XRD Analysis of Portland Limestone Cement Paste (포틀랜드 석회석 시멘트에 관한 XRD 분석)

  • This study produced Portland limestone cement at the rate of limestone substitution by grinding limestone and clinker together, and it conducted an XRD analysis to determine the sign language response structure as a basic study on Portland Limestone Cement. As a result of the XRD analysis, the higher the substitution rate of limestone, the more likely it is that the detection rate of ettringite is decreased. Additionally, we could see that the production volume of Mono-carbonate was increasing.

  • Due to enhanced construction requirement, ready mixed concrete are being popular day by day. The current study aimed to develop ready mixed concrete using GBFS contained cement and determine its properties of fresh and hardened states. A real scale experiment was set up in a ready mixed plant for measuring workability and compressive strength. The workability was tested after mixing (within 5 minutes), 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes of the running of bulk carrier. The ready mixed carrier employed spinning motion i.e., rotating around its axis with 20 RPM and running on road with 1km/h speed. The mixing ratio of cement: sand:gravel, water to cement ratio, super plasticizer were, 1:1.73:2.47, 0.40 and 6% of cement, respectively. The chemical composition of raw material was determined using XRF and the properties of cements were measured according to ASTM standards. The experimental results confirm that the cement with composition of 6.89% of GBFS, 4% of Gypsum and 89.11% of clinker showed the good compressive strength and workability of concrete after 150 minutes of the spinning motion in bulk carrier.

  • Since the climate problem getting severe, carbon neutrality is rising global issue. The limestone powder addition that can substitute clinker in cement is look forward to get positive effect as filler. This study focus on the effect of limestone powder chemical characteristic on mortar workability and compressive strength. Consequently, regardless of type of limestone and subsitution amount, the compressive strength was lower then OPC. But the workability of limestone composite cement showed higher then OPC. Considering latter strength development, using unit water decreasing effect of limestone composite cement is planned further.

A Study of Effecting Factor in the Reology and Physical Properties of Cements (시멘트 유동성과 물성에 미치는 영향인자에 관한 연구)

  • The reology and several physical properties of cements are studied by varying the different mineral composition and particle size distribution(PSD) of cements with closed circuit ball mill for high workability, low heat of hydration, and high strength. In this study, we found that the workability of concretes is related to the viscosity of cement, and affects to strength. Here, this workability is affected by mineral composition (C3A) and the PSD. Especially, rosin-rammer index and 44${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ residue in the PSD of cements are affected to water demand, casting property, slump loss, strength of cements. From the above results, the conditions of cement for high workability, low heat of hydration and high strength are to use low C3A clinker, 5-10% slag addition, and to grind cement below 0.7 rosin-rammer index, above 3.5-4.5% 44 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ residue, 4000$\pm$100 $\textrm{cm}^2$/g blaine. Such cements are, therefore, supurior to super low heat cement and slag-blended cement in comparing the physical properties of strength, slump, slump-flow, adiabetic temperature, etc.

  • A converter slag has been heat-treated above melting point at reduced condition by cokes. As the result, most iron was separated. To make hydraulic compounds, calcium oxide was added to the reduced converter slag and the mixtures were sintered. This modified converter slag clinker mainly contained tricalcium silicate and calcium aluminates, and have a great potential to be a good hydraulic cement. The hydrates of the hydraulic compounds and gypsum with and without granulated slags, were mainly C-S-H, ettringite, calcium monosulfoaluminate hydrate, calcium aluminate hydrate, and $Ca(OH)_2$

  • 1) electron-microprobe를 응용하여 $CaO-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ 계에서 생성한 $C_2S$, $C_3S$ 에 존재하는 sulfate의 solid, solution을 정량적으로 구할 수 있었으며 이 결과로 $C_2S$$Al_2O_3$, $SO_3$ 등이 solid soln 등으로 침적되고 이들이 $C_3S$의 생성을 억제한다는 mechanism이 확인되었다. 2) phase equilibrium(상평형)에 의하면 $Na_2SO_4$, $K_2SO_4$는 mineralizer로서 작용하며 $C_3S$ 의 생성을 돕는다. 그러나 $K_2SO_4$$Al_2SO_3$ 가 결합상태로 존재할 경우는 1,400 $^{\circ}C$에서 광범위한 liquid를 생성하며 quenching하면 glass질과 $\beta-C_2S$ 만이 얻어지고 $C_3S$ 는 생성되지 않는다. 또 이를 1,250 $^{\circ}C$ 까지 서냉하면 $C_2S$ 와 Ca, K, Al, S, 등을 함유한 새로운 물질이 생성된다. 3) $CaO-SiO_2-Al_2O_3-Fe_2O_3$ 계에서 $C_3S$ 의 생성에 미치는 $Na_2SO_4$, $K_2SO_4$ 의 영향을 실험실적으로 검토한 결과 complex interaction이 확인되었으며 $Na_2SO_4$ 는 어떤 경우에는 mineralizing effect를 상실한다는 재미 있는 사실이 발견되었다.

