This study aims to investigate the educational significance in modern education by analysis on the contents of taboo in the Korean traditional prenatal education. For this study, the concrete matters are prepared for investigation as follows: First, the contents of prenatal education are analyzed with special reference to the Chinese bibliography and the Korean bibliography related to its own traditional prenatal education. Second, the contents of taboo in prenatal education are broadly classified into Chun-ki(天忌), Chi-ki(地忌), and In-ki(人忌), and in turn, In-ki is classified into taboo related to clothing, taboo related to food, Taboo related to housing, and man's taboo, and all of them are interpreted. Third, the characteristics of taboo in the Korean traditional prenatal education and its principle are analyzed, and its significance is researched from the modern educational point of view. This study attempts to classify the contents of taboo into Chun-ki, Chi-ki, In-ki, and man's taboo based upon analysis of the documentary records related to the traditionary prenatal education in China and Korea for the successful investigation. The characteristic such as common discipline, the time limit and prevention are induced on the basis of this investigation, and its modern educational significance as follows: First, prenatal education must be conduced as a part of youth education and preparatory parents education for the married couple. Second, man or husband plays a very important role of practising taboo in prenatal education. Third, taboo in prenatal education is very suggestive in the aspect of human relationship and mental health of the pregnant woman. Fourth, it prevents her obesity and strain. Fifth, the scientific proof and education of taboo related to food must be needed.

Smart Learning has been introduced in the educational field recently and it has been used in various ways to improve the quality of education. This research is focused on smart learning contents development for settlement in the educational field. It has carried forward studying in smart learning contents development using storyline, which is a kind of application authoring tool. We analyzed previous studies related to smart learning and presented the characteristics of storyline and the process of content development. Furthermore, we developed the content of digit sorting in Information Life for 6th grade elementary students and applied it to the field to evaluate the educational effectiveness. Through experimental results, the mean difference between traditional activities instruction and instruction using smart learning content was not significant. Nevertheless it has been found the immediate feedback and repeating of activities using smart learning has had positive impacts for understanding, satisfaction and learning interest.

One of the major issues in the field of corporate training and formal education is the support of personalized learning. Successful personalized learning needs the availability of the relevant learning contents at just-in-time for learners each. The competency is one of personal characteristics. So competency-based learning is one of the methods that fulfill the above need. Successful competency-based learning needs the method that recommends the relevant contents for the user's deficient competency based on the user's current competency and objectives. We assume that there exists a student information system that provides each user's competences and objectives as fields of a LIP/ePortfolio-compliant student information. This paper proposes an ontology-based system that, given the user's competences and objectives from the above student informaton system, recommends the relevant contents among a large number of educational contents using competency ontology and domain ontology. The advantage of this system can easily handle the change of competency map and terms related with competences in student information and education contents.

This study aims to investigate development directions for smart contents to support enhancing adaptive behavior skills of children with autistic disorder in elementary school. AHP survey of experts including special education teachers and directors in educational institution for disability children was performed to analyze importance weight for smart contents development necessity and effectiveness in adaptive behavior skills. And the smart contents development suitability through pre-discussion for idea generation for various development method and AHP survey with smart application development experts was evaluated. The results show that the effective and suitable adaptive behavior skills for smart contents development were understanding of languaging, time management and keeping, movement skills, wearing clothes, and personal hygiene in order of importance. Based on this study, education authorities should make an effort not to develop fragmentary educational smart contents but to support development of smart contents and service systems with better effectiveness and usability to meet demand for special education teachers and parents considering characteristics of children with autism.

The study aims to gain information for developing educational contents to support LPSMB(low-performing students with multicultural backgrounds) through the survey on their personal characteristics, attitudes related to learning, and learning environment. We analyzed a survey of 2,091 students from 200 schools who were low-performing Korean students, LPSMBs, and normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds. Normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds showed statistically significant higher scores on most questionnaires than low-performing Korean students and LPSMBs. However, normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds and LPSMs showed statistically significant lower scores on identity and social relationships. LPSMBs showed lower scores on parents' culture than normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds. We suggested how to support LPSMBs' learning and learning environment based on the survey results.

