Development of a New Direct Marketing Channel in the Chinese Rural Market: The Case of Hongfu Fertilizer Company

  • Distribution channel decisions involve long-term commitments with other firms that are very difficult to change or replace. In particular, marketing channel decisions in emerging markets are much more complicated due to unfamiliar conditions and problems such as lack of market data and distribution systems. Therefore, when a company considers changing or introducing a marketing channel in an area, it is much more difficult to judge its effectiveness in an emerging market than in a developed market. In this study, we investigate the development process of a new direct marketing channel of Hongfu Fertilizer Company (hereafter Hongfu), a medium-sized Chinese fertilizer manufacturer, and propose an approach to test the feasibility of this new marketing channel in the Chinese rural market. We measure the effectiveness of Hongfu's new marketing channel from two perspectives: i) from customers' perspective through direct responses of farmers, which showed that a new channel can increase the convenience and lower the purchasing costs for the farmers, and ii) from the company's perspective, by calculating the incremental profit of the company using the expansion factor (T/Q) method, which suggested that the execution of Hongfu's strategy to expand a new marketing channel will result in an increase in profits. The results of this study contribute to the development of a methodology to test the feasibility of a new direct marketing channel in the emerging markets such as the Chinese rural market. Traditional and indirect distribution channels in emerging markets are generally not very efficient and difficult to change. Especially, in emerging markets, like the Chinese rural market, the methods of testing channel feasibility must be different from that of developed markets. Considering market situations, market experiments can be more effective then systematic market surveys in testing channel feasibility in emerging markets. This study implies that managers must learn to cope with a transition from the traditional marketing channels in emerging markets. With the development in farmers' understanding of marketing concept, the transition from traditional marketing channel is unavoidable for all firms. Farmers in China are generally very conservative, however, their buying behaviors are changing. Therefore, fertilizer companies should try to adjust in accordance with farmers' demand characteristics that the efforts to meet the economic needs of farmers with new marketing channels as well as trust building are critical in the near future.

오수관 설계유량 산정법이 설계유속에 미치는 영향 (Design Flow Velocity Changes According to the Design Flow Determination Methods in the Sanitary Sewer)

  • The present study analyzed actual cases of designed flow estimation method and designed flow rate of sewage pipe lines. In order to examine the effects of peak-hour demand factor estimation with given daily highest peak loading, we analyzed its effects on designed flow rate with changing the peak-hour demand factor from 2.0 to 10.0. The results of this study are as follows. When reviewing the recent designs, we found that 59.4% of pipe line with 250mm and 300mm diameter, which fall under minimum allowable pipeline did not meet the minimum velocity which is specified as 0.6m/sec in design standards. The pipe line that have minimal access population or have very low slope did not satisfy the minimum velocity. In estimating the designed sewage flow, the applied daily highest peak loading and hourly highest peaking loading were the load factor for the entire population of the planned area, and for the peak loading of the initial pipes connected to a very small population, we applied the same factor as that applied to the entire area and, as a result, the hourly highest flow was underestimated. Because, in case of the initial pipes, the method of applying the same peak loading to all subject areas is highly possible to produce underestimated design flow, when estimating the designed flow of the initial pipes connected to a small population need to adopt a rational flow factor according to the size of population. For this, it is considered to investigate and analyze raw data on daily and hourly variation of sewage flow.

제3자물류기업 선정요인이 물류성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 물류환경요인에 의한 조절효과를 중심으로 (A study on the Influence of Logistic Performance with Factors of Choosing the Third Party Logistics company : Focused on the Using Regulation effect of Logistics Performance)

  • 본 논문은 제조기업이 제3자물류를 활용하는 사례가 증가하고 있고, 그에 따라 제3자물류기업 선정요인이 물류성과에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 이와 더불어 변화하는 물류환경요인에 따라 제3자물류기업 선정요인과 물류성과에 어떠한 영향이 있는지 확인하였다. 그 결과 제3자물류 선정요인중 서비스요인과 명성요인은 물류성과에 영향이 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 물류환경을 이용해 조절효과를 측정한 결과 제3자물기업 선정요인중 서비스요인은 물류환경요인 중 고객요인의 조절효과에 의해 물류성과에 영향을 미치고, 제3자물류기업 선정요인 중 명성요인은 물류환경요인 중 글로벌요인과 정보시스템요인의 조절효과에 의해 물류성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

