A series of hybrid rocket combustion experiments were carried out with PMMA/GOx changing diameter and length of the disk installed at pre-chamber. The disk can generate vortex shedding flow and change flow conditions prior to entering the fuel grain which could also alter the combustion characteristics and pressure oscillations. Isolated dimple-like surface roughness patterns distributed all over the fuel surface, which can be thought of as a realization of the inherent flow instability. It is very likely that the formation of cell structures is originated from the modification of boundary layer characteristics of an entering oxidizer flow caused by a blowing effect mainly taking place near the wall. This coincided with our LES results. It would be a meaningful basis to understand combustion instability of hybrid rocket motor.
Model pile teats, using large calibration chamber in which the stress state and the relative density can be controlled, were performed in order to study on the effect of soil condition on the behavior of open-ended steel pipe pile. The model pipe pile was made up of two pipes to separately measure each component of bearing capacity of open -ended steel pipe pile. According to the tests results, pile plugging and driving resistance of the pile installed in sand were primarily dependent on the horizontal stress and the relative density. Plug bearing capacity, outside skin fricition and total bearing capacity were also mainly dependent on the horizontal stress and relative density. Moreover, the ratio of the horizontal stress acting on the outside wall of open -ended pipe pile after installation to the original horizontal stress was not nearly affected by original value of horizontal stress. It is bigger than one in the case of dense deposit, equal to one for medium deposit, and smaller than one for very loose deposit. It seems to be mainly dependent on the relative density for a given soil.

When conducting excavations after burying the soft ground, even if the retaining walls are installed, failure often occurs within backfill. In order to minimize the occurrences of failures, model test was performed after the installation of stabilizing piles to investigate the stabilizing effects. The model chamber is set up with clay foundation reinforced with and without stabilizing piles. During the excavation of clay foundation, the subsidence, pore water pressure, and soil pressure along the excavation were measured. As a result of the model test, the increase of excavation levels and the reduction of subsidence of back ground were observed with the stabilizing piles, compared to those without the stabilizing piles. The installation of stabilizing piles does not influence the pore water pressure change, but induces less subsidence rate. In addition, the depth of excavation has a significant effect on the back ground and it was evaluated that the maximum subsidence occurs as it is closer to the excavation point.

For the development of ecological sound proof wall, successful seed germination and growth of plants are very important. In our present study, we observed germination of thirty five different seed species in growth chamber at $24^{\circ}C$, humidity 60% and alternation of 12 hours photoperiods. Germination of same seeds were carried out at room temperature on 6:4, 7:3, 8:2, and 9:1 proportion of pure and mineral soils respectively. Out of studied species, maximum germination was recorded for Perennial penant (92%), followed by Brassica napus (86%), and Silene armeria (82%). The measurement of root/shoot length showed, maximum root/shoot length for Perennial penant, followed by perennial sonata and Rebolsentri sp. Based on germination percentage and root/shoot length of germinating seeds, we considered Perennial penant, perennial sonata and Rebolsentri sp. were proper species for the construction of ecological sound proof walls

