Anorthite계 LTCC소재에서 Glass 입도와 함량 변화에 따른 강도 특성 (The Strength of Material with the Amount and the Particle Size of Glass on Anorthite System for LTCC)

  • Among LTCC material for substrate, the crystallized anorthite system was mainly studied as high strength material. However, specific factors that have affected on strength of material were studied insufficiently on anorthite system. In this study, the composition of anorthite glass was Ca-Al-Si-Zn-O. The changes of phase and microstructure were observed with the amount and the particle size of glass and the sintering temperature. It was studied that the factors affected on the strength of material. Phases of anorthite and $ZnAl_2O_4$ were formed with the increase of sintering temperature. The $Al_2O_3$ phase was increased with $Al_2O_3$ amount, acted as filler, and the strength of material is increased with $Al_2O_3$ phase. But phases of anorthite and $ZnAl_2O_4$ didn't affect on the strength of material. In the case of 60 vol% glass amounts and below $3.2\;{\mu}m$ of glass particle size, the strength of material was decreased. It is thought that the decrease of strength was due to non-homogeneous mixing between glass powder and filler.

  • 전력저장용 전기에너지 저장장치의 일종인 NaS 전지 단위 셀을 개발함에 있어서 알파-알루미나 절연세라믹 캡과 베타-알루미나 전해질 튜브 간의 세라믹-세라믹 상호 접합을 위하여 글라스 기반의 실링소재가 필요하다. 본고에서는 이 세라믹-세라믹 접합용 글라스 실링 페이스트를 제조함에 있어서, 열간 칭법에 의한 글라스 프릿 제조와 상분석, 분말입도 분석 및 글라스 조성에 따른 열팽창계수 변화 및 표면거칠기를 분석하였다. 또한 글라스 실란트의 접합력 평가를 위해 종래 솔더 볼 조인트의 접합력 평가용 분석장비인 Dage bond tester를 이용하여 세라믹-세라믹 컴포넌트의 작은 접합면에 대한 접합력 측정 방법을 제안하였다.

Micro-Crack Healing on Soda-Lime Glass by Chemical Strengthening

  • We studied whether chemical strengthening can heal the flaws on soda-lime silicate glass. Artificial surface cracks were introduced on the glass by sharp indentation with various loads of 0.1 to 10 N. Then, the glasses with flaws were treated by ion-exchanging in KNO3 melt. The change in the dimension of the crack on glass was measured by a digital microscope and a scanning electron microscope. The chemical strengthening treatment enhances the strength of the glass with flaws. It is thought that the melted KNO3 not only forms the depth of the compressed layer of 7.5 ㎛, but also heals the cracks by infiltrating them and expanding the glass on both sides of the cracks. The critical length (2c) of the cracks on soda-lime glass that can be healed by chemical strengthening is 50 ㎛ or less.

알루미나-아연붕규산염 유리를 이용한 저온 소결 다공성 세라믹스의 제조 및 특성 (Properties of Low Temperature Sintered Porous Ceramics from Alumina-Zinc Borosilicate Glass)

  • The low-temperature preparation of porous ceramics was carried out using mixtures of alumina-zinc borosilicate (ZBS) glass. The compositions of alumina-ZBS glass mixture with PMMA pore-former were unfortunately densified. Because PMMA was evaporated below the softening point of ZBS glass ($588{^{\circ}C}$), the densification through the pore-filling caused by the capillary force might occur. Howerver, those with carbon possessed pores where carbon was evaporated above the softening point. The porous ceramic having 35% porosity was successively fabricated by the low-temperature sintering process below $900{^{\circ}C}$ using 45 vol% of alumina, 45 vol% ZBS of glass, and 10 vol% of carbon as starting materials.

