  • We have studied the structural characterization, surface morphology and electrical properties for boron dopped polyacene anode material from phenolic resin for lithium secondary battery. The boron dopped anode material were characterized as boron contents of 5, 10, 15 and 20%, respectively. From the X-ray results, the all kinds of compounds were observed for the diffraction patterns for typical amorphous carbons. The SEM morphology showed formation of semi spherical granule for the boron dopped compounds. As the result of the electrical charge/discharge and impedance data, the 10 and 15% boron dopped materials showed good properties on the ions and electron transfer effect of battery.

  • Theoretical studies on the electrophilic substitution reactions of five-membered heteroaromatic compounds, furan, pyrrole and thiophene, with isopropyl cation were carried out using the MNDO method. The results indicated that site selectivities of ${\alpha},{\beta}$ and hetero-atoms are not controlled by electrostatic interactions but are determined mainly by charge trasfer stabilization between the HOMO of heteroaromatics and the LUMO of the electrophile. The reactivity order for ${\alpha}\;and\;{\beta}$ positions was pyrrole > furan > thiophene, in agreement with the solution-phase as well as the gas-phase experimental results.

  • The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is a device for the conversion of visible light into electricity, based on the sensitization of wide bandgap semiconductors. The performance of the cell mainly depends on a dye used as sensitizer. The absorption spectrum of the dye and the anchorage of the dye to the surface of $TiO_2$ are important parameters determining the efficiency of the cell. Generally, transition metal coordination compounds(ruthenium polypyridyl complexes) are used as the effective sensitizers, due to their intense charge-transfer absorption in the whole visible range and highly efficient metal-to ligand charge transfer. However, ruthenium polypyridyl complexes contain a heavy metal, which is undesirable from point of view of the environmental aspects. Moreover, the process to synthesize the complexes is complicated and costly. Alternatively, organic dyes can be used for the same purpose with an acceptable efficiency. The advantages of organic dyes include their availability and low cost. We designed and synthesized a series of organic sensitizers containing long wavelength absorption-chromophores for the dye sensitized solar cell. The DSSC composed of Blue-chromophores for the sensitization absorbed long wavelength region which is different also applied into the dye-cocktail (mixing) system. The photovoltaic property of DSSCs organic long wavelength absorption-chromophores were measured and evaluated by comparison with that of individual chromophores.

  • Dendrimers represent a new class of synthetic macromolecules characterized by a regularly branched treelike structure. Multiple branching yields a large number of chain ends that distinguish dendrimers from conventional star-like polymers and microgels. The azobenzene dendrimer is one of the dendrimeric macromolecules that include the azo-group exhibiting a photochromic character. Due to the presence of the charge transfer element of the azo-group and its rod-shaped structure, these compounds are expected to have potential interest in electronics and photoelectronics, especially in nonlinear optics. In the present paper, we give pressure stimulation to organic thin films and detect the induced displacement current. Functional photoisometrization organic molecular the photo-stimulus to organic monomolecular L-films and LB films of dendrimer and 8A5H were performed. The 8A5H organic monolayer in case of pressure stimulus occurred that positive course but in case of the photo-stimulus compared positive and negative. It is assumed that generation forms of displacement current were measured when photo-stimulus for Impression.

  • The electronic structures of 4-pyridone and lutidone are studied by the SCF MO-CI PPP method and by the configuration analysis method. The spectral data are consistent with the values calculated by the method. The polarization of $S_1({\pi},{\pi}^*)$ state is along the long molecular axis in both compounds. The lowest $({\pi},{\pi}^*)$1 state shows significant charge transfer (16∼18%) from ${\pi}$ bonding orbital of C=O moiety to ${\pi}^*$ antibonding orbital of divinyl amine moiety. The lowest triplet state shows much larger charge transfer (24∼29 %) but in opposite direction compared to that of $S_1({\pi},{\pi}^*)$ state.

  • Corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in 2M HCl by some benzohydrazide derivatives (I-III) was studied using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques at $30^{\circ}C$. Polarization studies showed that all the investigated compounds are of mixed type inhibitors. Temperature studies revealed a decrease in efficiency with rise in temperature and corrosion activation energies increased in the presence of the hydrazide derivatives, probably implying that physical adsorption of cationic species may be responsible for the observed inhibition behavior. Electrochemical impedance studies showed that the presence of benzohydrazide derivatives decreases the double layer capacitance and increases the charge transfer resistance. The adsorption of these compounds on carbon steel surface was found to obey Temkin's adsorption isotherm. Synergistic effects increased the inhibition efficiency in the presence of halide additives namely KI and KBr. An inhibition mechanism was proposed in terms of strongly adsorption of inhibitor molecules on carbon steel surface.

  • A group of new N,N-bis(5-acetylpyridin-2-yl)phenylamine derivatives was synthesized in good yield applying an optimized Buchwald-Hartwig amination protocol. The synthesized compounds showed UV absorption maxima in the range of 320-360 nm, and showed good luminescence at dilute concentrations in the blue region of the spectra (in the range of 480-497 nm). They showed also a bathochromic shift associating the increase in solvent polarity. The synthesized compounds could be investigated for use in OLEDs or as potential monomers for PLEDs.

  • The reaction of ammonium ferric sulfate with sodium borohydride in laponite sol yields nanoiron colloidal solution. This solution in air forms transparent yellow brown solution. The resulting solution reacts with bidentate chelating ligands. The reaction products are characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. All compounds show metal to ligand charge transfer band in the region of 400~650 nm in UV-Vis absorption spectra. This indicates the formation of iron-ligand complex by air oxidation of nanoiron. Also, XRD patterns exhibit that the iron-ligand complex is intercalated in the interlayer of laponite.
