국내 담수퇴적물의 CODsed 분석방법 평가: CODMn법과 CODCr법의 신뢰성 및 상관성 비교 (Evaluation of CODsed Analytical Methods for Domestic Freshwater Sediments: Comparison of Reliability and Correlationship between CODMn and CODCr Methods)

  • In Korea, the chemical oxygen demand($COD_{sed}$) in freshwater sediments has been measured by the potassium permanganate method used for marine sediment because of the absence of authorized analytical method. However, this method has not been fully verified for the freshwater sediment. Therefore, the use or modification of the potassium permanganate method or the development of the new $COD_{sed}$ analytical method may be necessary. In this study, two modified $COD_{sed}$ analytical methods such as the modified potassium permanganate method for $COD_{Mn}$ and the modified closed reflux method using potassium dichromate for $COD_{Cr}$ were compared. In the preliminary experiment to estimate the capability of the two oxidants for glucose oxidation, $COD_{Mn}$ and $COD_{Cr}$ were about 70% and 100% of theoretical oxygen demand(ThOD), respectively, indicating that $COD_{Cr}$ was very close to the ThOD. The effective titration ranges in $COD_{Mn}$ and $COD_{Cr}$ were 3.2 to 7.5 mL and 1.0 to 5.0 mL for glucose, 4.3 to 7.5 mL and 1.4 to 4.3 mL for lake sediment, and 2.5 to 5.8 mL and 3.6 to 4.5 mL for river sediment, respectively, within 10% errors. For estimating $COD_{sed}$ recovery(%) in glucose-spiked sediment after aging for 1 day, the mass balances of the $COD_{Mn}$ and $COD_{Cr}$ among glucose, sediments and glucose-spiked sediments were compared. The recoveries of $COD_{Mn}$ and $COD_{Cr}$ were 78% and 78% in glucose-spiked river sediments, 91% and 86% in glucose-spiked lake sediments, 97% and 104% in glucose-spiked sand, and 134% and 107% in glucose-spiked clay, respectively. In conclusion, both methods have high confidence levels in terms of analytical methodology but show significant different $COD_{sed}$ concentrations due to difference in the oxidation powers of the oxidants.

환경기준으로서의 TOC에 대한 활용성 평가 - 낙동강수계 호소를 대상으로 - (Availability Evaluation of TOC as the Environmental Standard - Survey of Lakes in Nakdong River Basin -)

  • 상수용, 농업용 등으로 사용되고 있는 낙동강수계의 30개소 호소를 대상으로 새로운 환경기준인 TOC(총유기탄소, Total organic carbon)의 활용성을 평가하였다. 적극적인 수자원의 이용은 양호한 수질을 확보하는 것으로 시작된다. 이는 사람과 자연에게 질적 안정성을 유지할 수 있게 하므로 양호한 수질 확보를 위해 수질기준은 보다 엄격하게 강화되고 있다. 생활환경 중 호소의 유기물질 오염수준을 개선하는 데에는 적절한 유기물질 지표의 활용성이 중요하다. 대상호소에서는 새로 도입된 TOC와 기존에 사용하던 COD(화학적산소요구량, Chemical oxygen demand)간의 상호성이 양의 관계로 나타났는데 이는 TOC의 COD 대체가능성을 의미한다. 그러나 TOC를 활용한 환경기준의 등급이 COD를 활용한 환경기준의 등급보다 더 양호한 것으로 나타나 TOC를 유기물질인자로 이용한 수질등급 수준이 완화된 것과 동일한 효과를 지니게 된다. 이것은 호소의 유기물질 지표를 활용하여 질적 수준을 판단하거나 개선하고자 할 때에 기존의 COD에 직접적으로 대체하기에 TOC의 한계를 나타내는 것이다. 따라서 호소의 질적 안전성을 확보하기 위해서는 수질등급 면에서 TOC의 환경기준 강화가 요구된다. 또 호소의 이용특성에 따라 TOC와 COD간의 상관성에도 큰 차이를 나타내고 있다. 이에 대한 명확한 과학적 규명이 필요하며, 이를 위해 호소의 유기물질 지표의 축적에 기존에 사용하던 COD의 지속적인 모니터링이 요구된다.

대청호 유역의 수질 변동특성 및 상관성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Variation Characteristics and Correlationships of Water Quality in Daecheong Lake Basin)

  • This study was performed to analyze the variation characteristics of writer qulity, correlation analysis of water quality data at each site and among the items of water Quality data. Water quality for analysis was monthly values of water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, suspended solid, 7-N and T-P checked in Daecheong Lake from January to December, 1995. It was analyzed variation of monthly water qulity was well from February to April, water temperature and COD seemed to have high correlationships at all sites. Regression equation is COD = 0.07 Water temperature +1.23 ($R^2$: 0.7616) . Results of the correlation analysis of water quality data showed that DO had high correlationships between site 1 and site 2, BOD did site 1 and 3, COD did site 1 and 2, 55 did site 5 and 6, 7-N did 2 and 3, 7-P did site 4 and 6. Regression equations for estimate of water quality data are as follows. $DO_1$=4.46+0.59 DO, ($R^2$=0.8868), $BOD_1$ = 0, 52+0.63 BOD3 ($R^2$ = 0.6390) $COD_2$ = 0.44+0.71 $COD_1$ ($R^2$ = 0.9183), SS6 = 0.89+0.7055.($R^2$ = 0.9155) $TN_3$ = 0.151 +0.886 $TN_2$ ($R^2$ = 0.9415), $TP_4$ = 0.004+5.758 $TP_6$ ($R^2$ = 0.9669)