고강도콘크리트의 동결융해저항에 미치는 기포조직의 영향 (Effect of Air Void System of High Strength Concrete on Freezing and Thawing Resistance)

  • 콘크리트의 내동해성은 일반적으로 공기량이나 기포조직 및 분포에 따라 크게 영향을 받으며 콘크리트의 강도와도 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 고강도콘크리트의 동결융해 저항성에 미치는 공기량 및 기포조직 특히 간격계수의 영향에 관한 실험적 연구로서 우선 압축강도는 Non-AE콘크리트를 대상으로 400-500kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$를 목표로 하였고, 실험결과 내구성지수가 10~20%정도에 불과하므로 다음단계로 공기량 2~12%인 AE콘크리트로 하여 내구성 향상을 도모하였다. 이 때 단위시멘트량, 물\ulcorner시멘트비등을 변화시킨 20종류의 콘크리트 배합에 대해 500cycle까지 동결융해시험을 실시하였다. 결론적으로 동결융해의 저항성은 물\ulcorner시멘트비 보다는 공기량과 더 밀접한 관계가 있었고 임계내구성지수에 대응하는 간격계수는 물\ulcorner시멘트비에 따라 다르다는 사실을 알 수 있었다.

산업용 드론을 이용한 잣수확용 해머링 시스템의 구조해석 (Structural Analysis of Hammering System for Pine Cone Harvest using Industrial Drone)

  • In this paper, in order to secure the safety and productivity of pine cone harvest, modeling and structural analysis of the hammering system for pine cone harvest drone that can easily access pine cone of Pinus koraiensis and collide with them to harvest them was performed. It calculate the equivalent stress for the structure of the hammering system and the yield strength of the applied material by applying the shear force of the stalk at which the pine cone is separated from the branch, and it is to verify the safety of the structure and propose an optimal design through appropriate factor of safety and design change. The shear force of the stalk at which the pine cone was separated from the branch was 468 N, and was applied to both ends of the hammering system. The yield strength of SS400 steel used in the hammering system is 245 ㎫, and the design change and structural analysis were performed so that the Von Mises stress could be less than 122.5 ㎫ by applying the factor of safety of 2.0 or more. As a result of the structural analysis of the frist modeling, the Von Mises stress was 220.3 ㎫, the factor of safety was 1.12, and the stress was concentrated in the screw fastening holes. As a result of the design change of the screw fastening holes, the Von Mises stress was 169.4 ㎫, the factor of safety was 1.45, and the stress was concentrated on the side part. As a result of the design change by changing screw fastening holes and adding ribs, the Von Mises stress was 121.6 ㎫, and the factor of safety was 2.02. The safety of the hammering system was secured with an optimal design with little change in mass. There was no deformation or damage as a result of experimenting on pine cone harvest by manufacturing the hammering system with an optimal design.

학교 청소년의 인터넷중독 현상의 영향요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Key Factors on the Internet Addiction of the Youth)

  • The aim of this study was to draw some suggestions for Internet Policy by using empirical analyses of key factors in Internet addiction in youths. Internet addiction in youths is perceived as a current and significant issue throughout the world. For the purpose of this study, factors that have influence on the Internet addiction of the youth have been explored and analysed empirically of its hypothetical relationships by using the SEM(structural equation modelling). As a result, a few key factors that suggest a strong relationship to Internet addiction in youths have been drawn: subjects' personality, accessibility to the Internet, psychology and communication factor. Particularly accessibility to the Internet, and specifically the duration of time spent online causes the phenomenon of the Internet addiction. This study shows, however, the subjects' personality and communication factor have the most significant causal relationship to Internet addiction. In other word, the Internet addiction has been changing with the various factors including the factors drawn in this study, which are subjects' personality, accessibility to the Internet, psychology and communication factor. Therefore, Internet addiction should not be merely treated as the isolated problem of the Internet itself; rather it should be understood as various dimensions of society, economy, culture etc. Furthermore, some alternatives to deal with the Internet addiction should be found in various approaches.

