소리의 특성 및 청지각기능에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Nature of Sound and the Hearing Mechanism)

  • The hearing mechanism is a complicated system. Sound is generated by a source that sends out air pressure or power. The pressure or power makes the sound waves. These waves reach the eardrum, or tympanic membrane, which vibrates at a rate and magnitude proportional to the nature of the sound waves. The tympanic membrane transforms this vibration into the mechanical energy in the middle ear, which in turn converts it to the hydraulic energy in the fluid of the inner ear. The hydraulic energy stimulates the sensory cells of the inner ear which send neuroelectrical impulses to the central auditory nervous system. The passive perception of auditory information starts just here. The listener gives attention to the speech sound, differentiates the sound from background noise, and integrates his experience with similar sounds. The listener then puts all of these aspects of audition into the context of the moment to identify the nature of sound. This has a major role in human communication. This paper provides an overview of the nature and characteristics of sound, the structure and function of the auditory system, and the way in which sound is processed by the auditory system.

성인의 탈모경험: 근거 이론적 접근 (Experience of Alopecia in Adults: A Grounded Theory Approach)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the alopecia experience in adults and to explain the process of their experiences. Methods: Using a grounded theory methodology, 18 interviews were performed with fourteen men and four women, 34~57 years of age, suffering from alopecia. Data were analyzed using the constant comparative analysis method. Results: The core category emerged as "inescapable fetters". adults with alopecia engaged in three stages: embarrassment, seeking solution, and acceptance phase. Causal conditions were a vicious cycle of stress, biological factors and poor life style. Contextual conditions were recognition of irreversibleness, negative social awareness, and marriage. The central phenomenon of the adaptation process among the adults with alopecia was withdrawn life due to negative body image. Action/Interaction strategies included rely on medical treatment, efforts to take good care of hair, research for information treatment, efforts to cover up hair loss, and mind control. Intervening conditions were time cost, economic cost, support of surrounding people. Consequences was burden of unfinished lifetime homework. Conclusion: When caring for these adults, it is important to identify needs, allow patients to express what they want at that moment and support them in maintaining a daily life.

Computational and experimental analysis of beam to column joints reinforced with CFRP plates

  • In this paper, numerical and experimental assessments have been conducted in order to investigate the capability of using CFRP for the seismic capacity improvement and relocation of plastic hinge in reinforced concrete connections. Two scaled down exterior reinforced concrete beam to column connections have been used. These two connections from a strengthened moment frame have been tested under uniformly distributed load before and after optimization. The results of experimental tests have been used to verify the accuracy of numerical modeling using computational ABAQUS software. Application of FRP plate on the web of the beam in connections to improve its capacity is of interest in this paper. Several parametric studies were carried out for CFRP reinforced samples, with different lengths and thicknesses in order to relocate the plastic hinge away from the face of the column.

The Storytelling Rhythms of Chinese and Korean Films

  • In literature it is not only the meaning of words which matters, but also their texture matters i.e. their rhythm, colour and style are relevant and none of these natures can be reduced to an item of information. The texture is also important in film languages, especially the rhythm. In order to make the storytelling rhythm visible, a new concept of 'the Rhythm Chart Analysis Method (RCAM)' has been devised in this research and used for analysis. By analyzing original films and remakes in Korean and Chinese, one can find out that different countries have different storytelling rhythms i.e. the same story can be told in different rhythms. The central idea in Korean films is portrayed at the end, which is a typical characteristic of Korean films. And as the defining moment does not occur suddenly the audience can naturally get immersed into the story. But Chinese films communicate with the audience in a more direct way. It directly mentions characteristics of each actor in such a way that it is telling rather than showing. The information of the movie is given to the audience in the initial stages of the movie. Rhythm is as important as story and information. And through this we can find out the cultural differences from the different storytelling rhythms.

HI superprofiles of galaxies from THINGS and LITTLE THINGS

  • We present a novel profile stacking technique based on optimal profile decomposition of a 3D spectral line data cube, and its performance test using the HI data cubes of sample galaxies from HI galaxy surveys, THINGS and LITTLE THINGS. Compared to the previous approach which aligns all the spectra of a cube using their central velocities derived from either moment analysis, single Gaussian or hermite h3 polynomial fitting, the new method makes a profile decomposition of the profiles from which an optimal number of single Gaussian components is derived for each profile. The so-called superprofile which is derived by co-adding all the aligned profiles from which the other Gaussian models are subtracted is found to have weaker wings compared to the ones constructed in a typical manner. This could be due to the reduced number of asymmetric profiles in the new method. A practical test made on the HI data cubes of the THINGS and LITTLE THINGS galaxies shows that our new method can extract more mass of kinematically cold HI components in the galaxies than the previous results. Additionally, we fit a double Gaussian model to the superprofiles whose S/N is boosted, and quantify not only their profile shapes but derive the ratio of the Gaussian model parameters, such as the intensity ratio and velocity dispersion ratio of the narrower and broader Gaussian components. We discuss how the superprofile properties of the sample galaxies are correlated with their other physical properties, including star formation rate, stellar mass, metallicity, and gas mass.

