  • The purpose of the study was to obtain the basic data on the self-adjusting ability of the support panty stockings. Ten healthy women in the twenties were selected as subjects and clothing pressure of 9 support panty stockings made of single covered yarn (SCY) and double covered yarn (DCY) were measured under the standard environmental condition for the study. Data was analysed statistically according to body postures, sides, and parks. The results were as follows: Clothing pressure according to body posture was order of 'sitting-on-a-chair', 'stepping-up-a-stair', and 'standing'. High clothing pressure was obtained in the parts of calf ($9.4gf/cm^2$) in 'standing' and knee (9.7 and $16.5gf/cm^2$) in both 'stepping-up-a-stair' and 'sitting-on-a-chair', respectively. The order of clothing pressure with body sides was 'front', 'side', and 'back'. The highest clothing pressure was knee ($18.8gf/cm^2$) on the front, thigh ($8.8gf/cm^2$) on the side, and calf ($6.4gf/cm^2$) on the back. Clothing pressure of DCY at abdomen and knee was a little higher than those of SCY 3. In terms of material structure variation, clothing pressure of thigh, calf and ankle with SCY was a little higher than those with DCY, while clothing pressure of abdomen and knee with DCY was a little higher than those with SCY.

  • The substitution reaction and structrue of products obtained from the reaction of Equatorial-Skew-[Co(TRDTRA)($OH_2$)] (TRDTRA = trimethylenediaminetriacetate) with $CN^-, NO^{-}_{2}$ and $NCS^-$ ions have been investigated by means of electronic absorption spectroscopy and theoretical calculation based on the Yamatera's theory. According to kinetic data, the substitution reaction order for the complexes such as $CN^-, NO^{-}_{2}$ and $NCS^-$ was the first order, respectively, and overall reaction order was second order. It has been determined that the structure of products having $CN^{-} and NO^{-}_{2}$ ions was Polar-Chair type complexes which were accompanying with isomerization and having $NCS^-$ ion was Equatorial-Skew type complex which was not accompanying with isomerization.

  • Squatting of agricultural work can cause musculoskeletal disorders due to excessive pressure and rotational force on the knee joint In order to improve the assistive chair used in squatting agricultural work so that it can be used in a narrow groove, it is intended to improve the musculoskeletal harm of squatting work by attaching a spring on the assistive chair. Therefore, in the presenty study, 3D drawing was done using ProEngineer (3D), and a mock-up was produced and tested. Using pro-Engineer, it was judged that it was rare for plastic to be broken by a spring, so the analysis was conducted with a focus on springs. It was found that the structure that can absorb the shock according to the rigidity of the tape spring and balance the body is that the power to withstand the load of the weight is distributed as a whole when five springs are used. Electromyography was measured using ME600 (Mega Electronics, Finland) Measuring equipment attached to the waist, thighs, calves, and shins. EMG values were measured and compared with the prototype in two ways, when the worker did not wear the product and when he wore an existing product on the market. As a result of the experiment when using the prototype, the maximum EMG value for each part is considered to be helpful in preventing musculoskeletal diseases as the amount of muscle used is reduced in the waist, thighs, calves, and shins.

  • The crystal structure of $N-({\alpha}-dimethyl\;{\beta}-hydroxy)ethyl\;N'-cyclohexyl\;thiourea,\;C_{ll}H_{22}N_2OS)$, has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with a = 10.33(3), b = 11.82(3), c = 22.57(4)${\AA}$ and Z = 8. A total of 1414 observed reflections collected by the Weissenberg photographs and was solved by heavy atom method and refined by block diagonal least-squares methods to the R value of 0.13. The cyclohexane ring has a normal chair conformation and the thiourea unit is planar. The primary alcoholic group O-H bonded to C(l) makes an intramolecular hydrogen bond with N(2), which leads to stablize the molecule. There are two independent hydrogen bonds in the structure. One of them is of the type N-H${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$O intramolecular hydrogen bond with the length 2.71${\AA}$, another is of the type O-H${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$S intermolecular hydrogen bond with the length 3.21${\AA}$ parallel to the b axis. Apart from the hydrogen bonding system the molecules are held together by van der Waals forces in the crystal.

  • Design has been proceeding to 21 century undertaking the many-sided and complicated characteristics of the modern industrialized society much more heavily comparing to past. The rapid change of technology and media of communication faces the new concept of relationship between users and environment, and newly developed material leads designers to change the way of building concept and the process of designing. Especially the important points of user-friendly and environment-friendly approaching for designing influences over choosing, controlling meterials and forming the structure and shape organically, or simply. From the tendency of chairs designed in 1990s the very adaptable new material shows both the unlimited possibility for new design is in the turn of this century, but also it can be analogized that 'the design which can make users think' will be the philosophical basis for future desigv.

  • A 38-year-old man fell from a chair with a chopstick in his hand. The chopstick penetrated his left eye. He noticed pain, swelling, and numbness around his left eye. On physical examination, a linear wound was noted at the medial aspect of the left eyelid. Noncontrast computed tomography (CT) study showed a linear hypodense structure extending from the medial aspect of the left orbit to the occipital bone, suggesting a foreign body. This foreign body was hyperdense relative to normal parenchyma. From a CT scan with 3-dimensional reconstruction, the foreign body was found to be passing through the optic canal into the cranium. The clear plastic chopstick was withdrawn without difficulty. The patient was discharged home 3 weeks after his surgery. A treatment plan for a transorbital penetrating injury should be determined by a multidisciplinary team, with input from neurosurgeons and ophthalmologists.

  • Concerned with ambiguous stereochemistry assignment of natural (+)-glabridin, absolute configurations of (${\pm}$)-glabridin enantiomers were studied with synthetic glabridin. Synthetic glabridin enantiomers were separated by semi-preparative Sumi-chiral column chromatography, and characterized by UV-Vis and NMR spectroscopy. Three-dimensional molecular structure of glabridin was obtained as equatorial Ph-3 half chair chroman ring from semi-empirical PM3 calculation, and refined by coupling constants in $^1H$ NMR spectrum. Finally, absolute configurations of two enantiomers were determined by circular dichroism spectroscopy based on the empirical helicity rules. Absolute configuration of natural (+)-glabridin was confirmed as (R)-glabridin, as known.

  • The chairs are one of the most important furniture in this modern society, as we know that history of furniture is made of history of the chairs. Among the chairs, the stool, which made by only sit and legs, forms the basis of the chairs. The stool plays an important part in the human body to support and also help to make an agile movement In a short period of time. The stool is the minimum unit of chair, which made of least size and simple structure; therefore it fits to study basic knowledge of furniture making. For that reason, we can see occasionally the schools of furniture design departments have chosen the stool making course in their foundation students' studio classes. However, the professional study on the stool, such as the study on the posture for designing stool, has not been developed yet. This study presents basic Information of design for stool by analyzing various stools formatively.
