Objective: A study was conducted to determine the chemical composition of barley and co-products from barley, corn, and wheat produced in South-East Asia or Australia, and to test the hypothesis that production area or production methods can impact the chemical composition of wheat co-products. Methods: Samples included seven barley grains, two malt barley rootlets, one corn gluten feed, one corn gluten meal, one corn bran, eight wheat brans, one wheat mill mix, and four wheat pollards. All samples were analyzed for dry matter, gross energy, nitrogen, amino acids (AA), acid hydrolyzed ether extract, ash, minerals, starch, and insoluble dietary fiber and soluble dietary fiber. Malt barley rootlets and wheat co-products were also analyzed for sugars. Results: Chemical composition of barley, malt barley rootlets, and corn co-products were in general similar across countries. Wheat pollard had greater (p<0.05) concentrations of tryptophan, magnesium, and potassium compared with wheat bran, whereas wheat bran had greater (p<0.05) concentration of copper than wheat pollard. There were no differences in chemical composition between wheat bran produced in Australia and wheat bran produced in Thailand. Conclusion: Intact barley contains more starch, but fewer AA, than grain co-products. There were only few differences in the composition of wheat bran and wheat pollard, indicating that the two ingredients are similar, but with different names. However, corn gluten meal contains more protein and less fiber than corn bran.

On this study, $CO_2$ gas, net of Ar gas, and mixed gas in solid wire(AWS ER 70S-6) and flux cored wire(AWS E71T-1) were used to weld on Mild steel(SS400). After the progress, the status changes of the welds in Mild steel(SS400) were investigated with compositional changes. For stable experiments, welding was conducted using the automatic feeder. Radiation testing, hardness testing, chemical composition analysis and penetrated cross-section were measured. Through these experiments, shapes of penetrated cross-section, chemical composition changes, and weld defects according to the variation of welding gas were known. Weld defects and weld cross-sectional shapes by the variation of the welding voltage were also detected.

Objective: Information about the chemical composition of cassava-based feed ingredients is needed to accurately formulate animal diets. A study was conducted to determine the chemical composition of cassava-based feed ingredients and to test the hypothesis that there is variation in chemical composition among cassava products originating from different South-East Asian countries. Methods: Sources of dried peeled and unpeeled cassava roots, cassava chips, cassava meal, high-ash cassava meal, and cassava residue were used. All samples were analyzed for dry matter, gross energy, nitrogen, amino acids (AA), acid-hydrolyzed ether extract (AEE), ash, minerals, total starch, insoluble dietary fiber, and soluble dietary fiber. Samples of peeled and unpeeled cassava roots, cassava chips, and cassava meal were also analyzed for sugars. Results: High-ash cassava meal had greater (p<0.05) dry matter and ash, but lower (p<0.05) total starch and gross energy than all other cassava products. Peeled cassava roots, unpeeled cassava roots, and cassava chips had greater (p<0.05) total starch than the other cassava-based ingredients. Cassava residue had greater (p<0.05) concentrations of lysine, insoluble dietary fiber, and soluble dietary fiber compared with the other cassava products, but tryptophan and glutamic acid were greater (p<0.05) in peeled cassava roots, cassava chips, and cassava meal samples compared with the other ingredients. Concentration of most minerals was greater (p<0.05) in high-ash cassava meal than in the other cassava products. Conclusion: Cassava-based ingredients sold as peeled roots, unpeeled roots, chips, or meal have chemical compositions that are not different from each other, and peeling has little impact on chemical composition. High-ash cassava meal has lower nutritional quality compared with other cassava products due to low starch and gross energy. The high fiber content in cassava residue makes this ingredient more suitable for ruminants and sows than for younger pigs or poultry.
Chemical characteristics of the cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, were investigated in total composition, amino acid composition, fatty acid composition and mineral components. After the treatment of 0.4% of G. bimaculatus in the chicken feed, the changes of fatty acid composition in the chicken meat and egg were also estimated. As the result, saturated fatty acid, especially palmitic acid, decreased 4% and unsaturated fatty acids, linoleic aced and arachidonic acid, increased 12 and 23%, respectively, compared with those of control. In addition, there was a small increase in Eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA). The sensory test of the chicken meat resulted in increased flavor, brightness and yellow color. The sensory scores of G. bimaculatus egg in the point of taste resulted in somewhat better estimate than control. These results are appear to be stemmed from fatty acids of cricket.
Two-phase flow near the wellbore in volatile oil reservoirs causes complications in well test analysis. In this study, the flow behavior of volatile oil reservoirs below the bubble-point pressure and the potential of radial composite model for interpretation of two-phase well test in volatile oil reservoirs was investigated. A radial composite model was used for two-phase well test analysis. A new procedure was developed to interpret well test data and estimate the radius of the two-phase region. The changes in fluid composition near the wellbore during drawdown test were found to increase the saturation pressure, which affects the saturation profile during build-up. Well test results showed that the radial composite method is a powerful tool for well test characterization and estimation of reservoir parameters. The proposed procedure was able to estimate the reservoir parameters and radius of the two-phase region with acceptable accuracy.