딥러닝을 이용한 연안방재 시스템 구축에 관한 연구 (Study of the Construction of a Coastal Disaster Prevention System using Deep Learning)

  • Numerous deaths and substantial property damage have occurred recently due to frequent disasters of the highest intensity according to the abnormal climate, which is caused by various problems, such as global warming, all over the world. Such large-scale disasters have become an international issue and have made people aware of the disasters so they can implement disaster-prevention measures. Extensive information on disaster prevention actively has been announced publicly to support the natural disaster reduction measures throughout the world. In Japan, diverse developmental studies on disaster prevention systems, which support hazard map development and flood control activity, have been conducted vigorously to estimate external forces according to design frequencies as well as expected maximum frequencies from a variety of areas, such as rivers, coasts, and ports based on broad disaster prevention data obtained from several huge disasters. However, the current reduction measures alone are not sufficiently effective due to the change of the paradigms of the current disasters. Therefore, in order to obtain the synergy effect of reduction measures, a study of the establishment of an integrated system is required to improve the various disaster prevention technologies and the current disaster prevention system. In order to develop a similar typhoon search system and establish a disaster prevention infrastructure, in this study, techniques will be developed that can be used to forecast typhoons before they strike by using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and offer primary disaster prevention information according to the direction of the typhoon. The main function of this model is to predict the most similar typhoon among the existing typhoons by utilizing the major typhoon information, such as course, central pressure, and speed, before the typhoon directly impacts South Korea. This model is equipped with a combination of AI and DNN forecasts of typhoons that change from moment to moment in order to efficiently forecast a current typhoon based on similar typhoons in the past. Thus, the result of a similar typhoon search showed that the quality of prediction was higher with the grid size of one degree rather than two degrees in latitude and longitude.

치근 부착 스트레인 게이지를 이용한 응력 분포 분석 (An Analytical Study on Strain Distribution Using Strain Gauge Attached On Root Surface)

  • 바람직한 교정치료는 최적의 교정력을 치아에 가하여 정확하게 치아이동을 조절하고 예측함에 따라 가능해진다. 치관에 힘과 모멘트가 동시에 적용될 때 그 비율(M/F ratio)에 따라 치주인대에 나타나는 응력 분포가 변화하게 되고 이에 따른 회전중심의 위치가 변하게 되는데 이런 양상을 파악함으로써 정확한 치아이동을 조절하고 예측할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 교정력에 따른 치주인대 및 치조골 부위에서의 응력 분포를 알아보기 위하여 상악 중절치 치근 8부위에 스트레인 게이지를 부착한 인공 치아를 광탄성 레진에 매식한 4mm 정중이개 증례의 상악 전치부 실험모형을 제작하여 응력 분포를 조사하였다. 폐쇄 방법으로 다음과 같은 3가지 방법을 적용하였다. 1. 금속 호선의 삽입 없이 100g의 힘을 발휘하는 elastomeric chain만 사용한 경우, 2. .016" 금속호선을 삽입하고 elastomeric chain을 사용한 경우, 3. .016“x.022” 금속호선을 삽입하고 elastomeric chain을 사용한 경우. 각각의 경우에서 치근의 근심면, 원심면 및 순면, 설면에 나타나는 응력을 계측하여 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 치근 부착 스트레인 게이지를 이용한 응력 분포 조사 방법으로 치아이동시 치근의 근 원심면 및 순 설면에서의 응력 분포를 파악할 수 있었으며 이에 따른 모멘트 팔의 형성을 추정함으로써 치아의 회전양상을 알 수 있었다. 2. 호선없이 교정력을 적용한 경우 정출 및 경사이동이 컸으며 호선 적용에 따라 압하 및 치체이동 양상을 보이는 것을 응력 분포 파악을 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

1:12축소 비정형 고층 RC 건물의 비선형거동에 대한 실험과 해석의 상관성 (Correlation of Experimental ana Analytical Inelastic Responses of 1:12 Scale Irregular High-Rise RC Buildings)

