젖소에 있어서 분만 후 혈액 및 우유의 성분 변화와 성분간의 상관관계 (Changes of Blood and Milk Components and Correlation among Them after Parturition in Dairy Cows)

  • 본 연구에서 Holstein 유우 78두로부터 분만 후 9주까지 1주 간격으로 혈액과 우유를 채취하여 cholesterol, glucose, 광물질(selenium, Ca, p), vitamin E 및 혈장내 progesterone을 분석하여, 이들 성분의 변화와 성분간의 상관 관계 및 변화 요인에 관하여 조사하였으며, 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 분만 후 9주까지의 각 성분별 평균 수준은 혈액에서 cholesterol, glucose, selenium, Ca, P, vitamin E 및 BUN이 각각 78.8 mg/dl, 62.3 mg/dl, 8.9mg/dl, 7.4 mg/dl, 52.2 ng/ml, $10.3{\mu}g/l$ 및 16.3 mg/dl이었으며, MSe와 MUN은 15.3 ng/ml과 15.8 mg/dl이었다. 2. 혈액내 cholesterol, glucose, selenium, Vitamin E 및 MSe는 분만 후 시일 경과에 따라 증가되었다. 3. 성분간의 유의적 상관관계를 보면 cholesterol은 P와 부(-), selenium과 U과는 정(+)의 상관이 었고, glucose는 P, MSe와 정(+), P는 selenium 와 부(-) 상관이었으며 그리고 BUN과 MUN은 정(+) 상관을 나타내었다. 4. 성분 변화의 요인으로서 유우 나이는 glucose와 selenium, 산차는 selenium과 vitamin E, 유량은 glucose와 MSe 수준에 차이가 나타났으며 청초와 건초 급여간에는 혈액내 Ca와 selenium를 제외 한 성분에서 차이를 보였다. 요소태 질소에서는 MUN에서만 나이와 산차간에 차이가 있었다. 이상의 결과로 분만 후 급여 사료에 따라 혈액 및 우유의 성분에 차이를 보이며, 특히 혈액 및 우유내의 selenium은 분만 후 젖소에는 중요한 요소임을 확인할 수 있었다.

구강 편평세포암에서 E-cadherin 유전자의 과메틸화 (THE HYPERMETHYLATION OF E-CADHERIN GENE IN ORAL SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA)

  • Loss of E-cadherin (E-cad) expression has been found in multiple cancers and is postulated to facilitate tumor cell dissociation and metastais. Promotor methylation may provides an alternative pathway for loss of gene function. This study evaluated the role of hypermethylation in the down-regulation of E-cad in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). We examined the E-cad expression by immunohistochemical staining and detected methylation status by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP) in 20 OSCC tissues. Overally, 12 (60%) cases of hypermethylation of E-cad were detected and we found there were no correlation between methylation and age, histologic grade, lympn node metastasis, tumor size and clinical stage. However, Eleven (73.3%) of 15 samples which was negative for E-cad staining showed hypermethylation of E-cad promotor region. On the other hand, only one (20%) of 5 E-cad positive sample was observed with methylated status. The underexpression of E-cad was found to be related to promotor hypermethylation (p=0.035). In conclusion, we suggest that hypermethylation play a role in inactivation of E-cad gene and may be a appreciable biomarker for diagnosis and treatment of OSCC.

HPV-18 E7 Interacts with Elk-1 Leading to Elevation of the Transcriptional Activity of Elk-1 in Cervical Cancer

  • The human papillomavirus (HPV)-18 E7 (E7) oncoprotein is a major transforming protein that is thought to be involved in the development of cervical cancer. It is well-known that E7 stimulates tumour development by inactivating pRb. However, this alone cannot explain the various characteristics acquired by HPV infection. Therefore, we examined other molecules that could help explain the acquired cancer properties during E7-induced cancer development. Using the yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) method, we found that the Elk-1 factor, which is crucial for cell proliferation, invasion, cell survival, anti-apoptotic activity, and cancer development, binds to the E7. By determining which part of E7 binds to which domain of Elk-1 using the Y2H method, it was found that CR2 and CR3 of the E7 and parts 1-206, including the ETS-DNA domain of Elk-1, interact with each other. As a result of their interaction, the transcriptional activity of Elk-1 was increased, thereby increasing the expression of target genes EGR-1, c-fos, and E2F. Additionally, the colony forming assay revealed that overexpression of Elk-1 and E7 promotes C33A cell proliferation. We expect that the discovery of a novel E7 function as an Elk-1 activator could help explain whether the E7 has novel oncogenic activities in addition to p53 inactivation. We also expect that it will offer new methods for developing improved strategies for cervical cancer treatment.

