content in organic solvents were investigated. The compound revealed a pronounced chromogenic behavior in response to the variation of water content in water miscible aprotic organic solvents of acetone, acetonitrile, THF, and dioxane. Significant red shifts and changes in absorption spectra allowed a ratiometric analysis of the signaling behavior. The chemosensing behaviors were particularly pronounced in water content in less than 10% that is suitable for the application of the compound as a probe for the determination of water content in binary aqueous organic solutions having lower water content.

  • Studies on attractive color changing property of dye chromophore and fluorophore have been greatly enjoyed in the related industrial and research fields such as optoelectronics, chemosensor, biosensor and so on. The optical property based on D-$\Pi$-A intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) system of chromophore molecules can be utilized as suitable sensing probes for checking media polarity and determining colorimetric chemosensing effect, especially heavy metal detection. These finding are obtained by absorption and emission properties. In this work, donor-acceptor D-$\Pi$-A type fluorescent dyes were designed and synthesized with the corresponding donor and acceptor groups. The selected donor moieties might be provided prominent amorphous properties which are very useful in designing and synthesizing functional polymers and in fabricating devices. Another reasons to choose are commercial availabilities in high purity and low price. Donor-bridge-acceptor (D-A) type dyes can produce impressive optical-physical properties, yielding them potentially suitable for applications in the synthesis of small functional organic molecules. Small organic functional molecules have unique advantages, such as better solubility, amorphous character, and represent an area of research which needs to be explored and developed. Currently, their applications in metalorganic compounds is rapidly expanding and becoming widespread in self-assembly processes, photoluminescence applications, chiral organocatalysts, and ingrafts with nanomaterials. Colloidal nanoparticles have received great attentions in recent years. The photophysical properties of nanoparticles, particularly in terms of brightness, photostability, emission color purity and broad adsorption range, are very attractive functions in many applications. To our knowledge background, colloidal nanoparticles have been enjoyed their applications in bio-probe research fields. This research interest can be raised by the advantages of the materials such as high photoluminescence quantum yields, sharp emission band, long-term photostability and broad excitation spectra. In recent, the uses of nanoparticles being embedded in a polymer matrix and binded on polymer surface have been explored and their properties such as photo-activation and strong photoluminescence have been proposed. The prepared chromophores and nanoparticles were investigated with absorption and emission properties, solvatochromic behaviors, pH induced color switching effects, chemosensing effects and HOMO/LUMO energy potentials with computer simulation. In addition, synthesized fluorophore dyes and particles were applied onto PE/Aramid fiber fluorescing colorations. And the related details were then discussed.

  • Cyclic nucleotide-gated (CNG) channels encoded by the tax-4 and tax-2 genes are required for chemosensing and thermosensing in the nematode C. elegans. We identified a gene in the C. elegans genome, which we designated cng-1, that is highly homologous to tax-4. Partial CNG-1 protein tagged with green fluorescent protein was expressed in several sensory neurons of the amphid. We created a deletion mutant of cng-1, cng-1 (jh111), to investigate its in vivo function. The mutant worms had no detectable abnormalities in terms of their basic behavior or morphology. Whereas tax-4 and tax-2 mutants failed to respond to water-soluble or volatile chemical attractants, the cng-1 null mutant exhibited normal chemotaxis to such chemicals and a tax-4;cng-1 double mutant had a similar phenotype to tax-4 single mutants. Interestingly, cng-1 and tax-4 had a synergistic effect on brood size.

  • A new phosphorescent cyclometalated heteroleptic iridium (III) complex with an ancillary ligand of 4-azacrownpicolinate was prepared and its metal ion selective phosphorescent chemosensing behavior was investigated. The new iridium (III) complex exhibits notable phosphorescence quenching for Hg2+ in aqueous 50% acetonitrile solution with respect to the selective phosphorescent detection of various metal ions including $Li^+,Na^+,K^+,Cs^+,Mg^{2+},Ca^{2+},Ba^{2+},Fe^{2+},Ni^{2+},Cu^{2+},Zn^{2+},Ag^+,Pb^{2+},Cd^{2+},Cr^{2+},Cr^{3+}$ and $Hg^{2+}$. The phosphorescence quenching for $Hg^{2+}$ increased linearly with increasing concentration of $Hg^{2+}$ in the range of $10{\mu}M-700{\mu}M$ even in the presence of other metal ions, except for $Cu^{2+}$. Consequently, the new iridium (III) complex has the potential to be utilized for the determination of parts per million levels of $Hg^{2+}$ in aqueous acetonitrile media.
