Imaging dose evaluations on Image Guided Radiation Therapy (영상유도방사선치료시 확인 영상의 흡수선량평가)

  • Purpose : Evaluating absorbed dose related to 2D and 3D imaging confirmation devices Materials and Methods : According to the radiographic projection conditions, absorbed doses are measured that 3 glass dosimeters attached to the centers of 0', 90', 180' and 270' in the head, thorax and abdomen each with Rando phantom are used in field size $26.6{\times}20$, $15{\times}15$. In the same way, absorbed doses are measured for width 16cm and 10cm of CBCT each. OBI(version 1.5) system and calibrated glass dosimeters are used for the measurement. Results : AP projection for 2D imaging check, In $0^{\circ}$ degree absorbed doses measured in the head were $1.44{\pm}0.26mGy$ with the field size $26.6{\times}20$, $1.17{\pm}0.02mGy$ with the field size $15{\times}15$. With the same method, absorbed doses in the thorax were $3.08{\pm}0.86mGy$ to $0.57{\pm}0.02mGy$ by reducing field size. In the abdomen, absorbed dose were reduced $8.19{\pm}0.54mGy$ to $4.19{\pm}0.09mGy$. Finally according to the field size, absorbed doses has decreased by average 5~12%. With Lateral projection, absorbed doses showed average 5~8% decrease. CBCT for 3D imaging check, CBDI in the head were $4.39{\pm}0.11mGy$ to $3.99{\pm}0.13mGy$ by reducing the width 16cm to 10cm. In the same way in thorax the absorbed dose were reduced $34.88{\pm}0.93(10.48{\pm}0.09)mGy$ to $31.01{\pm}0.3(9.30{\pm}0.09)mGy$ and $35.99{\pm}1.86mGy$ to $32.27{\pm}1.35mGy$ in the abdomen. With variation of width 16cm and 10cm, they showed 8~11% decrease. Conclusion : By means of reducing 2D field size, absorbed dose were decreased average 5~12% in 3D width size 8~11%. So that it is necessary for radiation therapists to recognize systematical management for absorbed dose for Imaging confirmation. and also for frequent CBCT, it is considered whether or not prescribed dose for RT refer to imaging dose.

  • In this paper, design and performance evaluation of Tapered Slot Antenna for IR-UWB which propagates impulse radio is performed. TSA which has directional characteristic in UWB band should have low radiation loss and minimized impulse radiation distortion. In order to achieve these objectives, the paper designed wide band Impedance transformer and microstrip-slotline transit region structured TSA feeder line. By using the fabricated TSA, the radiation pattern was measured in the radio anechoic chamber. Pulse fidelity and distortion equation was induced to evaluate time domain characteristics according to the impulse radiation. Pulse fidelity of Impulse radiation show favorable results more than 93% within ${\pm}30^{\circ}$ beam width.

  • The emission test a domestic fabricated cathode is conducted using an easy-replaceable-emitter-type test bench. A simple cylindrical button type cathode is dropped vertically into a cathode cup holder. The cathode is heated by a tungsten wire heater located around the cup holder. The cathode temperature is measured by an optical pyrometer. A high voltage pulse power supply gives the anode-cathode gap voltage up to 20 kV with the pulse width of 15 us. The emitted current from the cathode is captured at a faraday cup and is measured using current transformer and oscilloscope. The test bench is installed in the vacuum chamber with easy access door and, therefore, the cathode can be easily replaceable. We confirmed the emission current density of $15A/cm^2$ and $80A/cm^2$ with a domestic fabricated B-type cathode and a Scandate cathode, respectively. The detailed test result for the cathode will be presented.

HRTEM Observations on ZnSe/GaAs Interfaces Grown by MBE (MBE로 성장시킨 ZnSe/GaAs의 고분해능 TEM에 의한 계면관찰)

  • The interfacial structures of ZnSe/GaAs which were grown by single chamber MBE at $300^{\circ}C$ were investigated by high resolution transmission electron microscope working at 300 kV with resolution of 0.18 nm. The interfaces of ZnSe/GaAs whose thickness is 2,700 nm are wavy and extensive stacking faults were formed in ZnSe epilayer but the interfaces maintained the coherency with the substrate GaAs. The stacking faults are formed in {111} planes and their sizes are $10{\sim}20nm$ in length and two or three atomic layer in width with the density of $10^9/cm^2$. Micortwins and moire fringes are also observed. However. in 10 nm ZnSe epilayer, the interfaces are pseudomorphic and only moire fringes are observed in local areas. The cylindrical defects which are perpendicular to the interface with $50{\sim}60nm$ in length, were observed with the interval of 50 nm at ZnSe/GaAs interfaces in 2,700nm epilayer. The origin and character of these defects are unknown, however, they played a role of producing the structural defects at the interfaces.