퍼지 적분을 이용한 금강지천의 수질오염 평가 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Evaluation System of Water Quality for Branches of Geum River Using Fuzzy Integral)

  • 퍼지 적분을 이용하여 금강지천의 수질 오염을 평가하는 새로운 시스템을 연구하였다. 이 논문은 BOD(biochemical oxygen demand, 생물학적인 산소 요구량), COD(chemical oxygen demand, 화학적인 산소요구량), SS(suspended solids, 부유물질), T-N(total nitrogen, 총질소), T-P(total phosphorus, 총인)의 다섯 가지의 수질 오염 평가 항목에 대한 자료를 기반으로 하였다. 퍼지 적분의 측량은 수질 오염이 어떤 요소의 의존 정도에 따라 결정지어진다. 척도들 간의 측정치를 평가하여 금강의 지천을 [0,1]사이에 분포하도록 정규화 시켰다. 퍼지 적분을 이용하여 금강의 지천에 수질 오염 척도를 정량적으로 나타내었다. 결론적으로 금강의 지천에 수질의 오염 정도를 새로운 시스템으로 평가하는 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

가막만의 COD 거동 및 분포 특성 평가를 위한 생태계 모델링 (Ecological modeling for estimation of a transport and distribution of COD in Kamak Bay)

  • The three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamic model was applied to estimate the physical process in terms of COD (chemical oxygen demand) and net supply(or decomposition) rate of COD in Kamak Bay to find proper management plan for oxygen demanding organic matters. The estimation results of the physical process in terms of COD showed that transportation of COD is dominant in surface level while accumulation of COD is dominant in bottom level. In the case of surface level, the net supply rate of COD was 0 -0.50 mg/m2/day. The net decomposition rate of COD was 0 -0.04 mg/m2/day in middle level(3 -6m) and 0.05 -0.1 5 mg/m2/day in bottom level(6m -bottom). These results indicates that the biological decomposition and physical accumulation of COD are occurred predominantly at the northern part of bottom level. Therefore, it is important to consider both allochthonous and autochthonous oxygen demanding organic matters in the region.

진해만에 있어서의 COD의 시공간적인 특성 및 결정인자 (The Determining factors and Temporal and Spatial Characteristics of Chemical Oxygen Demand in Jinhae Bay)

  • Determining factors and temporal & spatial characteristics of COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand) at the sea surface in Jinhae bay have been examined by using seasonal data, taken at twenty six stations over the whole bay during 1989~1994 by NERDA. The data have been analyzed in terms of long term means, anomalously large values. Jinhae bay is divided into three regions based on the time mean : mouth of Jinhae bay, inner sea of Masan bay, western sea of Jinhae bay called region 1,2 and 3, respectively. The horizontal distribution of the long term mean of COD at each station is similar to those of nitrogen and phosphorus. Characteristics of whole mean variation in the year shows high range of variation in region 2. It was appear to decreases every year in whole trend. Factors determining seasonal variation in whole COD mean are relative to salinity and nutrient, affected by precipitation in summer. Spatial variation shows high range of fluctuation in region 2 compare to other region. Factors determining of spatial variation of COD was appear to nutrient, affected by pollutant load of land area and bottom sediment. The long term mean of COD at each station is closely related with thats of nutrients. The correlation coefficient between COD and nitrogen, phosphate phosphorus was found to be high as 0.75, 0.78, respectively. Anomalously large COD was observed 14 times at 6 stations. These stations are located in inner sea of Masan bay(Region 2) and Songjeong bay(Region 1). The seasonal frequency of the observed anomalous COD is large in April, and other seasons are much the same.

  • This paper provides a statistical algorithm which detects COD (chemical oxygen demand) measurement machine error on real-time. For this we propose to use regression model fitting and check its validity against the current observations. The main idea is that the normal regression relation between COD measurement and other parameters inside the machine will be violated when the machine is out of order.

태화강의 수질오염 특성에 관한 연구 - 화학적 산소요구량과 염소이온 농도 - (A Study on the Water Pollution Characteristics of the Taewha River - Chemical Oxygen Demand and Chloride ion Concentration -)

  • The COD values and chloride ion concentrations of the Taewha river flowing through Ulsan area were determined along the main stream and the relationships between CODs and chloride ion concentrations were described. The results showed that the middle-upper stream and downstream of the Taewha river were polluted deeply with municipal sewage and self-purification occured in the middle-downstream of the river. When domestic sewage is a main source of pollutants, and is especially the only source of chloride in the stream water, the ratio of COD/[$\textrm{Cl}^{-}$] will be utilizable as a measure of self-purification of the stream.

생태계모델을 이용한 울산만의 수질 시뮬레이션 (A Numerical Simulation of Marine Water Quality in Ulsan Bay using an Ecosystem Model)

  • The distributions of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and suspended solid (SS) in Ulsan Bay were simulated and reproduced by a numerical ecosystem model for the practical application to the management of marine water quality and the prediction of water quality change due to coastal developments or the constructions of breakwater and marine facilities. Comparing the computed with the observed data of COD and SS in Ulsan bay the results of simulation were found to be good enough to satisfy the practical applications.

  • There are BOD(Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand) in the date of the water pollution in the pollution analysis, BOD and COD analysis the result of the analysis. The computer developed the program in the analysis. Went by BOD, the relation conversion equation type of COD, the control chart, the standard deviation, and the coefficient of correlation etc.. for the purpose of the development of the program. There is a purpose by which it is what coefficient of correlation in the development of this program or not if the value (X and Y) of unknow is understood. In the future, if this program is applied the utilization to not only the data is analyzed about the water pollution but also a lot of fields is proposed.
