In this study it had an excellent optical characteristic, it followed in the creation rate and the refractive index regulation to the ease. Chalcogenide produced the $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ thin film and the $MgF_{2}$ thin film. It measured thin film plan simulation, and the thin film has a 1 -dimensional photonic band gap. The chalcogenide $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ thin film was measured with the fact that it has a high refractive index (2.6~2.9). The $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ and $MgF_{2}$ thin film, have a high refractive index and a low refractive index, it used a simulation and planed period 5-pairs structure, the result was from 500nm to 800nm. It will be able to confirm the characteristic which most of the incidence light reflects, the He-Ne (632.8nm) laser was irradiated in the thin film which stabilized the thin film. $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ (high refractive index layer: H) and $MgF_{2}$ (low refractive index layer: L) results which plans the thin film with glass/LHLHLLHLHL/air structure, 632.8nm against transmitance, increased a lot. An application possibility with the filter against a specific wave length was confirmed.
Ge-Ga-S glasses, contrary to other well-known chalcogenide glasses, show high rare-earth solubility. Raman spectra of GeS2-Ga2S3 glasses showed that two peaks at 260 cm-1 and 385 cm-1 increased in intensity with the addition of Ga2S3. These peaks are associated with the vibration of Ge-Ge bonds and edge-shared [GsS4] tetrahedra, respectively. In GeS2-Ga2S3-La2S3 glasses, the peak at 260 cm-1 decreased in intensity with addition of La2S3 and the one at 375 cm-1 due to the vibration of tetrahedra with non-bridging sulfurs increased. It indicated that La, or rare-earths in general, can easily be dissolved into the glass network as charge compensators for non-bridging sulfurs which were formed through the dissociation of Ge-Ge bonds and edge-shared [GaS4] tetrahedra. Since no such structural modification is expected in glasses as Ga-As-S, these peculiar transitions on the connection scheme in Ga-containing chalcogenide glasses seem to be playing the most important role on the enhanced rare-earth solubility.
The purpose of this research was th evaluate conductivity of electricity of Ge-Se-Bi system Chalcogenide glass as a amorphous semiconductor by observing its dissolution and crystallization. In this experiment. Ge-Se-Bi metal powder in the rage of $Ge_{12-25}$, $Se_{65-85}$, $Bi_{2.5-15}$ was used as the sample ore. The ore was. put into a vaccous quartz tube and then melted. The condition of heat treatment was to dispose it to $1000^{\circ}C$ heat for 10 hours and then rapidly quenched it at $3834^{\circ}C$/see. The crystallization of the fused sample ripened as the change of temperature and time, after the crystal core was formell. At that time it was possible to observe the state that $Bi_2Se_3$ and $GeSe_2$ were crystallized. In the experiment of making memberance, the memberance was produced by using the previously experimented bulk sample. And decrystalization was well progressed when Ge was over 15 at %, Se was over 70 at %, and Bi was under 10 at%. As for bulk. when Ge was fixed to 20 at %, the conducting of electricity was increased as Bi gained at %. In the case of memberance, the conductivity was much more increased than that of bulk sample as the increase of at the increase of at % of Bi. In the experiment on $Ge_{20}$, $Se_{77.5}$ and $Bi_{2.5}$, the crystallization sswas most vigorous when they were kept at $330^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours.
Chalcogenide glasses with compositions of Ge10Se90-xTex(X=0~50 at.%) were prepared in order to investigate the effects of Te substitution on the transmission characteristics of Ge-Se glasses in the 8~12 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ wavelength region. Absorption coefficients were observed to decrease with Te addition, indicating the improved transmission capabilities of Ge-Se-Te glasses as compared to binary Ge-Se glasses. XRD analysis of crystallized glasses suggested the formation of weaker Se-Te and/or Te-Te bonds with addition of Te substituting for Se in stronger Se-Se bonds. Incorporation of Te in excess of 20at% resulted in the formation of hexagonal Te phases when crystallized. It is speculated that the presence of Te-Te bonds with highly metallic bond character resulted in the enhanced crystallization tendencies of glasses. Fromation of Te-rich chains through gradual replacement of Se-Se with Se-Te and/or Te-Te bonds was further supported by decreases in glass transition and crystallization temperatures.
