세라믹-금속 브레이징 접합조인트의 고온 접합강도에 관한 연구 (High Temperature Flexural Strengths of the Ceramic-Metal Brazed Joints)

  • Four point bending tests of the brazed joint composed of sintered silicon nitride and 0.2% carbon steel with Cusil ABA filler which were fabricated at 86$0^{\circ}C$ were performed at temperatures, 25, 100, 200, 300, 400, 50$0^{\circ}C$ From the experiments, the maximum bending strength was measured at 30$0^{\circ}C$ From the 3D FE analysis of the residual stress of the brazed joint, it was revealed that the thermally induced residual stresses were minimized when the environmental temperature was 35$0^{\circ}C$ Considering the degradation of the filler material at high temperatures, it was calculated that the maximum bending strength of the brazed joint occured just below the temperature of the minimum thermal residual stress and the thermal residual stress was the dominative parameter of the brazed joint.

  • Reaction bonded silicon carbide (RBSiC) is an important engineering ceramic because of its high strength and stability at elevated temperatures, and it is currently fabricated using reasonably cheap manufacturing processes, some of which have been used since the 1960s. However, forming complicated shapes from these materials is difficult because of their poor workability. The purpose of this work is to join the reaction-bonded SiC parts using a preceramic polymer as joint material. The manufacturing of ceramic material in the system Si-O-C from preceramic silicon containing polymers such as polysiloxanes has attained particular interest. The mixtures of preceramic polymer and filler materials, such as SiC, Si and MoSi, were used as a paste for the joining of reaction sintered SiC parts. The joining process during the annealing in Ar atmosphere at $1450^{\circ}C$ were described. The maximum strength of the joints was 63 MPa for the specimen joined with 10 vol.% of $MoSi_2$ and 30 vol.% of SiC as filler materials. Fracture occurred in the joining layer. This indicates that the joining strength is limited by the strength of the joint materials.

Effects of Reactive Air Brazing Parameters on the Interfacial Microstructure and Shear Strength of GDC-LSM/Crofer 22 APU Joints

  • In this paper, the joining characteristics of GDC-LSM ceramics with Crofer 22 APU metal alloys was investigated at different brazing temperatures and holding times by reactive air brazing. Brazing was performed using Ag-10 wt% CuO filler, at three different temperatures (1000, 1050, and 1100℃ for 30 minutes) as well as for three different holding times (10, 30, and 60 minutes at 1050℃). The interfacial microstructures were examined by scanning electron microscopy and the joining strengths were assessed by measuring shear strengths at room temperature. The results show that with increasing brazing temperature and holding time, joint microstructure changed obviously and shear strength was decreased. Shear strength varied from a maximum of 100±6 MPa to a minimum of 18±5 MPa, depending on the brazing conditions. These changes were attributed to an increase in the thickness of the oxide layer at the filler/metal alloy interface.

석회석을 원료로 사용한 재생용지의 친환경 In-situ Filler로서의 광학적 특성 연구 (Optical Characteristics of Eco-friendly In-situ Recycled Paper with Limestone as Filler)

  • The study was performed with low-grade limestone, which is used to make cement or is disposed of due to its low CaO content. In this study, the optimal condition of limestone with which to manufacture precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) and limestone in fiber was determined through in-situ reactions. The best firing condition is with slaked lime with rapid cooling after 2 h of firing at $1000^{\circ}C$. In addition, the content of CaO can be increased by sorting the low-grade limestone using a 200 mesh filter, and the optical quality of old newspaper (ONP) was similar when using both low-grade and high-grade limestone. Also, controlling the particle size of PCC is an important factor pertaining to the optical characteristics of paper.

  • Highly porous silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics were fabricated from polysiloxane, SiC and carbon black fillers, AlN-$Y_2O_3$ additives, and poly (ether-co-octene) (PEOc) and expandable microsphere templates. Powder mixtures with a fixed PEOc content (30 wt%) and varying SiC filler contents from 0-21 wt% were compression-molded. During the pyrolysis process, the polysiloxane was converted to SiOC, the PEOc generated a considerable degree of interconnected porosity, and the expandable microspheres generated fine cells. The polysiloxane-derived SiOC and carbon black reacted and synthesized nano-sized SiC with a carbothermal reduction during a heat-treatment. Subsequent sintering of the compacts in a nitrogen atmosphere produced highly porous SiC ceramics with porosities ranging from 78 % to 82 % and a flexura lstrength of up to ~7 MPa.

필러 첨가에 의한 OLED의 레이저 실링용 P2O5-V2O5-ZnO 유리프릿의 제조 (Synthesis of P2O5-V2O5-ZnO Glass Frit for Laser Sealing of OLED by the Addition of Filler)

  • In this study, we developed a lead-free $P_2O_5-V_2O_5-ZnO$ glass frit for sealing OLED using laser irradiation. The frit satisfied the characteristics required for laser sealing such as low glass transition temperature, low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), high water-resistance, and high absorption at the wavelength of the laser beam. Ceramic fillers were added to the glass frit in order to further reduce and match its CTE with that of the commercial glass substrate. The addition of Zirconium Tungsten Phosphate (ZWP) to the frit yielded the most desirable results, reducing the CTE to $45.4{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$, which is very close to that of the glass substrate ($44.0{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$). Successful formation of a solid sealing layer was observed by optical and scanning electron microscopy.