The purpose of this study is to see what the essential characteristics are in teaching probability and statistics among various mathematical fields. we also tried to connect the study of probability and statistics education with what is needed for a science be synthetic to have its own identity as a unique research field. Since we searched for the future direction of the pedagogic study in the probability and statistics we first selected papers on probability and statistics published in (Series A), the Journal of Korea Society of Mathematical Education, and establish the following research questions. What kinds of characteristics can be found when papers on probability and statistics published in (Series A) are classified into low categories; contents of probability and statistics education, research method of the mathematics education, methods of teaming and teaching, and finally measurements and evaluation\ulcorner We classified papers into two kinds. One is related to the educational contents, consisting of the methods of learning and teaching, and of the measurement and evaluation. The other is reined to the methods of research, which is not a part of the educational curriculum but is essential for establishing the identity of mathematics education. According to the periods, papers on the curricular contents in 1960s were influenced by the New Mathematics, and papers on the curricular contents in 1980s were influenced by 'back to basic'. In 1990s, papers on methods of learning and teaching, and measurement md evaluation were increasing in number. Besides, (series A) from the Journal of Korea Society of Mathematical Education covers contents, methods of Loaming and teaching, and measurement and evaluation. And when I examined the papers on the contents of textbook of a junior high school related to the probability and statistics education and on methods of learning and teaching, 1 found that those papers occupy 1.84% in . When it comes to the methods of loaming and teaching, most of studies in (series A) are about application of concrete implement like experiment and practical application of computer programs, Through this study, I found that over-all and more active researches on probability and statistics are required and that the studies about methods of loaming and teaching must be made in diverse directions. It is needed that how students recognize probability and statistics, connection, communication and representation in probability and statistics context, too. (series A) does not have papers on methods of study. Mathematics pedagogy is a mixture of various studies - mathematical psychology, mathematical philosophy, the history of mathematics and Mathematics. So If there doesn't exist a proper method of study adequate in the situation for the mathematics education the issue of mathematics pedagogy might be taken its own place by that of other studies'. We must search for the unique method of study fur mathematics education so that mathematics pedagogy has its own identity as a study. The study concerning this aspect is needed.

College and university foodservice dietitians have to be competent for playing a role as the future food service executive as well as the present foodservice administrator in the promising foodservice industry field. The study conducted a survey to examine training needs corresponding to educational contents for the purpose of helping them acquire a new knowledge related to self-development and duty through educational training. The results of this study suggested that training needs were differed by general characteristics of dietitians, operational characteristics of food services, and training subjects. A future study should develop systematic training strategies for dietitians.

As digital technologies have strongly impacted the whole social aspects, so museum recently emerging as an alternative or supplementary learning environment to school, after active adoption to the technologies, gave birth to museum websites called 'Virtual Museums' which, then, result in enhancing the educational roles and functions of physical museum. In this context, this study aimed to review the process of how virtual museum has been developed in terms of its educational roles and characteristics in accordance with the evolutionary development of web. Especially, the analysis of the status quo of the current virtual museums in both Korea and overseas presented specific aspects of the educational elements and roles embedded in virtual museum which have been emphasized in many related research and studies. The categories of the roles of the virtual museum, as a result, were classified into 'digital archive,' 'learning resources,' and 'communigy,' each of which were, then, further elaborated for its individual educational uses. Eventually this study purposed to expand the public awareness and knowledge of virtual museum as the alternative online learning environments needed in the 21st century.

The experimental software such as Cabri II, The Geometer's Sketchpad, etc. provides dynamic environment which construct and explore geometric objects interactively and inductively. It has the effects on mathematics itself differently from other technologies that are used in instruction. What is its characteristics\ulcorner What are the educational implication of it for the learning of geometry\ulcorner How is mental reasoning of geometric problems changed by transformation of the means of representation and the environment to manipulate them\ulcorner In this study, we answer these questions through the review of the related literatures and the analysis of textbooks, teaching materials using it and curricular materials. Also, we identify implications about how the criteria for choosing geometic content and the ways of constructing context, for orchestrating the students' exploration with the secondary geometry curriculum, can be changed.

As the education of maritime college has a characteristics of seafaring professional institutions, the potential benefit following from the employment of seafarers would put substantial impact on it. The socio-economic position of seafaring occupations has been deteriorated considerably with changes of ship's auto-mation, specialisation and low cost operation management of shipping companies through severe internatio-nal competitions. The quality and number of applicants for the maritime college has declined and most students have no hopes for the study of seafaring subjects which followed bewildering in their college days. However, the demands for seafarers are fairly large from the viewpoint of national maritime industry. The maritime institutions should not only meet these demands but also revitalise students by reforming the educational contents. The contents should be influenced by the social approach to educational needs in particular maritime shore-oriented subjects. The maritime education is no more restricted to the sea, it covers the land based world of the maritime industry as well. The new contents will lead the maritime educated students to the shore-based occupa-tions after finishing their seafaring if they want to. This may not only make ways to the maritime educa-tion fruitable, but also the students have a zeal and hope for the subjects taught.