Computer simulation was performed using the SIMION program to develop an electron gun for MCP cleaning. The target, MCP, is located 180mm from the source of the electron gun, and the diameter of the MCP is approximately 20mm. Therefore, we tried to find the condition that the beam diameter of electrons reaching the MCP is to be 20mm using four variables such as E, ${\phi}$, d1, d2, where the E is the energy of the electron reaching the MCP, the ${\phi}$ is the diameter of the extractor, and the d1 and the d2 are the distance from the electron source to the end of the extractor tube, and to the wall of chamber, respectively. As a result of simulation, we figuried out that the E and the d2 have little effect on the beam diameter. On the other hand, we also found that the beam diameters were very sensitive to the d1 and varied relatively large with respect to the ${\phi}$, and the d1 was the secondary order function of the ${\phi}$. Therefore we found that this function will allow us to design electron guns that are suitable for the purposes of this study.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of a simple and practical shielding device to reduce the fetal dose for a pregnant patient undergoing radiation therapy of brain metastasis. Materials and Methods: The dose to the fetus was evaluated by simulating the treatments using the anthropomorphic phantom. The prescription dose at mid-brain is $300cGy{\times}10$ fractions with 6 MV photon with $18{\times}22cm^2$ field size. The additional shielding devices to reduce the fetal dose are a shielding wall, cerrobend plates and lead (Pb) sheets over acrylic bridge. Various points of measurement with off-field distance were detected by using ion-chamber (30, 40, 50, and 60 cm) with and without the shielding devices and TLD (30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 cm) only with the shielding devices. Results: The doses to the fetus without shielding were 3.20, 3.21, 1.44, 0.90 cGy at the distances of 30, 40, 50, and 60 cm from the treatment field edge. With shielding, the doses were reduced to 0.88, 0.60, 0.35, 0.25 cGy, and the ratio of the shielding effect varied from 70% to 80%. TLD results were 1.8, 1.2, 0.8, 1.2, and 0.8 cGy (70 cm). The total dose to the fetus was expected to be under 1 cGy during the entire treatment. Conclusion: The essential point during radiation therapy of pregnant patient would be minimizing the fetal dose. 10 cGy to 20 cGy is the threshold dose for fetal radiation effects. Our newly developed device reduced the fetal dose far below the safe level. Therefore, our additional shielding devices are useful and effective to reduce the fetal dose.

This was study carried out to investigate the effect of calcium on spontaneous contraction and electrical activity induced by ethanol in gastric smooth muscle. After peeling off the mucous membrane from the isolated whole stomach of 102 cats, two kinds of small muscle preparations $(2.0{\times}0.2\;cm)$, one longitudinal and the other circular, were excised from the fundus, the corpus and the antrum portion of each whole stomach specimen. The isometric contraction of the small muscle preparation was measured in a cylinder-shaped chamber filled with Krebs-Ringer-dextrose solution (pH 7.4, temperature $36{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$) bubbling with 5% $CO_2$ in $O_2$. A large muscle preparation $(5.0{\times}1.2\;cm)$ was excised from the anterior wall of the corpus-antrum portion of the same specimen in 72 of 102 cats. The gastric electrical activity (slow wave and spike potential) was monopolarly recorded by four capillary electrodes (Ag-AgCl), of which two were placed on the corpus and two on the antrum, in a muscle chamber filled with the same solution as described above. Changes in the amplitude of the contraction, frequency of the gastric slow wave and the production of the spike potential were observed after adding ethanol and/or under the treatments with verapamil, $CaCl_2$ and Ca-free Krebs-Ringer-dextrose solution. The results were as follows: 1) After adding ethanol, the spontaneous phasic contraction of the corpus was reduced dose-dependently (0.125-2.0%), which was totally abolished by higher concentrations (2.0-8.0%) of ethanol. 2) The corporal phasic contraction was also completely abolished by verapamil $(3{\times}10^{-5}\;M)$ or Ca-free Krebs-Ringer-dextrose solution. The contraction was increased by $CaCl_2\;(1.8{\times}10^{-3}\;M)$, but the inhibitory effect of ethanol on the contraction persisted even under the treatment with $CaCl_2$. 3) At higher concentrations, ethanol caused tonic contraction of both preparations from the fundus, the corpus and the antrum in a dose-dependent manner. The tonic contraction of the fundus produced by ethanol was not influenced by $CaCl_2$ or verapamil, whereas the tonic contraction was not produced by ethanol in tile Ca-free solution. 4) Frequency of gastric slow wave was decreased dose-dependently by the addition of ethanol (0.25-1.0%), and tile slow wave was not produced by higher concentration of ethanol (2.0%). 5) The frequency of slow wave was significantly reduced by verapamil only and the inhibitory influence of ethanol on the slow wave frequency was reinforced by verapamil. 6) The treatment of $CaCl_2$ increased significantly the slow wave frequency, and attenuated the inhibitory effect of ethanol on the frequency. It is therefore suggested that ethanol regulates the phasic contraction and the production of slow wave by interfering with the transport of calcium in the stomach muscle of the cat.