글로벌 기업사례를 통해 본 장수요인 분석 (Global company with a focus on case analysis of the longevity factor)

  • 기업은 시작과 동시에 계속기업을 영위하면서 사회적 책임도 가지게 된다. 하지만 최근 기업의 평균수명이 점점 단축되고 있으며 기업환경 또한 급격하게 변화하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 글로벌 기업의 장수요인 분석을 통하여 기업의 장수, 즉 계속기업의 해답을 얻고자 하였다. 지멘스와 듀폰의 두 거대 글로벌기업의 장수요인을 분석해 본 결과 그 요인은 사업포트폴리오 변화, 위험관리, 지속적 연구개발, 신뢰경영, 친환경경영등의 요인이 설명되었다. 이는 지속적 내, 외부 환경 분석 및 핵심역량 강화를 통한 책임경영의 구현이 곧 장수경영의 핵심으로 나타나고 있다.

가스사출성형인자가 가스사출성형품의 중공부 형성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Processing Variables on the Gas Penetrated Part of Gas-Assisted Injection Molding)

  • Gas-assisted injection molding (GAIM) process is reducing the injection pressure during mold filling required as well as the shrinkage and warpage of the part and cycle time. Despite of these advantages, this process introduces new parameters and makes the application more difficult because the process interacts between gas and melt during injection molding process. Important GAIM factors that involved in this process include gas penetration design, locations of gas injection points, shot size, gas injection delay time as well as common injection molding parameters, gas pressure and gas injection time. In this study, the experiments were conducted to investigate effects of GAIM process variables on the gas penetration for PP and ABS moldings by changing gas injection point. Taguchi method was used fer the design of experiment. When the gas was injected at cavity's center, the most effective factor was shot size. When the gas was injected at cavity's end, the most effective factor was melt temperature. Injection speed was also an effective factor in GAIM process.

자동변속기의 과도특성 분석을 위한 토크 컨버터의 변동 파라미터 성능 모델 개발 (Development of the Variable Parametric Performance Model of Torque Converter for the Analysis of the Transient Characteristics of Automatic Transmission)

  • To enhance the acceleration performance and fuel consumption rate of a vehicle, the torque converter is modified or newly-developed with reliable analysis model. Up to recently, the one dimensional performance model has been used for the analysis and design of torque converter. The model is described with constant parameters based on the concept of mean flow path. When it is used in practice, some experiential correction factors are needed to minimize tole estimated error. These factors have poor physical meaning and cannot be applied confidently to the other specification of torque converter. In this study, the detail dynamic model of torque converter is presented to establish the physical meaning of correction factors. To verify the validity of model, performance test was carried out with various input speed and oil temperature. The effect of oil temperature on the performance is analysed, and it is applied to the dynamic model. And, to obtain the internal flow pattern of torque converter, CFD(Computational Fluid Dyanmics) analysis is carried out on three-dimensional turbulent flow. Correction factors are determined from the internal flow pattern, and their variation is presented with the speed ratio of torque converter. Finally, the sensitivity of correction factors to the speed ratio is studied for the case of changing capacity factor with maintaining torque ratio.

헬멧형 뇌자도 장치로의 활용을 위한 Pb 초전도 차폐의 특성 (Characteristics of Superconductive Pb shield for a Whole Head MEG System)

  • We have investigated the characteristics of a superconductive Pb shield for hemispherical shape and plate to improving signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of biomagnetism. We measured the shielding factor for the position of helmet shape Pb and for changing the distance from Pb surface. To make a uniform magnetic field, a $1.5m{\times}1.5m$ set of the helmholtz coils activated at several frequencies. The shielding factor of hemispherical shape Pb was from 20 to 57 dB and of Pb plate was about $6{\sim}26dB$ as a function of distance from the lead surface. The shielding factor was rapidly reduced as increasing the distance from Pb surface. The white noise of superconductive quantum interference device(SQUID) with a superconductive shield was about $12fT/Hz^{1/2}$ at 1 Hz, $7fT/Hz^{1/2}$ at 100 Hz. The white noise was more increased about two times than conventional SQUID system without Pb shielding. An auditory signal was measured by first order gradiometer and magnetometer with Pb superconductive shield and compared the SNR. The SQUID system with Pb shield had better performance at low frequency noise level.