  • 세가지 형태의 고층 비정형 철근콘크리트 건물에 대해 OpenSees를 이용하여 비선형정적해석을 수행한 후, 해석결과와 진동대 실험결과를 비교하여 해석방법에 대한 검증을 수행하고, 해석결과 나타난 비정형 건물의 성능과 하부 필로티부분의 파괴양상을 분석하였다. 선정된 모델은 필로티층이 골조로만 이루어진 모델 (모델 1), 필로티층 내부중앙골조에 벽체가 있는 모델 (모델 2), 그리고, 필로티층의 한쪽 골조에 벽체가 있는 모델 (모델 3)이다. 철근과 콘크리트의 응력-변형률 관계를 섬유모델에 이식하여 비선형부분의 거동을 묘사하고, 벽체도 비선형모델을 이식한 트러스로 이루어진 MVLEM을 적용하였다. 그 결과 축력이 작용함에 따른 기둥의 전단강성변화, 벽체의 들뜸현상 등과 같이 진동대 실험에서 나타난 거동특성을 비교적 정확하게 묘사하였다. 초과강도 측면에서 하부골조에 벽체를 포함하고 있는 모델 2와 모델 3은 모델 1보다 2배 가까이 크다. 이와 같이 모델 2와 모델 3의 초과강도와 연성이 큰 이유는 모델 2와 모델 3의 경우 모델 1로 설계된 골조에 벽체가 낀 벽의 형태로 설계되었기 때문으로 보인다. 그리고, 연성의 측면에서 모델 1과 모델 3은 모델 2의 보다 1.17배 큰 것으로 나타났다. 모델 1과 모델 3의 경우 골조부분에 과도한 모멘트가 작용하여 파괴에 이른 반면, 모델 2는 하부전단벽의 전단파괴에 의해 파괴되었으며, 모델 1과 모델 3에 비하여 크게 작용한 전도모멘트로 인해 기둥에 작용하는 축력의 변화가 크게 발생하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 압축최종강도(壓縮最終强度)를 기준으로 한 이중갑판구조(二重甲板構造)의 실용적인 안전성(安全性) 및 신뢰성(信賴性) 평가법을 제안한다. 이를 위하여 선체상갑판(船體上甲板)에 작용하는 압축응력(壓縮應力)을 기존의 선급규정에 의해 근사적으로 추정하며, 압축최종강도(壓縮最終强度)는 이상화구조요소법(理想化構造要素法)을 적용하여 해석한다. 초기(初期)처짐 및 잔류응력(殘留應力)의 영향과 국부좌굴(局部挫屈) 및 전체좌굴(全體挫屈)의 상관효과(相關效果)를 고려한 이상화판요소(理想化板要素)를 정식화한다. 이상화판요소(理想化板要素)의 정도(精度)와 유용성(有用性)은 단위(單位) 판부재(板部材) 및 상자형 용접구조물(熔接構造物)에 대한 기존의 실험결과(實驗結果) 또는 유한요소해석결과(有限要素解析結果)와 비교하여 확인한다. 본 제안법을 이중선각구조설계(二重船殼構造設計)개념하에서 설계된 정유운반선(精油運搬船)의 갑판구조(甲板構造)의 안전성(安全性) 및 신뢰성평가(信賴性評價)에 적용하고, 초기처짐, 잔류응력(殘留應力)등의 영향과 고장력강(高張力鋼)을 사용한 경우의 효과등에 대해 고찰한다.

산업사회, 대중문화, 도시에 대한 '현실과 발언'의 양가적 태도 (Ambivalence in "Hy$\breve{o}$nsil kwa Par$\breve{o}$n"'s Relationsip to Industrial Society, Mass Culture, and the City)

  • The inauguration of the collective Reality and Utterance (Hy$\breve{o}$nsil kwa Par$\breve{o}$n) in 1979 and 1980 marked a watershed moment in Korean art. This is not only because the collective gave birth to the politically-engaged art movement that would come to be labeled "Minjung Art" by the middle of the 80s, but also because it enthusiastically embraced a wide range of images from the urban culture. With a special focus on the members' early work, my research explores an issue largely neglected in the dominant narrative of Minjung art as a form of activism against the authoritarian Korean government during the 80s. The issue is what was at stake in Reality and Utterance's exploration of contemporary urban visual culture. The aim of this essay is to recognize the engagement with the urban visual culture as central to the group's early project and to consider it at some distance from the anti-urban and anti-mass culture perspective which was endorsed by the Minjung narrative. Focusing on members' turn to urban visual culture, this essay instead argues that this turn was by no means merely a means to making art as social critique, but more importantly, it was an experiment with the shared image world, as opposed to the rarefied visual vocabularies of abstract modernism. Visual productions such as advertisements, billboards, posters, and kitsch paintings, which come from outside the narrow confines of fine art, were definitely ominous signs of the colonization of everyday life in the capitalist city, but at the same time they were anticipated to be a catalyst for redefining Korean art in a more communicative, accessible, and democratized way. In this regard, in the early 1980s-in particular 1980 and 1982-the members' gesture oscillated between critique and embrace, which allowed the group to occupy a unique domain in the realm of Korean art production.