I. Purpose In special cases of Total Body Irradiation(TBI), Half Body Irradiation(HBI), Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, E-Wing's sarcoma, lymphosarcoma and neuroblastoma a large field can be used clinically. The dose distribution of a large field can use the measurement result which gets from dose distribution of a small field (standard SSD 100cm, size of field under $40{\times}40cm2$) in the substitution which always measures in practice and it will be able to calibrate. With only the method of simple calculation, it is difficult to know the dose and its uniformity of actual body region by various factor of scatter radiation. II. Method & Materials In this study, using Multidata Water Phantom from standard SSD 100cm according to the size change of field, it measures the basic parameter (PDD,TMR,Output,Sc,Sp) From SSD 180cm (phantom is to the bottom vertically) according to increasing of a field, it measures a basic parameter. From SSD 350cm (phantom is to the surface of a wall, using small water phantom. which includes mylar capable of horizontal beam's measurement) it measured with the same method and compared with each other. III. Results & Conclusion In comparison with the standard dose data, parameter which measures between SSD 180cm and 350cm, it turned out there was little difference. The error range is not up to extent of the experimental error. In order to get the accurate data, it dose measures from anthropomorphous phantom or for this objective the dose measurement which is the possibility of getting the absolute value which uses the unlimited phantom that is devised especially is demanded. Additionally, it needs to consider ionization chamber use of small volume and stem effect of cable by a large field.
This study investigates a simple mathematical model for the quantitative estimation of regional myocardial blood flow in experimental canine coronary artery thrombosis using Rb-82 dynamic myocardial positron emission tomography. The coronary thrombosis was induced using the new catheter technique by narrowing the lumen of coronary vessel gradually, which finally led to partial obstruction of coronary artery. Ten Rb-82 dynamic myocardial PET scans were performed sequentially for each experiment using our 5, 10 and 20 second acquisition protocol, respectively, and three regions of interest were drawn on the transaxial slices, one on left ventricular chamber for input function and the other two on normal and decreased perfusion segments for the flow estimation in those regions. Single compartment model has been applied to the measured sets of regional PET data, and the rate constants of influx to myocardial tissue were calculated for regional myocardial flow estimates with the three parameter fits of raw data by the Levenberg-Marquardt method. The results showed that, (1) single compartment model suggested by Kety-Schmidt could be used for the simple estimation of regional myocardial blood flow, (2) the calculated regional myocardial blood flow estimates were dependent on the selection of input function, which reflected partial volume effect and left ventricular wall motion, and (3) mathematically fitted input and tissue time activity curves were more suitable than the direct application of the measured data in terms of convergence.
The study was undertaken to examine the possibility of the involvement of $K^+$ channels in the mechanism of relaxant-action of imipramine on the isolated canine detrusor muscle strips. Canine urinary bladder were isolated, and smooth muscle strips of 15 mm long and 2 mm wide from the mid-portion of anterior wall were made in the Tyrode solution of $0{\sim}4^{\circ}C$. The strips were prepared for isometric myography in Biancani's isolated muscle chamber containing 1 ml of Tyrode solution, which was maintained with pH 7.4 by aeration with $95%\;O_2/5%CO_2\;at\;37^{\circ}C$. RP 52891, a non-specific $K^+$ channel opener, concentration-dependently suppressed the spontaneous phasic contractions of the detrusor strips. Imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, also reduced the spontaneous contractions in a concentration-dependent manner. RP 52891 was more potent than imipramine(p<0.05), and Imipramine was more efficient than RP 52891(p<0.05).Procaine, a voltage-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker, glibenclamide, an ATP-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker, and apamin, a calcium-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker antagonized the relaxant effect of RP 52891, but not of imipramine. Imipramine reduced the electric field stimulation (EFS) -induced contractions concentration-dependently. None of the $K^+$ channel blockers employed for this study, procaine, glibenclamide or apamin antagonized the inhibitory action of imipramine on the EFS-induced contraction. These results suggest that in canine detrusor, the $K^+$ channels of the characteristics of voltage-dependent, ATP-dependent and/or calcium-dependent are exist, and the inhibitory action of imipramine on the contractility of the detrusor is independent from the $K^+$ channels.
