In each nuruk using today, effect of pH on glucoamylase activity and viable cell count of yeast and bacteria was measured. Common components during fermentation, alcohol, acetaldehyde and acetone, amino acid composition, and total sugars and mineral content were determined in yakju(korean wine) brewed from different ingredients and by different methods. Results are summarized as follows ; 1. The lower the pH, the lower the glucoamylase activity in JK, BK, JK-S BK-S and JN. But the higher the glucoamylase activity ratio in Koji and KN. 2. Yeast and bacteria cell count could not determined in nuruk inoculated of seed. In JK, BK and JN, yeast cell count was 50${\times}$104∼80${\times}$104, bacteria cell count was 5${\times}$106∼24${\times}$106. 3. In yakju during fermentation, pH was higher in RU, total acidity content was higher in ST-N, ST-K, RU and ST-RUPO and alcohol content was lower in RUPO and ST-RUPO. 4. Ethanol and acetaldehyde content were highest in dukyunju. Trace amount of acetone was determined only in ST-K, RUPO and ST-RUPO . n-Propyl alcohol content was higher in ST-K, ST-RUPO and ST-N, iso-butyl alcohol content was higher in L-RUPO, Dukyunju and Songyupju and iso-amyl alcohol content was higher in Songyupju, RU, L-RUPO and Dukyunju. 5. In amino acids composition of each yakju, Pro, Ala and Val content was higher than other amino acids. Total amino acids content was the highest in Dukyunju and second highest in ST-N, NH3 was higher in ST-N, Dukyunju, RUPO than other samples. 6. Total sugars content was the highest in ST-N and second highest in RU. 7. P, K and Mg content were higher in Dukyunju and ST-N than in other samples. In Dukyunju, Ca and P ratio was 0.075 because of low Ca content and high P content.
Objective: To explore the immune reconstitution of $CD4^+T$ cells after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-HSCT) and its relationship with invasive fungal infection (IFI) in patients with hematological malignancies. Materials and Methods: Forty-seven patients with hematological malignancies undergoing Allo-HSCT in Binzhou Medical University Hospital from February, 2010 to October, 2014 were selected. At 1, 2 and 3 months after transplantation, the immune subpopulations and concentration of cytokines were assessed respectively using flow cytometry (FCM) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The incidence of IFI after transplantation and its correlation with immune reconstitution of $CD4^+T$ cells were investigated. Results: The number of $CD4^+T$ cells and immune subpopulations increased progressively after transplantation as time went on, but the subpopulation cell count 3 months after transplantation was still significantly lower than in the control group (p<0.01). In comparison to the control group, the levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-10 after transplantation rose evidently (p<0.01), while that of transforming growth factor-${beta}$ (TGF-${beta}$) was decreased (p<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference level of interferon-${\gamma}$ (IFN-${\gamma}$) (p>0.05). The incidence of IFI was 19.2% (9/47), and multivariate logistic regression revealed that IFI might be related to Th17 cell count (p<0.05), instead of Th1, Th2 and Treg cell counts as well as IL-6, IL-10, TGF-${beta}$ and IFN-${\gamma}$ levels (p>0.05). Conclusions: After Allo-HSCT, the immune reconstitution of $CD4^+T$ cells is delayed and Th17 cell count decreases obviously, which may be related to occurrence of IFI.
Objectives : To examine the effects of Gojineumja on white rats which deteriorated immunity caused by Methotrexate(MTX), first of all, MTX was fed to the rats once a day for 4 day. Methods : After the immune response of the rats are deteriorated, dried extracts of Gojineumja(GJE) mixed in water was fed to the white rats once a day for l4days. The next conclusion was made by examining the rates of B-cells and T-cells of the peripheral blood and the changes in rates of CD4+ T-cells and CD8+ T -cells of the blood sampled from the spleen and peripheral region. Especially the count of CD3+ CD4+ T-cells of the peripheral blood and the count of CD3+ CD4+ T-cells of the spleen the count of CD4+/ CD8+ T-cell of the peripheral blood and the spleen proved the significant effect of increasing immune responses statistically. Results :(1) The following are the summary of the results. (2) The percentage of B lymphocyte of peripheral blood was increased significantly in GJE group as compared with control group. (3) The percentage of CD3+ CD4+ T-cell of peripheral blood was increased significantly in GJE group as compared with control group. (4) The percentage of CD3+ CD8+ T-cell of peripheral blood was not different statistically. (5) The percentage of CD4+/ CD8+ T-cell of peripheral blood was increased significantly in GJE group as compared with control group. (6) The percentage of CD3+ CD4+ T-cell of spleen was increased significantly in GJE group as compared with control group. (7) The percentage of CD3+ CD8+ T-cell was not different statistically. (8) The percentage of CD4+ /CD8+ T-cell was not different statistically. Conclusions : Gojineumja has an effect of increasing immune responses on white rats with deteriorated immunity caused by MTX.