  • The experimental study on the effect of axial clearance between the tip of impeller blades and stationary shroud has been performed. The investigated compressor, which is a part of a small auxiliary power unit engine, consists of a curved inlet, a centrifugal impeller, a channel diffuser and a plenum chamber. It was designed for a total pressure ratio of 4.3 and an efficiency of $77\%$ at design speed of 60,000 rpm. The experiments are carried out in an open-loop centrifugal compressor test rig driven by a turbine. For the four different clearance ratios Cr(clearance/impeller tip width) of 6.25, 10.93, 15.60 and 20.30 percent, the overall performance data are obtained at $97\%,\;90\%$ and $80\%$ of the design speed. The results show the overall pressure ratio decrease of $7.7\%$ and the efficiency loss of $8.7\%$ across the variation of clearance ratio near the design speed. It also indicates that the influence of tip clearance became weaker as the flow rate is reduced and the stable operating range is not significantly influenced by the change of clearance ratio.

  • In this paper, design of UWB Antenna which propagate impulse by pulse fidelity and distortion equation was induced and applied. UWB Antenna which has directional characteristic in UWB band should have low radiation loss and impulse radiation distortion. The Plastic Cracking Properties of Fly Ash Concrete with Various Curing Conditions (양생조건에 따른 플라이애쉬 콘크리트의 소성수축균열 특성)

  • In this study, the property and plastic cracking pattern of concrete were compared and analyzed with the replacement ratio of fly ash 0, 5, 10, 15, 20% by cement weight. And curing conditions of concrete were given variously such as indoors(with wind speed as 0, 300, 500m/min), outdoors and chamber. The hydration temperature had a tendency to decrease as the replacement ratio of fly ash increased, and in the case of the wind speed 0m/min, it was showed that the moment that the amount of evaporation of water from surface of reference concrete was more than the volume of bleeding was 90 min since casting concrete. The time that the crack initiated had a tendency to be more quickly as the replacement ratio of fly ash increased. The number, length, width and area of crack in the indoor curing, exposed outdoor curing, enclosed outdoor curing had a tendency to decrease as the replacement ratio of fly ash increased. The crack had a tendency to decrease in sequence of exposed outdoor, enclosed outdoor curing, indoors curing. The outbreak of cracking by the change of temperature and humidity was affected by relative humidity more than temperature and the cracking had a tendency to increase as relative humidity lowered.

  • The characteristics of $CO_2$ exchange between plant and human modules, absorption rate of NO$_2$, and growth of lettuce were examined in an urban-type plant factory(UPF). With 150 lettuce plants, $CO_2$ concentrations of plant module were 600 ~ 700$\mu$mol mol$^{-1}$ at average leaf weight of 130g.plant$^{-1}$ and 900~1100$\mu$mol.mol$^{-1}$ at 75g.plant$^{-1}$ for one and two persons' stay in the human module, respectively. When the air of 0.13, 0.30 and 0.45 $\mu$molㆍmol$^{-1}$ NO$_2$ in a human module was circulated ON/OFF 10/20min between the human and plant modules, $NO_2$ decrement in the chamber during 10 min was 0.040, 0.109, and 0.149 $\mu$mol, respectively. The lettuces grown at 0.45 $\mu$molㆍmol$^{-1}$ $NO_2$ during experimental period showed no significant differences in growth factors such as leaf width, leaf length, leaf area and fresh weigh, and in the quality between treated and control.

  • In-cylinder spray flow motion plays an important in the adjustment of mixture preparation with a fundamental spray characteristics and in-cylinder flow field well in direct-injection gasoline engine. In this study, the fundamental spray characteristics such as mean drop size, velocity distribution, spray angle were measured and in-cylinder spray flow motion was visualized in order to optimize intake port, piston top land and combustion chamber shapes in the development stage of mass-produced G야 engine. For these experiments, the PDPA measurements and Mie scattering technique were used for detailed spray characteristics and in-cylinder spray motions were obtained by use of ICCD camera through the single-cylinder optical engine. From the experimental results, the test injector shows a good low-end linearity between the dynamic flow and fuel injection pulse width and the fuel spray of 20mm or less in SMD with good spray symmetry. In addition, the in-cylinder tumble flow has more effect on the homogeneous mixture formation than that of in-cylinder swirl flow at early injection mode and the in-cylinder swirl flow plays a better role of stratified mixture preparation than tumble flow at late injection mode.

Fabrication and Operation Testing of an Air-cored Pulse Transformer for Charging a High Voltage Pulse Forming Line (고압 펄스 성형라인 충전을 위한 공심형 고압 펄스트랜스의 제작과 동작 특성)

  • A high voltage air-cored helical strip/wire type pulse transformer has been fabricated for charging of a high voltage pulse forming line. As a primary coil, copper strip of 25mm width was wound helically around a MC nylon cylinder. For a secondary coil, copper enameled wire of 1mm diameter was wound around conical cylinder in order to provide insulation between two windings. The coupling coefficient of 0.53 was obtained when two coils were combined coaxially in the insulation oil filled chamber. Voltage gain and energy transfer efficiency were investigated by varying the parameters of primary and secondary circuit. Test results shows that the voltage gain increases up to 17 with increasing the primary capacitance up to 200nF. And highest energy transfer efficiency of 44% was obtained when the dual resonant operation condition was nearly satisfied. The pulse transformer developed in this study can be used for charging the middle conductor of a Blumlein pulse forming line.
