  • This study applies the cointegration theory to analyse the causality of the prices between imported fisheries and domestic fisheries in distribution channel. We've focused on the prices of import, wholesale and retail about the frozen Alaska pollack, hairtail and croaker which take up high portion and are popular among most of the consumers. In process of analysis, the unit root test was adopted to find the stability of time series data prior to the cointegration test. If the time series data was found as stable one in unit root test, we should analyse the VAR model. If unstable, the cointegratioin test was adopeted to find the long-run equilibrium relationship between the data. When the long-run equilibrium relationship was found among the price of the import, wholesale and retail price, the VECM model was adoped. If not, the differenced VAR model was adopted. The main findings of this study could be summarized as follows ; First, according to the result of the analysis on VAR model, time series data of frozen Alaska pollack was found as stable and has causality relationship and close effect was existing among the import, wholesale and retail price. Second, the data of frozen hairtail was found as an unstable one in unit root test and the result of cointegration test showed the long-run equilibrium relationship at lag 1. From the results of VECM model, we could find that the coefficient of error correction is effective, and the sign is negative(-). It means that the existence of adjustment tendency to long-run equilibrium after a short-run deviation. But the short-run causality of the prices were not found except the price of wholesale. Third, according to the results of differenced VAR model, data from frozen croaker did not have the stability and long-run equilibrium. Moreover, it was found that the import price has a weak causality on the retail price. Because of having difficulties in collecting data, the result of this paper could not explain the relationship among the prices of import, wholesale and retail perfectly. However, it more or less contributed to a long-lasted debate on the direction of causality of price-setting in academic research and provided a useful guide for the policy makers in charge of the price-setting of fisheries products as well.

  • This study aims to analyze the causality of placeness cognition which includes the place satisfaction, place attachment, place function, and behavioral intention of those who visit Suseong amusement park. A questionnaire survey was administered to 255 individuals who visited in Suseong amusement park. To conduct the analysis, six hypotheses were formulated and tested. While two hypotheses were statistically rejected, four hypotheses were accepted. First, place satisfaction was found to have a positive effect on place function (β=.577, p<0.001). Second, place attachment had a positive effect on behavioral intention (β=.450, p<0.001). Third, place function had a positive effect on behavioral intention (β=.247, p<0.05). Fourth, place function was found to have a positive effect on place attachment (β=.637, p<0.001). Unlike most existing research which has indicated that place satisfaction has a direct effect on behavioral intention this study suggests a that double mediating effect through place function and place attachment between place satisfaction and behavioral intention. In addition to increasing satisfaction through the environment of the Suseong Amusement Park, it is also necessary to improve the function of the place to ensure repeated visits from visitors.

  • This paper analyses the relationship between regional economic power defined as GRDP per capita and various socioeconomic variables such as fiscal variables(revenue, expenditure, etc.) as well as nonfiscal variables(population, ratio of old population, unemployment rate, dependency ration) using the pooling data of 16 local governments from 1998 to 2012. To put it concretely, following the Granger causality test, regression analysis has been done with the regional economic power being the dependent and variables which have either one or two direction causality being independent variables. And test of cumulative effects has been done with variables showing statistical significance in the regression analysis. Local tax revenues per capita, expenditures of social development per capita and median age have positive effects, while dependency ratio has negative effect on regional economy. And national subsidy per capita, local tax revenues per capita, expenditures of social development per capita and median age all have cumulative effects on regional economy.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine a causal relationship and interaction among payment of education expenses, economic growth, imports and exports. The results of 'the Granger causality test' suggest that payment of education expenses are affected by imports and exports; and the other factors are not related. In addition, payment of education expenses and the relationship among variables confirmed by IRF show that payment of education expenses has a minus(-) effect on exports at the beginning and then it turns into plus(+) as a certain time passes. On the other hand, it has a minus(-) effect on imports at the beginning, and this gradually changes to zero(0). Lastly, it turns out that it has a plus(+) effect on GDP. It is therefore estimated that the demand for high-quality manpower is expected to grow and new investments for education to rise with increases in imports and exports with initial acceleration. The findings show that government education investment in foreign languages and research manpower must take precedence in order to meet the demand for high-quality manpower.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the causality among technostress creators. In doing so, we can suggest the ways how to reduce a technostress of employees. Research results suggest that pace of change has a positive effect on the work overload and has a negative effect on work-home conflict. Complexity of technology positively influences not only work overload but job insecurity. Work overload has a significant effect on work-home conflict. Finally, work-home conflict has a positive effect on job insecurity. Conclusions and implications are discussed.