Objectives : To investigate the effects of herb-acupunctures of Qi tonification herbs or formula on the rat immune depression induced by an anticancer drug, methotrexate (MTX) Methods: Animals were divided into 5 groups; Normal control group was not given any treatment. Immune depression was induced by oral administration of 1mg/kg MTX b.i.d for 4 days in Control, Sample I, II, and III groups. We treated on CV 4 (Guanyuan) with saline, Bojoongiggi-tang (Buzhongyiqi-tang), Ginseng Radix and Astragali Radix herb-acupunctures in Control, Sample I, II, and Ill groups, respectively. In both blood and spleen, the assessment of CD4+ T-cell count, CD8+ T-cell count, CD4/CD8 T-cell ratio was performed. Results: Here we show that 3 herb- acupuncture groups have an influence, to some extent, on CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell counts and CD4/CD8 T-cell ratio in both blood and spleen. Astragali Radix herb-acupuncture, in particular, was found to have significantly increased CD4+ T-cell count in blood and CD4/CD8 T-cell ratio in blood and spleen. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that herb-acupunctures of Bojoongiggi-tang (Buzhongyiqi-tang), Ginseng Radix and Astragali Radix may have an influence over rat immune depression induced by MTX.
Background: To determine the effect of Aerobic exercise(AE) on body temperature and blood components in smoking male subjects. Methods: 15 subjects were randomly assigned to Smoking group(smoking, n=8) and Non-smoking group(Non-smoking, n=7). To measure body temperature and blood components. For evaluation of body temperature, the Infrared Thermography, IT was used, and blood components was measured using the Complete Blood cell Count(CBC). Results: The results shows that White blood cell (WBC) was significantly (p<0.05) increased in Smoking group. and no significantly difference between groups(p<0.05). Regarding body temperature, was significantly (p<0.05) increased in Smoking group and Non-somking group. and no significantly difference between groups(p<0.05). Conclusion: Aerobic exercise can increase White blood cell and body temperature in smokers.
Background: An easy, reproducible and simple marker is needed to estimate phase of endometrial pathologic lesions such as hyperplasia and endometrial cancer and distinguish from pathologically normal results. We here aimed to clarify associations among neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), endometrial hyperplasia and cancer in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Materials and Methods: Patients (n=161) who were admitted with abnormal uterine bleeding and the presence of endometrial cells on cervical cytology or thick endometrium were investigated. The study constituted of three groups according to pathologic diagnosis. Group 1 included endometrial precancerous lesions like hyperplasia (n=63), group 2 included endometrial cancerous lesions (n=38) and group 3 was a pathologically normal group (n=60). Blood samples were obtained just before the curettage procedure and the NLR was defined as the absolute neutrophil count divided by the absolute lymphocyte count; similarly, PLR was defined as the absolute platelet count divided by the absolute lymphocyte count. Results: The white blood cell count was significantly higher in patients with cancer than in those with hyperplasia (p=0.005). The platelet count and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio were significantly higher in patients with cancer than in control patients, but there was significantly no difference between patients with hyperplasia and other groups (p=0.001 and p=0.025 respectively). PLR was significantly lower in control subjects than in other groups (p<0.001), but there was no significant difference between patients with hyperplasia and those with cancer. Conclusions: PLR was significantly lower in control subjects than in other groups. Thus both hyperplasia and cancer may be differentiated from pathologically normal patients by using PLR. White blood cell count was significantly higher in patients with cancer than in those with hyperplasia and pathologically normal patients. Therefore white blood cell count may be used for discriminate hyperplasia to cancer. By using multiple inflammation parameters, discrimination may be possible among endometrial cancer, endometrial precancerous lesions and pathologically normal patients.