Densification and Dielectric Properties of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3-Glass Composites for LTCC Applications

  • Barium zincoborate (BZB) glass was added to $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$, and sintered at $875^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in air. When the BZB glass was added in quantities ranging from 15 to 20 wt%, the relative bulk density ranged from 93.1% to 94.2%, while the density decreased to roughly 81% thereafter up to 30 wt% glass addition. Quantitative XRD analysis showed that the $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$ filler was significantly dissolved into the BZB glass. However, no secondary phase was identified by XRD up to 30 wt% glass addition. The dielectric constant was about 130 to 140 at 1MHz up to 20 wt% BZB glass addition, while it decreased to about 60 thereafter, which may be ascribed to decreased density, partial dissolution of the $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$, and associated changes in the glass composition. The dielectric loss of the 20 wt% glass added specimen was 0.008.

섬유화 온도 변화에 따른 E-glass fiber의 물리적 특성 (Physical Properties of E-glass Fiber According to Fiberizing Temperature)

  • E (Electric) -glass fibers are the most widely used glass fibers, taking up 90 % of the long glass fiber market. However, very few papers have appeared on the physical characteristics of E-glass fibers and how they depend on the fiberizing temperature of fiber spinning. Glass fiber was fabricated via continuous spinning process using bulk E-glass. In order to fabricate the E-glass specimen, raw materials were put into a Pt crucible and melted at $1550^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs; mixture was then annealed at $621{\pm}10^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs. The transmittance and adaptable temperature for spinning of the bulk marble glass were characterized using a UV-visible spectrometer and a viscometer. Continuous spinning was carried out using direct melting spinning equipment as a function of the fiberizing temperature in the range of $1175{\sim}1250^{\circ}C$, while the winder speed was fixed at 500 rpm. Subsequently we investigated the physical properties of the E-glass fiber. The average diameter of the synthesized glass fiber was measured by optical microscope. The mechanical properties of the fiber were confirmed using a UTM (universal materials testing machine); the maximum tensile strength was measured and found to be $1843{\pm}449MPa$ at $1225^{\circ}C$.

MgO-Al2O3-SiO2계 유리의 열물성과 내플라즈마성 연구 (Study on Thermal Properties and Plasma Resistance of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass)

  • In this study, we studied the alternative of plasma resistant ceramic parts that constitute plasma chambers in the semiconductor dry etching process. MgO-Al2O3-SiO2(MAS) glass was made of 13 types of glass using the Design Of Experiments(DOE) and the effect on thermal properties such as glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature depending on the content of each composition and etching resistance to CF4/O2/Ar plasma gas. MAS glass showed excellent plasma resistance and surface roughness up to 20 times higher than quartz glass. As the content of Al2O3 and MgO increases, the plasma resistance is improved, and it has been confirmed that it has an inverse relationship with SiO2.

  • For reliability evaluation of AC-PDP, one of the most important factor is sealing property. In this paper, the reliability evaluation test method of the commercialized sealing glass frit in AC-PDP was studied. 6 inch AC-PDP panels were tested for evaluation of sealing glass frit by vibration shock test, thermal shock test, non -destructive X-ray inspection, residual stress inspection and residual gas detection. These test methods are proposed as a standard for testing the reliability of sealing glass frit. The main failure mode of sealing glass frit in AC-PDP seems to be the crack propagation from thermal cycling rather than mechanical factor.

  • Effects of additing various types of ceramic fillers to the BZB-based glass on the thermo-chemical stability, optical reflectance, and mechanical properties were investigated. The glass system demonstrated the feasibility to host various types of ceramic fillers to form micro-composites at the processing temperature suitable for PDP systems. The optical reflectance and mechanical strength of the filler-glass composites were improved as compared to the glass itself. These results demonstrate the feasibility of applying the Pb-free BZB-based glass system as a matrix for employing various types of crystalline ceramic fillers to be used as barrier rib materials in plasma display panels.

  • 본 연구는 램제트 돔 포트 커버용 글라스 세라믹의 기계적 특성, 정적 및 동적 파괴인성을 평가하기 위해 수행하였다. 램제트 추진기관의 돔 포트 커버의 재료로 MACOR 글라스 세라믹 9658을 선정하였으며, 취성재료인 글라스 세라믹의 파괴인성을 측정하기 위해 노치시편에 대한 정적 및 동적 파괴인성시험을 수행하였다.