  • Purpose - From the advanced path of development and current situation, the development of enterprises plays a tremendous role in promoting national economic growth and raising the overall national strength. Therefore, this paper aims at examining the mutual effect between small & medium enterprises and economic growth. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to address the operating mutual effect between the small & medium enterprises and economic growth more clearly, this paper sets Alibaba Group and Hangzhou as an example. Meanwhile, the annual data from 2000 to 2017 will be employed, and an empirical analysis will be performed under the vector error correction model. Results - The findings display that the total revenue of Alibaba Group has a positive effect on economic growth in city of Hangzhou. However, the Granger Causality test implies that there is only a unidirectional causality between total revenue of Alibaba Group and economic growth in Hangzhou. More specifically, 1% increase in total revenue of Alibaba Group can result in 0.272% in economic growth of Hangzhou in the long run. Conclusions - In summary, for the long run, the local governments should promulgate a series of policies to assist the small & medium enterprises like Alibaba Group to improve the local economic growth as seen in the city of Hangzhou.

  • The paper aims to investigate whether foreign direct investment (FDI) has positive effect on the labour productivity in Vietnam. Labour productivity is the elemental determinant of a country's development level in long-term. In recent years, although increasing consistently, labour productivity of Vietnam remains low in comparison to other South East Asian countries. To identify the direction of effect and the level of effect of FDI and human capital on the labour productivity of Vietnam, Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model was used to examine the effect of FDI and human capital on labour productivity in Vietnam from 1986 to 2014. The results of bounds test confirm the existence of cointegration among the variables. Further, the Toda and Yamamoto Granger causality test affirms that there is unidirectional causality running from foreign direct investment and human capital index to labour productivity. The empirical results provide strong statistical evidence that foreign direct investment and human capital has a positive impact on labour productivity in Vietnam in long-term. These findings imply that workers are expected to further improve their knowledge, skills and that policy-maker should establish concrete plans to increase human capital. Results from this study provide suggestion necessary for Vietnam to achieve sustainable development.

  • The authors calculate the long-term predictability of GDP, domestic demand, investment, and net exports for Guangdong province, P.R. China from 2000 to 2013. A vector autoregressive (VAR) model with quarterly data for this period is first co-integrated then the Granger causality test is applied to empirically assess the relationships among gross domestic product (GDP), consumption, investment, and net exports. There is a strong causality effect between investment and net exports in Guangdong province. However, the variance decomposition results indicate that exports respond to foreign shocks rather than domestic ones, making their impact on the Guangdong economy to predict. Results show the stimulating effect of domestic demand on GDP is larger than the stimulating effect of net exports and much larger than even the stimulating effect of investment. The analysis suggests that there are dynamic influences with various levels of persistence between GDP, consumption, investment, and net exports. Macroeconomic policy adjustments are urgently required to expand domestic demand and thereby stimulate economic growth in Guangdong province.

  • After reform and openness action, china has been recorded high rate of increasing in export and continuous economic growth. Also their role in the international economy has been rise. The major reason of these incredible growth of China is the openness by a trade, after all the economic growth of China is evaluated an export-led growth. But, some insist that the growth of China has been accomplished by a domestic-based economy not but an export-led economy. For verification of former insists, using a yearly data, China exports and GDP, from 1979 to 2007 and performs time-series to examine an existence of causality between China's regional exports and GDP. As result of analysis, GDP and exports have two-way causality significantly when not considering region case. After the direction of Chinese reform, the east region has a strong significant relation, which support that export-led growth. While, middle and west region has weak causality between exports and GDP.

  • Information Technology (IT) has been working as an engine of growth in Korea since early 1990's. For the next leap of Korean economy and to overcome worldwide financial crisis, Korea's IT industry needs to find a new breakthrough. In this viewpoint, we tried to empirically analyze the impact of Korea's IT trade on domestic industry. Since Korean government is trying to set up a few free trade agreements (FTA) with major trade partners, more accurate understanding of the impact of FTA is required to find the correct way to promote Korea's IT industry. We first looked at the current status of Korea's IT trade with major partners such as the US, Japan, and China to understand the competitiveness of Korea's IT industry. Having done this, we measured the impact of IT trade on domestic industry using Granger causality test. The results showed that the positive impact of trade is bigger on IT industry than on whole industry. Also, the impact of import turned out to be bigger than that of export. Among the major trade partner countries, the US’s and China's impacts are bigger than Japan's impact. Another notable thing is that IT product import from the US has especially big impact on domestic IT industry. Our findings may have certain implications to the FTA related policy.
