  • MSC(Multispectral Camera), which will be a unique payload on KOMPSAT-II, is designed to collect panchromatic and multi-spectral imagery with a ground sample distance of 1m and a swath width of 15km at 685km altitude in sun-synchronous orbit. The instrument is designed to have an orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission life time of 3 years. MSC electronics consists of three main subsystems; PMU(Payload Management Unit), CEU(Camera Electronics Unit) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). PMU performs all the interface between spacecraft and MSC, and manages all the other subsystems by sending commands to them and receiving telemetry from them with software protocol through RS-422 interface. CEU controls FPA(Focal Plane Assembly) which contains TDI(Timc Delay Integration) CCD(Charge Coupled Device) and its clock drivers. PMU provides a Master Clock to synchronize panchromatic and multispectral camera. PDTS performs compression, storage and encryption of image data and transmits them to the ground station through x-band.

Fuzzy Control of a Mobile Robot with Camera

  • This paper describes the path planning method in an unknown environment for an autonomous mobile robot equipped with CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera. The mobile robot moves along the guideline. The CCD camera is useful to detect the existence of a guideline. The wavelet transform is used to find the edge of guideline. Using wavelet transform, we can make an image processing more easily and rapidly. We make a fuzzy control rule using image data then make a decision the position and the navigation of the mobile robot. The center value that indicates the center of guideline is the input of fuzzy logic controller and the steering angle of the mobile robot is the fuzzy output. Some actual experiments for the mobile robot applied fuzzy control show that the mobile robot effectively moves to target position.

  • All image data acquisition systems for example the digital camera and digital camcorder, use the image sensor to convert the image data (light) into electronic data. These image sensors are used in satellite camera for high quality and resolution image data. There are two kinds of image sensors, the one is the CCD (charge coupled device) detector sensor and the other is the CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor. The CCD sensor control system has more complex than the CMOS sensor control system. For the high quality image data on CCD sensor, the precise timing control signal and the several voltage sources are needed in the control system. In this paper, the comparison of the CCD with CMOS sensor, the CCD sensor characteristic, and the control system will be described.

  • In the electronic, medical, aerospace and automobile industries, many products and parts are manufactured by joining. Recently, as these get smaller, micro joining is becoming more and more important. In this study, micro wire-to-micro wire parallel joining was performed using single mode fiber laser. Maximum power of the fiber laser is 100 W. The CCD(Charge- Coupled Device, CCD) camera to observe the specimen was made up. The objective was applied to micro joining system to make a small spot size of laser beam. In order to control the target position, micro-multi-axis-stage was set up. This paper presents results for the single mode fiber laser joining of micro wires.

  • The working surface of a flexible grinding disk was characterized by means of an image processing, in which a picture of a disk surface was taken by the CCD camera and analyzed with the personal computer. As process conditions, depth of cut was changed to be 2 and 4 mm. From the captured image circles marked on the disk was regenerated using the edges detected with scale space filtering. In order to correlate the level of deformation to the distortion of the circles, intervals between each circle have been analyzed. Notable correlation has been observed between the intervals and the process conditions.

  • 소형 대기압 플라즈마 소스는 그 형태에 따라 DBD (Dielectric Barrier Discharge)나 Plasma Needle, 혹은 Plasma Jet 등으로 구별되며, 구동 파형의 특성에 따라 DC, RF (Radio Frequency), 혹은 Pulsed 방식 등으로 나뉜다. 또한 코로나 방전도 소형 대기압 플라즈마 장치에서 사용된다. DBD는 1857년 Siemens에 의해 최초로 보고 되었고 산업 분야에서 대규모로 사용되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 대향 방전 DBD 대신 유전체 양쪽 면에 전극이 도포된 면방전 형태의 DBD 구조 내부로 He 가스가 흐를 때의 방전에 대한 광학적 진단을 수행하였다. 전극간의 거리와 가스 유속의 변화에 따라 방전 특성이 어떻게 달라지에 대해서 Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)를 통하여 생성되는 radical 종의 변화를 측정하고 ICCD (intensified charge coupled device) image를 통해 방전이 시간에 따라 어떻게 진행되는지를 진단하였다.

Delayed Luminescence of Biophotons from Plant Leaves

  • Delayed luminescence of plant leaves was imaged by a 2-D cooled charge-coupled device. We report the delayed luminescence imaging of normal/injured leaves picked ami the leaves intact. The luminescent intensity was lower in leaf veins, scars and edge cut. The intensity of delayed luminescence from intact leaves was higher than that of picked leaves. These results indirectly support the argument that the delayed luminescence of a photosynthetic system is closely related to the electron transfer process of PSII in the thylakoid membrane.

An Effect of Pressure Fluctuations of a Combustion Chamber on the Modulation of Equivalence Ratio in the Channel of the Burner (연소실 압력 변동이 버너내부의 당량비 변조에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to understand the phenomena of combustion instability, an experimental study was conducted at the moderate pressure and ambient temperature conditions. The flame behavior and the pressure fluctuations were measured in a dump combustor. Various types of combustion modes occurred in accordance with the equivalence ratio and the fuel supplying conditions. The fluctuation of pressure, heat release and equivalence ratio were measured by piezoelectric pressure sensor, high speed Intensified Charge Coupled Device (HICCD) camera and gas chromatography respectively. Two representative modes were self-excited pressure oscillations at the resonance of combustion chamber (200Hz) and instabilities related to the modulated fuel flow rate through the fuel holes (10Hz). It is found that, especially in an unchoked fuel flow condition, the modulation of the fuel flow rate affects the characteristics of flame behavior and pressure fluctuations in a lean premixed flame.

영상 센서별 제어시스템 특성 분석

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 정보 획득을 목적으로 설계되는 카메라의 핵심 부품인 영상센서의 종류별 동작 특성에 대해 분석하였다. 카메라의 영상센서는 기본적으로 카메라 광학계 설계에 영향을 받으며, 운용의 편이성, 획득 영상의 품질 및 사용되는 환경에 따라 적당한 영상센서가 선택되어 사용된다. 용도에 따라 탑재체에 할당된 무게 및 크기가 제한되므로, 적당한 광학계의 크기와 목표 영상 획득을 위해 센서의 화소면 크기가 결정된다. 가시광선 영역에서는 CCD(Charge Coupled Device), CMOS(complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) 및 NMOS 등의 종류별 영상센서가 사용될 수 있으며, 충분한 광량 확보를 위해서는 넓은 크기의 화소를 보유한 센서가 필요하지만, 이 경우 광학계의 크기와 무게가 증가하여 한정된 자원이 허락된 탑재체 설계에 부담이 된다. 제어단 설계시 빛의 수광 능력이 좋은 CCD 영상 센서를 사용할 경우 좀 더 복잡하고 비교적 높은 소비전력이 요구되는 전자부가 설계되며, 상대적으로 간단한 제어단이 요구되는 CMOS 센서의 경우, 빛의 수광 능력이 CCD에 비해 떨어진다는 단점이 있다. 이 논문에서는 두 가지 영상 센서의 특성 분석을 통해 영상 시스템 설계시 영상 센서 선택에 필요한 고려 사항에 대해 분석하였고, 효율적인 영상 시스템 설계 방안에 대해 서술하였다.