In this study, $CuInSe_{2}$ (CISe) and $CuInZnSe_{2}$ (CIZSe) thin films were prepared on Corning 1737 glass by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering from binary chalcogenide mixed powder targets. The targets were initially prepared by mixing appropriate weights of CuSe, InSe powder and various ZnSe contents. From the film bulk analysis result, it is observed that Zn concentration in the films increases proportionally with the addition of ZnSe in the sputtering targets. Under optimized conditions, CISe and CIZSe thin films grow as a chalcopyrite structure with strong (112), (220/204) and (312/116) reflections. Films are found to exhibit a high absorption coefficient of $10^{4}$$cm^{-1}$. An increasing of optical band gap from 1.0 eV (CISe) to 1.25 eV (CIZSe) is found to be proportional with an increasing of Zn concentration as expected. All films have a p-type semiconductor characteristic with a carrier concentration in the order of 1014 $cm^{-3}$, a mobility about $10^{1}$$cm^{2{\cdot}-1}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and a resistivity at the range of $10^{2}-10^{6}$ W${\cdot}$m.

In an effort to evaluate the practicability of an imprinting technique for amorphous chalcogenide film in Ge-based compositions, we investigate the deformation behavior of the surface of amorphous $GeSe_2$ film deposited via a thermal evaporation route according to varying static loads applied at elevated temperatures. We observe that, under these static loading conditions, crystallization tends to occur on its surface relatively more easily than in As-based $As_2Se_3$ films. As for the present $GeSe_2$ film, higher processing temperatures are required in order to make its surface reflect the given stamp patterns well; however, in this case, its surface becomes partially crystallized in the monoclinic $GeSe_2$ phase. The increased vulnerability of this amorphous $GeSe_2$ film toward surface crystallization under static loading, when compared with the $As_2Se_3$ counterpart, is explained in terms of the topological aspects of its amorphous structure.
Dy $L_3$-edge XANES and EXAFS spectra of chalcogenide Ge-As-S glass doped with ca. 0.2 wt% dysprosium have been investigated along with some reference Dy-containing crystals. Amplitude of the white-line peak in XANES spectrum of the glass sample turns out to be stronger than that of other reference crystals, i.e., $DY_2S_3,\;Dy_2O_3\;and\;DyBr_3$. It has been verified from the Dy $L_3$-edge EXAFS spectra that a central Dy atom is surrounded by $6.7{\pm}0.5$ sulfur atoms in its first coordination shell in the Ge-As-S glass, which is relatively smaller than 7.5 of the $Dy_2S_3$ crystal. Averaged Dy-S inter-atomic-distance of the glass ($2.78{\pm}0.01{\AA}$) also turns out to be somewhat shorter than that of the $Dy_2S_3$ crystal ($2.82{\pm}0.01{\AA}$). Such nanostructural changes occurring at Dy atoms imply there being stronger covalency of Dy-S chemical bonds in the Ge-As-S glass than in the crystal counterpart. The enhanced covalency in the nanostructural environment of $Dy^{3+}$ ions inside the glass would then be responsible for optical characteristics of the $4f{\leftrightarrow}4f$ transitions of the dopants, i.e., increase of oscillator strengths and spontaneous radiative transition probabilities.

Infrared Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy (IR-SNOM) is an extremely powerful analytical instrument since it combines IR spectroscopy's high chemical specificity with SNOM's high spatial resolution. In order to do this in the infrared, specialty chalcogenide glass fibers were fabricated and their ends tapered to generate SNOM probes. The fiber tips were installed in a modified near field microscope and both inorganic and biological samples illuminated with the tunable output from a free-electron laser located at Vanderbilt University. Both topographical and IR spectral images were simultaneously recorded with a resolution of ${\sim}50\;nm$ and ${\sim}100\;nm$, respectively. Unique spectroscopic features were identified in all samples, with spectral images exhibiting resolutions of up to ${\lambda}/60$, or at least 30 times better than the diffraction limited lens-based microscopes. We believe that IR-SNOM can provide a very powerful insight into some of the most important bio-medical research topics.
