  • This study is to trace the change of stream shape using the past series of aortal photographs and topographic maps, and to compare the land use changes of inland along the stream. For the Gyeongan first & second class of local stream, aerial photographs of 1966, 1981 and 2000 were selected and ortho photographs were made with interior orientation and exterior orientation, respectively. In addition, topographic maps of 1914 - 1915 were used to compare with stream of 1966, 1981 and 2000. As apparent changes of the stream, the consolidated reaches of stream with levee construction were straightened and their stream width widened. Especially the stream width of inlet part of Paldang lake was widened almost twice because of the rise of water level by dam construction in 1974. The land use maps (1966, 1981, 2000) of riparian areas were also made, respectively and classified into 6 categories (water, forest, agricultural land, urban area, road, sandbar) by digitizing, The main changes of land use were agricultural land, urban area, road and sandbar.

  • This experiment has been carried out to find the structure of turbulent boundary layer with instantaneous velocity fields obtained in stream-wall-normal planes using a stereo-PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) method. And it has been measured perpendicular plane and horizontal plane with hairpin vortex structure by Reynolds number change and made third dimension shape for section of horizontal plane through stereo-PIV. In the outer layer hairpin vortices occur in streamwise-aligned packets that propagate with small velocity dispersion. A streaky structure is composed of counter-rotating vortex. According as y+ increases, streaky structure's interval space decrease, and it shows that hairpin shape of prior research is vertified. The objective of the present research is to gain a better understanding of coherent structures in the outer of wall turbulence by experimentally examining coherent structures.

  • Soft ferromagnetic materials are very useful for many sensors using magnetic materials with high permeability, low coercivity and low hysteresis loss. Among them, FeCoSiBNi amorphous magnetic films show us a good impedance change(about 3.05%/Oe, at 12MHz) by the exterior magnetic field in this experiment. These are produced by rapid solidification from the melt and the material is ejected in a jet from a nozzle and quenched in a stream of liquid. After that, we make them a shape of wire with different sizes of width. Thus, we can find that the impedance change (122.16%, at 12MHz) is occurred and the fabricated magnetic wire has the characteristics of good sensor element.

  • The objective of this study was to improve the cross-sectional area and height estimation method using stream width. Stream water levels should be calculated together to simulate inundation of agricultural land. However, cross-sectional survey data of small rural rivers are insufficient. The previous study has developed regression equations between the width and the cross-sectional area and between the width and the height of stream cross-section, but can not be applied to a wide range of stream widths. In this study, cross-sectional survey data of 6 streams (Doowol, Chungmi, Jiseok, Gam, Wonpyeong, and Bokha stream) were collected and divided into upstream, midstream and downstream considering the locations of cross-sections. The regression equations were estimated using the complete data. $R^2$ between the stream width and cross-sectional area was 0.96, and $R^2$ between width and height was 0.81. The regression equations were also estimated using divided data for upstream, midstream and downstream considering the locations of cross-sections. The range of $R^2$ between the stream width and cross-sectional area was 0.86 - 0.91, and the range of $R^2$ between width and height was 0.79 ? 0.92. As a result of estimating the cross-sections of 6 rivers using the regression equations, the regression equations considering the locations of cross-sections showed better performance both in the cross-sectional area and height estimation than the regression equations estimated using the complete data. Hydrologic Engineering Center - River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) was used to simulate the flood stage analysis of the estimated and the measured cross-sections for 50-year, 100-year, and 200-year frequency floods. As a result of flood stage analysis, the regression equations considering the locations of cross-sections also showed better performance than the regression equations estimated using the complete data. Future research would be needed to consider the factors affecting the cross-sectional shape such as river slope and average flow velocity. This study can be useful for inundation simulation of agricultural land adjacent to an unmeasured stream.

  • The significant sedimentation at the estuary in the eastern coast of Korea frequently causes river mouth occlusion where disconnection between the river and sea is observed. River mouth occlusion causing watershed retention raises the environmental risk of the area as it impairs water quality and threatens the area's safety in the event of floods. This study proposes a plan to maintain stability of river channel and flow of flood discharge at the estuary with loss of its function for disaster prevention. To this end, the study tries to change the location and width of stream path, focusing on the center line of stream near the sand bar of river mouth. This allows to identify a shape of stream path that leads the most stable flow. To review the result, this study uses the SRH-2D, a model for two-dimensional hydraulic analysis, and conduct numeric simulation. The simulation result showed that the most effective plan for maintaining the stable flow of running water without having the area sensitive to changes in hydraulic characteristics is to lower the overall river bed height of the sand bar near the center line of stream to a equal level.