The objective of the present study was to investigate the accuracy of mastitis diagnostic indicators for different dairy goat breeds. Biweekly milk samples were collected from individual half mammary gland of seven Saanen and seven Alpine dairy goats in the period of 40 to 120 days in milk. With threshold value set at 2.8 and 3.1 for Alpine and Saanen dairy goats, respectively, log (SPC) offered good sensitivity (0.89, 0.93), specificity (0.88, 0.95), positive predictive value (0.75, 0.85) and negative predictive value (0.95, 0.98) as a mastitis diagnostic tool. The correlations of log (SPC) with milk yield, log (SCC), ALP, LDH, $Na^{+}$, $K^{+}$ and EC were significant in Saanen dairy goats (p<0.05), with the highest correlation coefficient (0.653) existing between log (SPC) and log (SCC). The correlations of log (SPC) with milk yield, milk fat, milk protein, log (SCC), $Na^{+}$, $K^{+}$, EC were significant in Alpine dairy goats (p<0.05), with the highest correlation coefficient (0.416) existing between log (SPC) and log (SCC). There were different best-fit regression equations with different multiple diagnostic indicators for Saanen and Alpine dairy goats. In conclusion, different breeds of dairy goats may have to adapt different mastitis diagnostic parameters for a better diagnosis.
In this study, we produced kimchi with cooked Dioscorea batatas yam based on the its outstanding nutritional value, biological activity, and pharmacological action. Sliced kimchi cabbage, processed white radish kimchi (kkakdugi), and whole kimchi cabbage were prepared with 3% Dioscorea batatas, and the physicochemical and bioactivity characteristics were analyzed. In three kinds of Dioscorea batatas. The pH of the kimchi decreased and its acidity increased as the storage period was extended. The period of the maximum total viable cell count of the sliced cabbage and the processed white radish kimchi (kkakdugi) was 14 days, while the period for whole kimchi cabbage was 21 days. The period of maximum lactic acid bacteria count was 14 days for all three kinds. For physiological activities, polyphenol and flavonoid contents and DPPH elimination were highest immediately after production of the kimchi. Also, anthocyanin content increased as the storage period extended. The pH, acidity, total viable cell count, lactic acid bacteria count, and physiological activities were shown to be different according to the type of kimchi and the storage period.
The purposes of this study were to evaluate the adherence of bacteria on various denture base resin materials and effects of chitosan, added to denture base materials on bacterial adherence. PMMA denture base resin such as heat-cured Vertex-RS, self-cured Vertex-SC and 4-META denture base resin such as heat-cured Meta-Dent, self-cured Meta-Fast were used in this study Samples were divided into two groups the denture base resin with chitosan, without chitosan Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus casei were used in this study. The surface of samples was observed by SEM. When chitosan was added to M17 and MRS broth, viable cell count of bacteria was reduced. Viable cell count of Streptococcus mutans on the samples decreased as follows : Meta-Dent, Vertex-SC, Meta-Fast, Vertex-RS. Viable cell count of Lactobacillus casei on the samples decreased as follows: Vertex-RS, Meta-Dent, Meta-Fast, Vertex-SC. The resin with chitosan showed lower adherence of bacteria than without chitosan. The images of SEM showed that the surface of the resin with chitosan was rougher than that of without chitosan. These results showed that the denture base resin materials with chitosan have rougher surface than without chitosan, but less bacteria adhered on them.

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine proportional rates of cervical precancerous lesions and cancer, and associations with socio-demographic variables, HIV status, and CD4 cell count. Materials and Methods: A retrospective comparative study was conducted targeting the medical records of all women over age 18 that were diagnosed histologically through colposcopy with cervical precancerous lesions and cancer from 1 December 2011 to 30 November 2012. Results: A total of 313 patient records were used for data analysis. The average age was 39.1 (SD=2.04) years. More than a third (37.1%) of the patients had CIN III or cervical cancer. There was a significant association between age, CD4 cell count, HIV status, and cervical lesions (p<0.05). Age was found to be an influential predictor of cervical lesions (OR=0.67, 95%CI: 0.46-0.98). Conclusions: There exists an association between age and cervical lesions, with presentation of cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer at a younger age among HIV reactive patients. The National Guidelines should be brought in line with the National HIV Counseling and Testing Policy to offer Pap smears to all sexually active women that test HIV reactive during routine HIV Testing.
