  • Seventy-one species of the order cheilostomatous bryozoans are reported from coasts of southern Korea. Among them, Callpora inaviculata and Integripelta meta are described as new species and the following eight species are reported as new records of Korea: Membranipora irregulata, Tegella crenulata, Beania regularis, Celleporaria brunnea, Exochella tricuspis, Calyptotheca parcimunita, Microporella borealis, Celleporina rostellata.

  • Two smittinid species, Pleurocodonellina signata and Smittina torques, are new to Korean bryozoan fauna. Smittina elongata recorded as a new species from Japan is synonymized with Pleurocodonellina signata, and Smittina torques has been reported only from Hew Zealand so far. The genus Pleurocodonellina is recorded in Korean waters for the first time.

  • A new species of anascan Bryozoa, Cauloramphus Korensis, is described from two localities of the Yellow Sea, Korea. The new species is similar to C. spiniferum in the characteristics of cryptocyst, the location of distal spines, distal crescentic cap and more or less perpendicular proximal spines, but can easily be distinguished by the presence of brown spines, rare distal spines and hooked rostrum. The genus Cauloramphus is newly reported from Korea.

  • One of bryozoans collected from the subtidal zone of Manjae Island on Aug. 23, 1988 was identified. Parasmittina delicatula (Busk, 1884) turned out to be new to the Korean fauna. Therefore, twelve bryozoan species are reported from Manjae Island so far. Ten species including the present one among them were recorded only from the Pacific Ocean. They consisted of four tropical, three cold temperate and four endemic species to Korea and Japan. It is quite probable that Manjae Island, which is influenced by both warm and cold water currents, seems to be unique and significant area in terms of marine zoogeography.

  • Six smittinid species were identified from Korean waters. Two of which were previously recorded in the Korean bryozoan fauna are reviewed. Parasmittina raigii (Audouin, 1826) reported from Gwabutan, Jeju Island is re-examined and reidentified as Parasmittina serrula Soule and Soule, 1973, which is new to the Korean fauna. Smittoidea reticulato (MacGillivray, 1847) is reported as species which doesn't occur in the Pacific Ocean Accordingly, Smittoidea reticulata should be deleted from the Korean bryozoan fauna and the Korean specimen identified as Smittoidea reticulata is synonymous with Smittoidea pacifica Soule and Soule, 1973. Fourteen smittinid bryozoans from Korea are thus recorded so far.