  • This paper reports the use of supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) derived from local resources, for the partial replacement of Portland cement to reduce $CO_2$ emission during cement production. Replacement of Portland clinkers up to 20 wt.% with SCMs in normal cements reduced $CO_2$ emission by 0.18 kg $CO_2$/kg. The compressive strength exceeded the standard specification for Portland cement ASTM C-150. Blended cement samples containing 20% Portland clinker replacement had compressive strengths of 37 MPa after 28 days of curing time. The microstructure evolution of blended cement at a composition of 80:20 was similar to that of the 100% Portland cement, where the structure between days 28 and 56 reached a steady state. Blended cements with compositions of 70:30 and 60:40 still showed progress of CSH plate formation and the lack of massive structure development. It is shown that the use of supplementary cementing materials could be as one of alternative ways to reduce $CO_2$ emissions during cement production.

디지털 이미지 프로세싱과 신경망을 이용한 시멘트 Kiln 소성의 온라인 진단 및 최적 제어

  • 소성 영역(Sintering zone)에서 클링커(Clinker)의 형상 형성은 시멘트 생산 공정에서 가장 중요한 생산 공정중의 하나이다. 소성공정의 진단 및 최적 제어의 핵심은 써모그래프(Thermo graph), 즉 적외선 카메라를 이용한 온도 분포의 측정이다. 여기에서 다룰 ''PIT Indicator'' 시스템은 분진이 많은 열악한 산업 현장의 연소 시스템에 적용할 수 있도록 특별히 설계한 공냉식의 2개 채널을 가진 광학 장비에 기초하고 있다. 비디오 영상과 써모그래프 이미지 그리고 다양한 연소 특성이 카메라를 통하여 얻어지고 자기 학습 기능을 가진 소프트웨어에서 기록되고 분석된다. 이때 얻은 데이터는 수학적 모델에서 온라인으로 Free Lime 함유율을 예측하는데 이용된다. 열분포의 써모그래프 표시와 공정상의 다양한 운전 특성을 분석하여 주는 ''PIT Indicator'' 소프트웨어를 통하여 다른 공정 제어 시스템과 연결이 가능하다. 이와 같은 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 이용하여 최적화가 필요한 여러요소들의 최적화를 동시에 그리고 온라인으로 수행할 수가 있다. Free Lime 함유율의 연속적인 온라인 연산을 통해 생산 설비 및 공정에 맞는 최소한의 에너지를 Kiln 에 공급함으로써 근본적으로 1차 연료의 절감이 가능하고 NOx와 같은 유해 가스의 배출량도 제어할 수 있다. 또한 별도로 NOx에 대한 모델을 개발하여 NOx를 정확하게 예측하는 것도 가능하다.

Effect of Organic Admixture(Calcium Lignosulfonate) on the Early Hydration Process of Portland Cement(III) (시멘트 초기수화과정에 대한 유기혼화제의 영향(III))

  • The effect of calcium lignosulfonate (CLS) on the early hydration characteristics for clinker minerals was investigated. In the presence of CLS and unsufficient gypsum The hydration of $C_3$A lowered CLS adsorption to form ettrin-gite and the residual CLS in the liquid phase accelerated the solubility of C4AF hydration. As the result unreacted $Fe^{3+}$ in the liquid phase would be precipitated gelatinously on $C_3$ hydrates and the hydration of $C_3$ could be retarded. But by addition of optimum gypsum into the cement with CLS the presence of $Fe^{3+}$ in the liquid phase were lowered and $C_3$ hydration would be normallized.