This paper is to investigate the chemical composition and physical properties of cements collected at different crushing process line of ordinary portland cement to verify the possibility for producing special purpose cement based on the particle distribution technique. According to test results, six different cement samples with different blaine were gathered. loss on ignition and chemical composition of cements gathered were satisfied with KS L 5201. Cement collected at line 5 had the lowest blaine value while cement at line 4 had the highest blaine value. The coarser the cement particle is, the larger the fluidity of cement is. The compressive strength of cement was highly affected by the blaine value of cement. It is confirmed that the use of cement produced by the process of particle distribution control may be applied for special purpose cement without modification of chemical composition.

[ $FerroTitanit^{(R)}$ ] is an extremely high alloyed PM material containing about 20 to 35 wt.% titanium based carbides. Such materials are designed to achieve a high wear resistance, but the high volume fraction of hard phases causes a comparable low ductility in case of tensile loading. In the present study the mechanical properties of different Ferro-Titanit grades (variations in chemical composition and in heat treatment) were investigated by means of tensile tests. The mechanical properties and the fracture behaviour will be related to the chemical composition, the heat treatment and the microstructure.
In PECVD(Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, titanium nitride is thin and its adhesion is poor for the protective coatings. Therefore it has been studied that intermediate layer forms between substrate and TiN thin film. Using R.F. plasma nitriding, nitride layer was first formed, then TiN thin film coated by PECVD. The chemical composition of the coatings has been characterized using AES, EDS and their crystallographic structure by means of XRD. Mechanical properties such as microhardness and film adhesion have also been determined by vickers hardness test, scratch test and indentation test. As a result, there was no difference in chemical composition and structure between the TiN deposition only and the composite of TiN deposition on nitrided steel. It was found that nitrided substrate increased the hardness of TiN coatings and was beneficial in preventing the plastic deformation in the substrate. Therefore the effective load bearing capacity of the TiN coatings on nitrided steel was increased and their adhesion was improved as well. According to the results of this study, the processes that lead to the formation of composite layers characterized by good working properties, i.e., high microhardness, adhesion and resistance to deformation.

A study on mineral composition and chemical component governing of weathering process is necessary to know the weathering characteristics of sedimentary rocks. In this study, a mineral and chemical component analysis, and physical and engineering characteristic tests were conducted to find out the characteristics of sedimentary rocks in Daegu, according to the weathering degree of sedimentary rock. Test results show that the mineral composition of rock, such as Albite (Ab), Muscovite (Ms), Magenetite (Mt) and the chemical composition of $A_2O_3$, CaO, $Na_2O$, $K_2O$, MgO and so on are closely related to the weathering. Based on the test results, we illustrated the quantitative application of weathering decision for the sedimentary rocks.
In this study the composition and antimicrobial properties of essential oils obtained from Origanum onites, Mentha piperita, Juniperus exalsa, Chrysanthemum indicum, Lavandula hybrida, Rosa damascena, Echinophora tenuifolia, Foeniculum vulgare were examined. To evaluate the in vitro antibacterial activities of these eight aromatic extracts; their in vitro antimicrobial activities were determined by disk diffusion testing, according to the NCCLS criteria. Escherichia coli (ATTC 25922), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATTC 27853 were used as standard test bacterial strains. Origanum onites recorded antimicrobial activity against all test bacteria, and was strongest against Staphylococcus aureus. For Rosa damascena, Mentha piperita and Lavandula hybrida antimicrobial activity was recorded only to Staphylococcus aureus. Juniperus exalsa, and Chrysanthemum indicum exhibited antibacterial activities against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. We also examined the in vitro artimicrobial activities of some components of the essential oils and found some components with antimicrobial activity.