  • It was monitored 3 years from 2003 to 2005 that the variational quality of water according to the arrangement toward natural shape of stream, and the variational characteristics of the each contents on water quality were analyzed after the separation into three periods of before, among and after arrangement construction. The quality monitoring results showed that the averages of water temperature, pH, DO, SS, BOD, T-N and T-P were $17.1{\sim}21.4^{\circ}C$, $6.44{\sim}7.74$, $7.02{\sim}8.36mg/L,\;0.7{\sim}51.9mg/L,\;0.310{\sim}1.044mg/L,\;0.41{\sim}2.43mg/L$ and $0.003{\sim}0.008mg/L$, respectively. The measured values of BOD, T-N and T-P were high just after construction, but the amounts were lowered as time passed, and finally stabilized in 2005. It ranged from 0.337 to 0.912 that the coefficients of correlation on linear regression between the discharges of water and BOD, T-N and T-P at each monitoring points, respectively.

  • Estuary sand bar of Namdaecheon Stream is located in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do in Korea. This unique place is situated between end of Namdaecheon Stream and East Sea. It is an important environment area of the global ecosystem from the transition zone of land and marine environments by forming a variety of coastal circumstance. Some endemic species should be protected which is appearing in the Namdaecheon Stream because of preservation for future generations. Especially, the salmon return to this stream as adults in order to breed which is more than 70 % of the salmon in Korea peninsular. The monitoring of estuary sand bar is need to analyze ecological environment and sustainable development with time. First of all we represents a different shape of estuary sand bar of Namdaecheon Stream from 1984 to 2015 using Landsat satellite imagery series. Particularly movement of the "tidal inlet" is most important factor to investigate the condition of the change for estuary sand bar. The location of tidal inlet is compared with precipitation, height of tide and oceanic current data according to time variation.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze and interpret the ponds appeared in the Korean traditional temples. Summarized findings are as follows: First, it appeared that the location of ponds of the Korean traditional temples is, in general, in both the entry space and transitional space of temple. And it is considered that such configurations of the location of ponds were done intentionally in order that the ponds should have a significance as same as the concept that a natural mountain stream separates the sacred place and the secular world. Second, since the size of the ponds appeared in the temples are considered to be what is transformed from the original one, it is hard to understand the real size. However, it is judged that since ponds we see at present played an element of the total space of a temple it is deemed that no significant change of the size of ponds have happened if the size of the structure a temple itself has ever changed. Third, it appeared that the forms of the temple's ponds are diversified in a square, oval, egg-shaped one, round shape(circle), natural shape, etc. and it is identified that most of the ponds inspected for this study appeared to be in shapes of an oval, egg-shaped one, and round shape which take a typical curve. Fourth, regarding the temples whose origins are from the Baekje dynasty or Shilla dynasty among the objects of this case study, there appear some uniform styles for each temple respectively. For example, in both the Junglim Temple's twin pond(定林寺 雙池) and the Mireuk Temple's twin pond(彌勒寺 雙池) which were built in the Baekje dynasty appears a twin-pond in a square shape, and in the Bulkuk temple(佛國寺), Haein temple(海印寺), Tongdo temple(通度寺), etc. which were built in the Silla dynasty appears the ponds in an egg-shape one. Fifth, regarding the function of the ponds appeared in the temples, the ponds are characterized with a lotus pond(蓮池), reflecting pond(影池), and pond complex(蓮 . 影池). In consideration of the 20 ponds in the 15 places of this study's object, there are 8 lotus ponds(蓮池), 6 reflecting ponds(影池), and 6 ponds complex(蓮 . 影池).

  • According to the propagation of fuel cell system, the importance of that system efficiency is being magnified. Thus, the efficiency improvement of reformer which is the important part of fuel cell system will be required. In structural aspect, the reformer is classified into cylindrical and plate type. Plate type reformer features better maintenance and space efficiency compared with cylindrical type. In this study, we changed the shape of combustion chamber to improve the reforming efficiency. And then we performed the CFD simulation to predict the spacial distribution of temperature. Analysis cased contains with baffles, fins, baffles and fins, and without those. In case of only with-baffle, temperature distributions were uneven because the high temperature stream was concentrated near the baffle end. In case of with-fin, the temperature distributions were relatively even than other cases.

  • The relations between ambient conditions and ice accretion shapes are quantitatively analyzed by employing self-organization maps and analysis of variance. Liquid water contents(LWC), mean volumetric droplet diameter(MVD), ambient temperature and free-stream velocity are chosen as ambient conditions which change ice accretion shapes. The parameters of ice accretion shape are selected as maximum thickness, icing limits, ice heading, and ice accretion area. Qualitative analysis was conducted by employing self-organization maps which show the qualitative relations between ice shapes and ambient conditions. The quantitative results of analysis of variance yield intensity of ambient conditions to the parameters of ice accretion shapes.