티타늄합금 주조용 치과매몰재의 조성에 따른 경화거동 및 용탕반응성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hardening Behavior and Metal-Mold Reaction in Dental Investment Materials for Titanium Castings)

  • Hardening behavior and metal-mold reaction of phosphate bonded investments for titanium and titanium alloys were investigated. Alumina and $Y_2O_3-stabilized$ zirconia, which are thermodynamically more stable than Titania, were used as major filler materials. $NH_4H_2PO_4$ was used as binder, and MgO was used as hardening acceleration material. A different composition ratio of binder and hardening acceleration material had effected on general hardening behavior and castings. And adding $YO_3-stabilized$ zirconia to alumina, metal-mold reaction characteristics for castings was evaluated. Considering working conditions and effects on castings, the best composition ratio conditions were both 10:10 and 12:8($NH_4H_2PO_4vs.\;MgO$). On the other hand, increasing the contents of $Y_2O_3-stabilized$ zirconia for filler material, metal-mold reaction layer of titanium castings was greatly decreased.

  • Practical difficulties for preparing a good crosssectional specimen of GaN-based materials for transmission electron microscopy have arisen due to large difference of mechanical properties between hard ceramic substrate and soft GaN-layered materials. Uneven polishing, sudden cracking, delamination, and selective sputtering during the conventional wedge polishing technique are often encountered as experimental hindrances. The preparation technique based on Strecker's method can be applied to overcome these difficulties, which eventually leads to mechanically stable TEM samples independent of the mechanical properties of materials. The basic idea is to use hard ceramic dummy filler for embedding the sample of interest into the dummy frame. In this study, we applied this technique into preparing cross-sectional TEM specimen of the GaN-based materials with mechanical instability and demonstrated usefulness of this hard dummy filler method in which the possible modifications of the sample of interest during the preparation must be avoidable. In addition, practical precautions during the preparation were discussed.

$Al_2O_3$ 충전제의 함량, 입도 및 소결시간에 따른 $Al_2O_3$/CAS glass 복합체의 저온 소결 및 유전 특성 (Low temperature and dieletric properties of $Al_2O_3$/CAS glass composites by dose and particle size of $Al_2O_3$ filler and sintering time)

  • Influences of dose and particle size of $Al_2O_3$ filler and sintering time on the dielectric properties of $Al_2O_3$ filler/CaO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ (CAS) glass composites were investigated with a view to applying the composites to the substrate material in low temperature co-firing ceramic (LTCC) technology. The increased addition of $Al_2O_3$ filler with the particle size of 1 ${\mu}m$ monotonically decreased the density of the sintered specimen at a given temperature, while sintering of the 10 wt% $Al_2O_3$ added specimen at $925^{\circ}C$ for 2 h demonstrated 96.0 % of the relative density, dielectric constant of 6.34, and quality factor of 2,760 GHz. As for the influence of the particle size of the $Al_2O_3$ filler, there existed an optimum particle size (30 ${\mu}m$) to ensure successful densification (96.5 %) of the 10 wt% $Al_2O_3$/CAS composites at $925^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, at which condition the specimen demonstrated dielectric constant of 5.45 and quality factor of 3,740 GHz. When the influence of the sintering time of the 10 wt% $Al_2O_3$) (30 ${\mu}m$) added specimen was investigated at the sintering temperature of $925^{\circ}C$, an overly long sintering time degraded dielectric properties due to the over-sintering and the significant growth of the second phase such as anorthite, while the sintering for 4 h demonstrated 96.58 % of the relative density, dielectric constant of 5.4, and quality factor of 4,050 GHz. These results demonstrate the feasibility of the investigated material as the substrate material in LTCC technology.

저온 소성용 Glass-Ceramics에서 glass의 softening point에 따른 소결 및 유전 특성 연구 (A study on the sintering and dielectric properties by softening point of glass in low temperature sinterable glass-ceramics)

  • 저온 동시소성용 glass-ceramics의 소결 경향성 연구를 위해 lead-borosilicate계 glass를 frit화하여 알루미나분말과 $TiO_2$분말을 $10{\sim}50\;vol%$로 각각 혼합한 후 여러 온도에서 소결하여 소결과 유전 특성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 glass의 연화온도(Ts)가 낮을수록 최대 치밀화 온도가 낮았으며, 반면에 소결밀도는 Ts가 높을수록 높았는데, 이는 glass-ceramicss에서의 결정화도와 관계하였다. 본 연구를 통해 glass-ceramic에서의 소결특성은 glass와 ceramic의 반응성에 의한 2상 석출 정도에 큰 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었으며, ceramic filler로서 알루미나와 $TiO_2$를 이용하여 $900^{\circ}C$에서 소성이 가능하였다. 알루미나의 경우 유전특성$({\epsilon}r=8.5,\;Q{\times}fo=6000)$이 기판용 저유전율 재료로 사용이 가능하였고, $TiO_2$의 경우도 유전특성($({\epsilon}r=17,\;Q{\times}fo=4000)$)이 필터용 고유전율 재료로 사용 가능하도록 높게 나타났다.
