  • A new fastness formula based on CIEDE2000 color-difference formula is developed by B. Rigg and his coworkers. It is very simple to calculate fastness grade for color change than ISO 105-A05 fastness formula based on CIELAB color-difference formula. Sample pair sets which cover a wide range color space were accumulated from NCS(Natural Color System) color book. For those sample pair sets, visual measurement experiment and instrument measurement experiment of fastness grade were carried out and each performance of ISO 105-A02 fastness formula and newly developed fastness formula was compared through degree of agreement for visual measurement result. Newly developed fastness formula indicated improved performance for measuring fastness grade but current ISO fastness formula for assessing change in color, ISO 105-A05, was confirmed that it's performance is inadequate to measure fastness grade. Then fastness formulae were examined more closely according to particular color spaces and the correlation of hue, lightness and chrom for measuring fastness grade was also considered in this study.

  • A high seed yield '232' was evaluated for morphological characteristics and tissue culture re-sponse. The effect of mowing and urea application on coverage in '232' was also studied and the results were as follows ;1.'232' produced high seed yield than any other lines, but its other characteristics such as coverage, establishment rate, stolon length, stolon number and colour change were not good. 2.Callus induction of '232'(52.9%) was relatively high, and higher than that of Z. sinica(49.0%). However, embryogenic callus formation of '232' was not as good as that of Z. japonica and Z. sinica. 3.Coverage of '232' was very much enhanced by mowing on July 18, but not at all by mowing on May 29 and September 4. 4.Urea application did not increase the coverage in '232',Therefore, it can be used as a breeding material rather than direct use.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between color change and residual compressive strength in concrete exposed to high temperature. In order to study the color image analysis, the specimens have been tested with variables of concrete strengths (20Mpa, 40Mpa, 60Mpa) in transient heating conditions($800^{\circ}C$ heating and 4 hour preservation). The results show that the residual strength of specimens are coincident with the full development of the pink/red color and the method may be used to define the distance from a heated surface where strength degradation has occurred.

  • This study has investigated the Horse Culture and the Horse Owner‘s colours(Horse racing silks or Jockey’s costume). The results of this study revealed that the jockey‘s costume of western as well as Korean’s. According to the “International agreement on breeding and racing” in order to avoid too much variation between basic colours, grades of colours and colour combinations, a standard for owner‘s colours and jacket design has been agreed. Racing colours registered before the present agreement will however be allowed. Every horse coming from abroad runs in the registered colours of its owner in the country where the horse is trained. There are unique Korean jockey’s costume, They are going to change jockey‘s costume to Owner’s colours.

  • Radial changes of stellar population within the Galactic globular clusters have been reported in many spectroscopic and photometric studies. We present new integrated spectroscopic data for 24 Galactic globular clusters and have measured line indices within various aperture sizes. Radial gradients have been investigated for the Balmer lines and metal lines (Mgb). Our results show an increase in the strength of the Balmer lines toward the centres in some clusters including NGC7078, NGC7089, and NGC6934, in which colour gradients also have been detected previously. However, some other clusters show little trend or even an increase toward the outskirt in the Balmer lines. Metal sensitive lines generally have an anti-correlation with the Balmer lines. We discuss possible stellar populations being responsible for the radial change in line indices.

  • This research is to figure out the manufacture proper1ies and the effect of adding red ginseng powder into cookies. When adding red ginseng powder into wheat, there was no significant change in moisture content while the amount of WRC and AWFC increased significantly. In the manufacturing and quality characteristics, there was no noticeable change in thickness and spreadability. Also, wheat cookies containing red ginseng powder didn't show significant differences either and the control plot had the biggest diameter. The change of chromaticity showed that L-value and b-value seemed to significantly decrease while a-value increased a lot In other words, the more ginseng powder was added, the darker its external colour became. In the organic characteristics, the control plot showed the best result in volume, crust, top grain and in almost every part. The volume had the most satisfying result with 6% of red ginseng powder added, and there was not much difference among the groups added with red ginseng powder. Generally, adding up tp 12% of ginseng powder was found best when making cookies.