  • Pulse electric field induced electron emission from ferroelectrics has been studied with Pb$(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3$ ceramics with varying Zr/Ti ratio from 35/65 to 65/35, Electron emission was proved to be concentrated on the electrode edge by emission profile test and emission capture photographs. The 65/35 composition showed largest emission charge in lowest field and lowest emission threshold field. The emission characteristics are closely dependent on their ferroelectric properties in hysteresis curve. Electron emission charge increases with the polarization charge and emission threshold voltage is dependent on coercive field regardless of their composition. But dielectric constant has little relation with emission property. Electron emission charge increases exponentially with pulse electric field irrespective of composition. On the assumption that the surface potential is linear with the pulse electric field, electron emission can be regarded as a field emission at the electrode edge using Fowler-Nordheim plot of ln$(Q_e/E_{fe})$ to $1/E_{fe}$.

몬테칼로 시뮬레이션에 의한 지표면 오염 방사선장에서의 유효선량 평가 (Assessment of Effective Doses in the Radiation Field of Contaminated Ground Surface by Monte Carlo Simulation)

  • 지표에 오염된 방사성핵종의 단위방사능당 유효선량환산계수를 남성과 여성 인형모의피폭체와 MCNP4A 코드를 이용하여 계산하였다. 모사실험은 40 keV에서 10 MeV 영역의 19개 단일 에너지에 대한 유효선량 계산을 수행하였다. 에너지에 따른 단위 선원강도에 대한 유효선량 E를 기존 연구자들의 결과물인 유효선량당량 $H_E$와 비교한 결과, 본 연구의 E값이 USEPA의 FGR에 주어진 $H_E$ 값에 비해 30%의 편차를 보였다. 에너지와 유효선량의 관계를 polynomial fitting을 통해 구한 유효선량 감응함수는 다음과 같다. $f({\varepsilon})[fSv\;m^2]=\;0.0634\;+\;0.727{\varepsilon}-0.0520{\varepsilon}^2+0.00247{\varepsilon}^3$ 여기서, ${\varepsilon}$는 감마선의 에너지(MeV)이다. 감응함수와 ICRP 38의 방사성핵종 붕괴 자료를 이용하여 지표면과 공기 오염의 단위 방사능농도에 대한 유효선량환산계수를 계산한 후 DOSEFACTOR코드를 사용하여 계산한 베타선에 의한 피부선량을 합하여 90개의 중요 핵종들에 대한 환산계수를 평가하여 도표로 제시하였다. 기존 자료들과 비교를 통해 기존 환산계수를 사용할 경우 특히 저에너지 감마선이나 고에너지 베타선을 방출하는 핵종에 대해서 상당한 과소평가가 이루어질 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

자외선 수직형 LED 제작을 위한 Indium Tin Oxide 기반 반사전극 (Indium Tin Oxide Based Reflector for Vertical UV LEDs)

  • In this paper, we studied a p-type reflector based on indium tin oxide (ITO) for vertical-type ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UV LEDs). We investigated the reflectance properties with different deposition methods. An ITO layer with a thickness of 50 nm was deposited by two different methods, sputtering and e-beam evaporation. From the measurement of the optical reflection, we obtained 70% reflectance at a wavelength of 382 nm by means of sputtering, while only 30% reflectance resulted when using the e-beam evaporation method. Also, the light output power of a $1mm{\times}1mm$ vertical chip created with the sputtering method recorded a twofold increase over a chip created with e-beam evaporation method. From the measurement of the root mean square (RMS), we obtained a RMS value 1.3 nm for the ITO layer using the sputtering method, while this value was 5.6 nm for the ITO layer when using the e-beam evaporation method. These decreases in the reflectance and light output power when using the e-beam evaporation method are thought to stem from the rough surface morphology of the ITO layer, which leads to diffused reflection and the absorption of light. However, the turn-on voltage and operation voltage of the two samples showed identical results of 2.42 V and 3.5 V, respectively. Given these results, we conclude that the two ITO layers created by different deposition methods showed no differences in the electric properties of the ohmic contact and series resistance.

  • The main purpose of this study is to research ways for waste reduction in manufacturing, materials regeneration and clean production in apparel manufacturing in Taiwan, in order to achieve 3E: Efficiency, Economy and Environmental Protection. Specifically, this study hopes to address the following three areas: (1) To study the processing technologies which can turn apparel wastes to resources (2) To increase the efficiency in the use of energy and resources in apparel production (3) To establish a system for improving the recovery from unwanted apparel in Taiwan, in order to improve environmental protection and to reduce pollution.