  • Greying of hairs or Canities (Sheeb) is a hair disorder characterized by premature graying of scalp hair, beard, moustache etc. In Unani system of medicine (USM), the causes of premature greying of hairs, concept behind graying of hairs, principles of treatment, preparations that prevent premature greying of hairs, regimen, systemic and local treatment to stimulate pigmentation and the most interesting point is the use of different type of hair dyes (khizabat) is all illustrated. Classical texts described black, red, blond and white hair dye preparations with formulae and method of use. Initially for the hair graying management, utilizing simple and complex substances from plants, minerals, metals and mixture of these was the main method, which satisfied the desire to change the colour of the hair. With the advancement in chemical science, dyes formulaes, method of formation and application are changed. But due to the awareness about demerits of chemical dyes, people are looking back towards the natural ways to combat hair greying and herbal hair dye is an alternative. This paper is an overview of Unani drugs of local and internal use for hair greying with special attention towards herbal dyes. Most commonly used herbs in khizaab with their actions and constituents has been summarized. This is an effort to globalize the benefits of Unani herbs in hair greying problem. In short, International demand for hair dyes has been steadily growing and there is a wide scope for exploring different aspects of hair greying treatment and dyes in USM.

  • The hand printed cottons of India are historically world-renowned for their rich fast colours, elaborate designs, and matchless quality. Until the discovery of synthetic dyestuffs in the latter part of the nineteenth century, the unsurpassed master dyers of cotton were the craftsmen of India-birthplace of cultivated cotton. The Indian printers and dyers monopolised this arcane art of permeating cotton cloth with richly hued, colour-fast designs, and the fruits of their labour proved hugely influential in international trade and the development of modern textile technologies. This paper focuses on a lesser-known body of hand printed cottons, traditionally produced in rural Rajasthan for everyday use by the local pastoral communities. Drawing on extensive research carried out with the region's Chhipa community of hereditary cloth printers, the complex and multiple applications of mordant, dye and resist are illustrated. Often taking months to complete, the enduring popularity of these labour-intensive hand printed cottons is then discussed, particularly in the light of the hugesocial importance borne by cloth in Rajasthan. Cloth and clothing are widely recognised as indicators of social status, gender, rank, and individual and group affiliations. In addition, cloth and clothing have been established as indicators of social, economic, political and technological change. The paper concludes by drawing attention to the recent influx of machine-printed polyester textiles, often replicating the designs or colours of the traditional locally produced cottons. Thus women of the region, whilst using these modern synthetic textiles as part of newer ways of expressing their identity, also visibly retain the values associated with hand printed cottons and traditional dress codes.

  • This paper is aimed to study the influence of aluminium dross from Thai aluminum casting factory on polypropylene matrix-polymer composite material properties. The summarized experimental results are as follows. An increase in the amount of aluminum dross polymer composite material affected to increase hardness, modulus of elasticity and abrasion resistance. However, the increase of the aluminum dross had no effects to change the yield strength and the melting temperature of the polymer composite material. The aluminum dross also affected to form the crystallinity at $117-122^{\circ}C$ and directly increased the rigid property of the composite materials. The microstructure examination revealed that the aluminum dross was located in a polymer matrix and affected to increase the dark colour of the polymer composite material.

  • Fire is one of the most destructive powers to which a building structure can be subjected, often exposing concrete elements to elevated temperatures. The relative properties of concrete after such an exposure are of significant importance in terms of the serviceability of buildings. Unraveling the heating history of concrete and different cooling regimes is important for forensic research or to determine whether a fire-exposed concrete structure and its components are still structurally sound or not. Assessment of fire-damaged concrete structures usually starts with visual observation of colour change, cracking and spalling. Thus, it is important to know the effect of elevated temperatures on strength retention properties of concrete. This study reports the effect of elevated temperature on the mechanical properties of the concrete specimen with polypropylene fibres and cooled differently under various regimes. In the heating cycle, the specimen were subjected to elevated temperatures ranging from $200^{\circ}C$ to $800^{\circ}C$, in steps of $200^{\circ}C$ with a retention period of 1 hour. Then they were cooled to room temperature differently. The cooling regimes studied include, furnace cooling, air cooling and sudden cooling. After exposure to elevated temperatures and cooled differently, the weight loss, residual compressive and split tensile strengths retention characteristics were studied. Test results indicated that weight and both compressive and tensile strengths significantly reduce, with an increase in temperature and are strongly dependent on cooling regimes adopted.
